She's gone. It's like once per month (less in the off season) someone from another team comes in and provides me some entertainment by getting you guys all riled up. That one was too short lived. I DEMAND another sacrifice!

They don't quite have your dedication. ;)

Admittedly, spelling smack is lame, but I was trying to be funny. Truce.

Ravens suck; go Steelers. ;)

I'm sorry but this statement has begun to get a little old. Joe is just one player. Yes, QB is arguably the most important position on the field and for any team to be successful in today's league, you need your QB to perform at a consistently high level. However, there are numerous factors that a QB simply can't control.

I really don't see how a lack of experience, generally ineffective WR play and several serious injuries count as "excuses".
[/quote]

Yeah, I am not exactally sure what I ment by "Flacco has no excuses"

He has SO many quality recievers, and decent protection, a 4,000 season is well with in his ability all things considered.

Trust me it wasnt of of those "shape up or ship out" comments. Not in the least.

Smart gal...bad taste in men though. :P j/k

So twice per year, you guys are at each others' throats? lol

Can't wait until week 4. I think we'll be improved this year as well. Obviously I have respect for the Ravens too.

nah we do pretty good come gameday when its ravens and steelers, alittle more intense, but more than manageable. Before her, not gonna lie, i was a steeler hater, but now I have a great respect for them. And knowing the rivalry, its always up and down, so I just let it be what it is. If its a loss, then shes happy (so i'm ultimately happy), if its a win, i'm still happy :D

You're a good man OC! Or is she looking over your shoulder? lol

I dated a Cowboys fan once. I actually almost dumped her immediately following SB XXX. We broke up a month or so later.

I'm glad everyone knew their roles and...well, we'll finish that catchphrase another time. :P

Getting back on-topic, though, it was interesting how we had only one Bengals fan show up to comment on the Houshmandzadeh signing thus far...you'd think that, with how heated (and childish) some of them got over on the other forums, we'd have an army of them here.

(No, I'm not trying to jinx us!)

There's this weird dichotomy; as much as Ravens fans generally respect the Steelers (and vice versa) and even with all the bad blood, it seems as if a lot of us are begrudgingly respecting the Bengals for their division title until the season starts.

I'm not sure if that type of reluctant respect would be handed out to, say, the Browns if they ever made to the top of the division.

The Bengals kicked all our butts. Sweeping a division is a rare occurrence and does warrant some respect. That said, I still they're a one-hit wonder.

I have no respect for the Bengals. Sure they caught us last year, but they sure didn't impress me in the process.

I gained that type of respect for the Steelers because they were on several occasions able to take everything we had to throw at them and still find a way to somehow squeak out a win in the final seconds. I respect that because that's what I want to see out of the Ravens.

To me I still can't help but see the Bengals as the division's middle man, below us but better than the Browns.

Maybe if they do it again this year I will be forced to respect them but they have a long way to go and two other teams in the Division that are very good to say the least

That's just it. They weren't impressive at all, yet they swept us both. Still don't know how, but they did.

I'm pretty much in the same boat you are. IF they do it again, then maybe i'll start leaning to respecting them. But fact is, they just dont have back to back successful years. We will see tho, they have the talent this year. But i'm still more worried about the steelers than the bengals

For me it's more bewilderment than begrudging respect.

It's easier to swallow the Bengals divisional title, in my opinion, because it's sort of a once in a full blue moon accomplishment. They've been pretty irrelevant most years whereas the Steelers have been a perennial problem. I think I'd probably have the same reaction if the Browns won the division, but I may never know...

The fact that we can still fall back on the Ravens post-season wins doesn't hurt either.

Defense, and the fact that the team pulled together after Zimmerman's wife passed away. Atleast thats all I could come up with lol

It's a cliche, but they simply made the right plays at the right times. The Bengals beat the Ravens with a last-minute drive in the first meeting and by getting off to a fast start in the second meeting and just eating up the clock the rest of the way. The Bengals offense was held to ZERO points in the second half of that second game, yet the defense also gave up only one touchdown in the second half that became moot when the Ravens failed to come back. Again, they made the right plays at the right moments. They didn't outright dominate anyone except the Bears last year, and they made a living off of 4th-quarter comebacks in the early part of the season.
