I was talking about UPSIDE people. Not how good a player he was at THAT TIME.

I've not made ANY reference to how each plays, but focused strictly on physical aspects to emphasize the UPSIDE of the player
Physical stature and statistics do not translate to upside.

It's much more about how the specific player plays and their overall demeanor, talent, and drive. Combine stats are useless - ala Ray Lewis, Anquan Boldin, and Terrell Suggs

Not sure he will be able to see the field with the knot on his head-how is keeping him better than keeping Barnes and dealing Kindle? I'm sure we could have done much better with a Kindle trade!

Then I guess Colt McCoy is oozing with upside <_<

Certainly good news for Kindle and the team. Hopefully he can get some playing time in this season. We'll have to see. Most importantly I want him to be medically cleared.

You're obviously not understanding.

Ray Lewis was seen as undersized, too small for an LB, that's why he slipped in the draft. That's why, while others doubted him, he turned into one of the greatest defensive players ever - definitely the best MLB.

Terrell Suggs and Anquan Boldin ran slow times at the NFL combine. Despite being excellent college players, they slipped in the draft. Yet, today, they are among the best in the NFL at their respective positions.

Size/Speed does not always translate to playing ability. These are real life examples and there are literally dozens more I could talk about. If you believe the only measuring stick for 'upside' and 'potential' is physical appearance, you need to re-evaluate.

And, yeah, Colt McCoy has potential. I'm of the opinion that he won't capitalize on it, though, but that has much more to do with his talent and ability rather than his stature.

Billick hit it on the head with Suggs (paraphrased I dont remember the exact quote) "If Terrell has to run 40 yards for a sack we have bigger problems anyway"

tbh (granted this wasn't directed @ me) I'd take Kiper and Mayock.. I think Mcshay is a joke compared to those 2
I don't really have a preference. All three know their stuff in my opinion. I only said Kiper and McShay because they always debate each other on ESPN. Personally, my favorite is Mel Kiper, Jr.
Combine numbers really lol. Barnes can be a good player dont get me wrong, he could just never piece it all together in Baltimore on a consistent basis. With Kindle you have a guy that fits what an ideal 3-4 OLB is, and he hides weight, he could very well get to 260 and not lose any explosiveness. Has a powerful bullrush, and a quick first step counter move. Barnes' pass rushing repitoire(sp) is even smaller than Kindle's is. The Demarcus Ware comparison is a little extreme lol, but my boy Fly would agree that Kindle looks, plays, and will be used alot like Boulware was for us. I got nothing but respect for Barnes, and Barnes will prob actually do really well in Phillys blitz happy scheme, but Kindle is the better football player.
Petey Boulware indeed!

I haven't bothered commenting on this thread, because anyone who questions the immense potential of Kindle simply has never followed the guy, and are forming very uneducated opinions on him. Kindle will be an elite player in this league, health permitting, and it will not take him very long to get there.
Bold statement? Sure is. But he is that talented. Take that to the bank, boys.

As for Barnes...so far in his career, he has proven to be a prototypical Combine Queen ™ I agree Philly should be a good fit for him, and i hope that he flourishes there. I dont want him getting in the way of the Kindle era.

It's great to hear that Kindle maybe able to make it to Baltimore soon!!

However after 3 weeksofhospital stay and probably another 3 weeks at least before he could do sny sort of running, it's unlikely he's done much conditioning.

He won't sign anything until he gets to Baltimore and passes a physical exam and I would imagine that it will be quite extensive; then he'll have to sign a contract, a fact that from prevous posts on the Raven's site, the Raven's have discussed w/ both the NFL office and the NFLPA.

Once that is done he then has to pass a conditioning test - THEN he can start working out!!!

I too was surprised to learn abt Barnes' trade but if this is the reason, well, I hope he can be on the field by our bye weekend.

For what it's worth, I would expect him to be signed real soon to a possible low base, incentive laden contract. I also expect him to be placed on the PUP to get his legs back under him and up to game speed before taking the field. At that point, I think he will replace Burgess or Phillips on the roster. With the time he has on his hands during rehab, I would hope he knows that playbook inside and out!

What you just said.

Additionally, you don't need to know much to rush the QB. He's only going to be a situational passrusher this year.

Yes Ive thought of that as well, there will still be some assignments he'll need to know and the plays that will be ran. But for the most part Mattison is just going to say "go get the QB".
