"Houshmandzadeh, whose deal with Baltimore was reported to be worth the veteran minimum of $855,000"

EXPLAIN THIS NOAWWWWWW

HOW? Steal of the gosh darn decade
Really it came down to which team did he want to play for. Because from the sounds of it, everybody was offering the same to hook the Seahawks. Or more so, nobody was throwing a contract extension his way. He chose us. Probably because we have a great shot at a title and he gets to stick it to one of his former teams.

As stated earlier, the Seahawks are on the hook for roughly $7 million in releasing Houshmandzadeh, so Seattle has to pay the difference between that and whatever amount he gets from his new team, hence his willingness to sign with any team of his choice for the veteran minimum. Housh is getting paid no matter what, he just chose to sign with a championship contender.
Ah, still couldnt he get a second contract though?

Also, you can't be serious about people just finding out about this to read through mega threads. I've done that here before from request, and its really not realistic.

Man, after reading the Cincy message boards, these guys are NERVOUS!!!! They are not happy about us signing Housh. They believe their LBs will get continuously toasted over the middle by our receivers. I effin LOVE IT!!!!!! And that pic is ridiculously disturbing what a bunch of classless buffoons those bungles fans are!

ESPN just said that Ray Lewis called T.J. to help finalize the deal today.
Hmmmm. That must be a change from the usual big hit.

Seattle owes him $7 million, whether or not he goes to another team, and has to pay the difference of that $7 million if he signs a contract with a new team (which he did in this case); if I understand these types of contracts correctly (and don't quote me on this), but if he were to negotiate an entirely new contract extension with his new team while still getting paid by Seattle, his new team would then become responsible for paying that $7 million, not the Seahawks.

I'd still wait on Adam Schefter or Jason La Canfora to confirm such a scenario, though.

Stefan Logan? Because he couldn't both return kicks AND play WR like Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Saunders can.
probably bc he's a RB not a WR...

I'll admit it, I was wrong with this one (quick, someone quote this in case I edit it and remove me admitting that I was wrong).

I will say, the usage of the question marks was a bit confusing though.....sorry, had to!

It's all good I can see that we all love our Ravens, I just happen to like ???? Marks I guess LOL
Go Ravens!!!!

That just confirms the following: 99% of Cincy fans are either 5 years old or have extremely stunted mental growth.

Now we no longer have to speculate.
Where exactly did you get that statistic? I'm pretty sure 99% of Bengals fan didn't comment and acknowledge their support of that picture. It's simply not cool to group everyone up into one negative category because as we all know, it's simply not true.

What is true, however, is that every team (including the Ravens) has fans that are immature and misinterpret what their favorite organization really stands for. It's best to not take part in things like that and call out Bengals fans as a whole because all it does is add fuel to the fire.

On topic though,
I'm fairly certain that Seattle has to pay the majority of TJ's veterans minimum deal and the Ravens have to pay something like $1 million, which is a steal in my book. In his situation, it wasn't about the money but more about where he would like playing. I can't think of a more promising team than the Ravens, so it made sense.

I'd say maybe 65-70% of us were wrong. It just didn't seem likely, especially given the bad blood that he had with the team when he was a Bengal. Then again, I had pretty much forgotten that his beef was with Bart Scott and Rex Ryan, not necessarily the whole team.

I vaguely remember T.J.'s war of words with Bart. Was it in 2006 or '07? Regardless, they should get "reacquainted" next Monday.

Well, we just narrowly avoided a major grease fire in the kitchen trying to cook lumpia (a filipino egg roll type appetizer). I need another week off now!

probably bc he's a RB not a WR...
He wasn't a RB until we transitioned him to RB FROM WR which is the only position he ever lined up at, again at the discretion of the Steelers. He was a KR with no other designation before then.

Here endeth a lesson.

The more I read about him the more excited I am to have him on our team. He seems like a TEAM player.

Flacco has no excuses this year.

I'm sorry but this statement has begun to get a little old. Joe is just one player. Yes, QB is arguably the most important position on the field and for any team to be successful in today's league, you need your QB to perform at a consistently high level. However, there are numerous factors that a QB simply can't control.

I really don't see how a lack of experience, generally ineffective WR play and several serious injuries count as "excuses".

As a die hard Bengals fan and former TJ fan (prior to the 08 season) I couldn't help but to check out the posts here on the Ravens boards about your new WR.

I just loved the way the forums started out.....you don't want him, you don't need him, he's washed up, etc....

Then poof, he signs with your team and everyone instantly changes their opinion. Suddenly, you all are unstoppable! You are going to go all the way!

I couldn't help myself. I had to post a response. I was lm*ao about these posts!

Well, you all can enjoy TJ. The rumors are true though. He is a big crybag with a bad attitude who has a way of rubbing off on almost all the other players in the locker room, and for some reason he can really affect game play (the dude gives off serious vibes). I know this for a fact. He was the best receiver Seattle had and they still owe him SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS! Not to mention that when Marvin cleaned house after the 2008 season, we ended up having a GREAT 2009 season. So before you all start saying how much the BUNGLES suck and all that trash....remember this: we were the division champs last year!

So when you all don't go all they way are you going to put all of the blame on the former Bengal?? I really cannot wait to see how all this turns out! I am sure the Bengals killer D will go nice and easy on him week 2!
