As a die hard Bengals fan and former TJ fan (prior to the 08 season) I couldn't help but to check out the posts here on the Ravens boards about your new WR.

I just loved the way the forums started out.....you don't want him, you don't need him, he's washed up, etc....

Then poof, he signs with your team and everyone instantly changes their opinion. Suddenly, you all are unstoppable! You are going to go all the way!

I couldn't help myself. I had to post a response. I was lm*ao about these posts!

Well, you all can enjoy TJ. The rumors are true though. He is a big crybag with a bad attitude who has a way of rubbing off on almost all the other players in the locker room, and for some reason he can really affect game play (the dude gives off serious vibes). I know this for a fact. He was the best receiver Seattle had and they still owe him SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS! Not to mention that when Marvin cleaned house after the 2008 season, we ended up having a GREAT 2009 season. So before you all start saying how much the BUNGLES suck and all that trash....remember this: we were the division champs last year!

So when you all don't go all they way are you going to put all of the blame on the former Bengal?? I really cannot wait to see how all this turns out! I am sure the Bengals killer D will go nice and easy on him week 2!
I agree with you. But isn't that the way every message board goes. Some your speaking in general terms really. Love what you have, trash what you don't.

I never thought he was washed up, I just never thought he would fit on our team, or that the Ravens would sign him. But now that he's here, might as well cheer him on, eh?

It's a cliche, but they simply made the right plays at the right times. The Bengals beat the Ravens with a last-minute drive in the first meeting and by getting off to a fast start in the second meeting and just eating up the clock the rest of the way. The Bengals offense was held to ZERO points in the second half of that second game, yet the defense also gave up only one touchdown in the second half that became moot when the Ravens failed to come back. Again, they made the right plays at the right moments. They didn't outright dominate anyone except the Bears last year, and they made a living off of 4th-quarter comebacks in the early part of the season.

Doesn't matter Franny. They got it done and we didn't. They have bragging rights for at least a few more weeks.

alot of people now of course are gonna say this and say that about the Ravens and fans from other teams are gonna come on here and say this and that about a certain player that we all thouht we'd not even take a look at. BUT the fact that we had and we did indeed sign TJ to our team, admist alot of ppl saying they wouldnt want him, he wouldnt fit in here and all that....Hes now a Raven...like it or not and IS a playmaker...like it or not.. as is Boldin...as is Heap, as is Stallworth. SO it goes wthout even saying....WHY not cheer for him now? its a natural fan reaction to HATE HATE HATE, but once a player is signed..LOVE LOVE LOVE.....fans get used to it, cuz thats just the way these fans merry go rounds go about. Me personally? over the years have learned not to voice certain points about players that because we might bring them in the future...TJ is one of those players and hes a DANG good one at that

Its like what he said.......alot of people view him as a diva and a crybaby, but they also forget...where he came from what he did growing up....basically the man of the house taking care of his mother and siblings by himself....and the way he plays on the field...reflects how far hes come....and what he can do on the field....Hes got a heart of gold, and (like Ray Ray) is extremely passionate about the game....

So people who come on here and "bash" players for something thats irrelevant is simply this...Fan vs Fan...trash talk, minus the cursing. Ignore it and it will go away.....they cant continue to talk if theres no fire to burn.

Just listened to Colin cowherds ESPN podcast for yesterday and he had peter king up there talking about the move..

Peter said there were pros and cons but only really got to focus on the cons..

He said when you bring in a receiver like TJ who probably wants to impress other teams this year and wqnt to put up big numbers on a one year rental and then only give him a limited time to grasp a phone book sized playbook...he says he doesn't really like the situation

One thing is for sure...this team is run first..and I don't think anyone wants that change...I personally don't see Boldin catching 80+ balls this year...and he's our number 1..so if TJ is here to try and put up big numbers he might as well turn around and don't even try to play

I disagree. Maybe if you're in your early 20's you want to impress, but now, at 30+, they just want a Super Bowl!

Exactly. It wasn't as if the Ravens were his only suitor. He had the option to go to other teams, some maybe having a bigger workload for him, but he chose us, knowing what his role would be. If he wanted to show off for other teams, he could have gone to another team where he would have been a #1 guy.

I agree, he came here to win. And he came here because he knows of the toughness and mentality of the team. Something that matches him perfectly, just as it did with Q. The poor kid has never won a playoff game, and coming from the Hawks, he knows what the opportunities are in Bmore for a shot at the ring. To me, hes already showing hes a team player.

I got a full speech from a Seahawk fan about how T.J. was released because he was a T.O. type distraction.

To be honest, I have not really followed his career so I don't know. Does he have "issues" or is this just sour grapes?

Not making a comment, this is a question to the people who I would believe, the flock. Potential trouble or not, whats the scoop guys?

Well I for damn sure dont want Rice getting 70+ balls thrown at him this year, so Boldin is going to be around 80

Well, his personality is definitely an acquired taste...but to say he is a TO type distraction is waaaay overblowing things. Dont worry about TJ, he'll be just fine here!

That's just it. They weren't impressive at all, yet they swept us both. Still don't know how, but they did.

IIRC an Ed Reed pick 6 that got called back didn't help things much.

Listening to TJ's press conference I was struck by something he said about his situation growing up, so I looked around on the internet for awhile & came up with this 2007 thread from bengalszone.com. This Cincinnati Enquirer article is a good read & IMO goes a long way toward, if not exactly explaining a demeanor that has put some of us off, at least showing where & how it might have come about. I don't think people understand TJ to well.

Here is the article. My link

Good luck TJ.

Tj never seemed like a lockerroom problem in cinci and his reputation is being overblown here. Hes no t.o. Besides he knows he has no room to cause trouble when the ravens are only paying him 800k and would have no problem cutting him. Not to mention the biggest factor why he wont be a problem: he chose us. He chose to come to the ravens knowing that we already had anquan boldin and derrick mason. If he was all about catches and not winning, he would have went elsewhere.

The guy's a fiery competitor, he wants to win, he wants the ball, good. I don't want a wallflower wide receiver, I want a guy like TJ...who's just like Anquan and Derrick in that regard.

He's expressed understanding of all the weapons we have and that he may not get many touches some weeks, and he's fine with that. If he starts mouthing off and causing distractions in the future, criticize him then, but not now for stuff in the past or potential problems. Give the guy a chance, he's a talented receiver and just got here.

Yeah, he's not a T.O. type, he just has a temper and is a little bit of a sore loser at times. Part of me can't blame him since he was part of a team with a losing culture for so long, so any competitor would be frustrated in that situation. However, I'm just hoping his temper doesn't get the best of him during a crucial moment in a big game. Houshmandzadeh's slowly growing on me, but I'll still be a hypocrite and cheer for him when he makes a big play and criticize him when he messes up; I just can't change my opinion of him so quickly.

I agree with you. I like his competetiveness, we finally have a few guys on offense that have that fire. Boldin, Mason, Tj, Mcclain, Oher. I think its a good balance now, compared to years past we never really had that kinda guy on offense.

Im totally good with Tj, as long as hes not making bonehead plays at critical moments by loosing his temper and getting personal fouls.

Tell me about it. Steelers never lost a game by more than 7 points last year. ONE play in any one of those games and we're in the playoffs instead of the Jets.

Im happy we got Housh... I was one of the guys who hated him [Because he wasn't a Raven and was a division rival] all in all it was a great pickup... i didnt see much potential in Clayton like others did. We get older with this move but we get better so im all for it!
