...Oh and P.S.

If I were Cam Cameron (which I am not), my first three offensive plays would be passes...turn Bart Scott and company around and let them chase our RBs and TEs for awhile... let them know what the deal is...

but that's just me...

Just let em know we can ground and pound and air it out whenever we want to!

Hope your right, but this wont be easy win at all for the Ravesn. Heck the Jets could just hand the ball off all night and still keep it close. The Jets defense will either win or lose the game. I don't see Sanchez scoring more than 10 pts, if I was to bet it would be Jets 10, Ravens 16.
I didnt say it would be easy, but I do beleive that we will be dominant through the entire game on both sides of the ball.

I've already ran my mouth at work, might as well do it here too.

The Jets have an excellent defense. Aggressive, run stopping 3-4 scheme

So do the Ravens.

The Jets have a crushing running game...

Ditto the Ravens.

The Jets are not where they'd like to be with their DBs

Neither are the Ravens.

The Jets QB is suspect and has limited weaponry at his disposal.

Um....err...Hmm....

I think this game will boil down to Flacco Vs Sanchez.
Ravens win 28-3 or 28 - 6 or 28-12 don't think they score a TD.

That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it.
I have to agree, I do not see the Jets scoring a TD.

Funky, your opinion and mine are usually opposite. However, I totally agree with you.

Sure the Jets defense might be slightly better than ours, but let's see how they do without their #1 corner. Let's see how Sanchez does playing against an elite defense. The toughest defense he had to face last year was that of the Bengals.

We all know that Flacco is far ahead of where Sanchez is, and I'll say it..Flacco has better weapons around him, a better running game, and if Gaither returns..a better Oline.

The Ravens overall are just a better team that the Jets. Sure the Jets may be physical and mean but they aren't that good

Is this some kind of sick House of a 1000 Corpses face wearing or a more tamer John Travolta/Nicolas Cage thing? Very Important.
Lol, just sayin rock some extra Purple/Black/and Gold for us out there. But your right, the amount of crap i hear from when its just a painted face to painted face + Purple toga is just stupid. I think i was called ever name in the book!

New scene.
Elaine is at Puddy's apartment, waiting in the living room while he gets ready.

Elaine: So how long have you been a Devils' fan?

Puddy (off camera): Since I was a kid, I'm from Jersey.

Elaine: Yeah? Well, we're gonna kick your butts tonight.

Puddy: Hey, no way, man.

Elaine: Yes.

Puddy: We're primed.

Elaine: Alright, you almost ready? Cause Jerry and Kramer are gonna be here
any second.

Puddy enters wearing a Devils' jersey and red and green paint all over his face.

Elaine: What the--

Puddy: So what do you think?

Elaine: What is that?

Puddy: I painted my face.

Elaine (still in disbelief): You painted your face?

Puddy: Yeah.

Elaine: Why?

Puddy: You know, support the team.

Elaine: Well, you can't walk around like that.

Puddy: Why not?

Elaine: Because it's insane?

Puddy: Hey, you gotta let them know you're out there, this is the playoffs.

There's a knock at the door, Puddy answers it. It's Jerry and Kramer. Kramer
enters first and does a typical 'Kramer take' when he sees Puddy's painted face.
He recovers quickly.

Kramer: Hey.

Puddy: Hey.

Elaine: Dave, um, painted his face.

Kramer: Yeah, that's cool. Well, you gotta support your team.

Puddy: Ok, ready to go?

Kramer: Yeah.

Puddy (startlingly loud): LET'S GET IT ON!!! Alright!! Go Devils!! Go
Devils!! Let's go Devils!!

and Yes, my Girl thinks i'm insane on Game Days, she wouldn't be caught dead going to a game with me.

and to everybody commenting on the JETS D being # 1, remember it was #1 with their starters. They will be without 2 starters, and big play makers at that, for our game which most likely brings their D back down to 2 or 3rd ranked.

Its a tough D regardless but i would not give them the #1 tag in their current situation.

What i think will be to our advantage is Rex's Blitzing. We all know Rex and i think it would be safe to assume he has something to prove against us and he will be sending the full force. If Flacco can dump the ball quickly we'll short pass over them all night long.

To the OP - I say we take them. Easy? Of course not. Barring turnovers, the best team will win over the course of 4 quarters and we are the better team.

The blitzes concern me. The Ravens offensive line has been suspect (sometimes just plain bad) and Flacco doesn't usually excel against the blitz, to put it nicely.

He has his days, he played well last year against Pitt twice and their blitz even though he was sacked like 40 times, he played well against Pitt and Philly in 2008, and played really well against Minnesota last year even though they dont blitz their front 4 made it seem like they were to Joe im sure. Like I said, Cam is going to have to get the ball out of Joe's hand fast and to his TEs.

Just something else to keep an eye on is Cromartie apparently has reinjured his hip. The Jets may be down both their starting corners come week 1. I honestly dont think the Jets will get a deal done with Revis before week 1.

Considering how the Jets got into the playoffs last year, (it wasnt anything to be proud of), the fact they lost a couple key players, wont have Holmes till week 5, Pace is gone 4 to 6 weeks, Sanchez is already showing signs of a sophmore slump, and their bark is worse than their bite. I think they have a great defense but you cant win on Defense alone. I know we pretty much did it in 2000 but we were a rare but special team. You must score offensively to some extent. I just dont see the Jets putting up enough points to win especially against our stingy defense.

In all honesty I see the Jets possibly losing their first 3 games, and going 2 and 4 by week 7s bye. I believe that Rex has placed an order for his team and they just wont be able to pay up. They will end up 3rd in their division.

Hopefully some of our injured will be ready to go week 1 and even if they are not, our team has enough depth at just about every position we should kick the crap out of the Jets and finally put this silly, undeserved, hyped up question of who is the better team to rest. We will be at least 11 and 1 come season end and the Jets will be lucky to see 8 and 8.

even with Sanchez on the ropes the jets defense will be formidable. if Sanchez can hold it together I don't think we will win in New York but if we can get to him and cause him to make some mistakes it might be the difference-however my prediction 13-10 jets!

The show hard knocks and the coach Rex Ryan have portrayed that the Jets are a unstoppable force and can't be beat. Yes they are a decent team but can they be beat, can a team like the Ravens go into New Jersey and beat the Jets? I think so but I want to see it in two weeks. I'm tired of the Jets hoopla and how good they think they are. The Colts beat them up last year in the AFC Championship game and I don't see them a threat to the Ravens, Patriots or the Colts.
Thoughts?

.....countdown to j-e-t-s!!! i want to go up to new york, walk up to rex.. punch him in the mouth...run all over his defense (incl bart..hahaha) and leave that stadium feeling like a brand new condom that just got wasted on a premature ejaculation. yep.

i am DEFINITELY ready for some "real" football!!!

i just hope our troops are ready.

it would be an awesome reality check for the jets...they are talking such big game and all.

come on rex....let's watch u cry during your 1st postgame interview...maybe it will humble ur ***!

Without Stallworth, we're definitely going to need Clayton or Williams(if he makes the cut) because I think we'll have to establish the deep ball against the Jets blitzing.
We have to remember, if Rex is going to do his organized chaos thing, it was started here and performed here first, so we should be ready to go against it, probably more than any team.

Totally disagree. If Revis is out, Cromartie will be on Boldin, meaning the big mismatch there is Boldins physicality. Short slants, curls, etc. would be our best bet.

This pretty much sums up my feelings/concerns about the Jets. It'll be a defensive showdown and it'll come down to who can produce the most turnovers. I think we can put enough pressure on Sanchez to where he will make more costly mistakes. I think Flacco will be capable of making less mistakes over Sanchez.

We will find out soon enough if Revis will indeed be playing by Week 1. I believe they have less than a week before he's either active or inactive for playing. I honestly could care less if he plays or not. IMO the damage of his holdout has already been done to the Jets.

I gotta go with the Ravens over the Jets week 1, even though I'm a Jets fan. Basically any Jets fan who knows his stuff is very worried about this game.

Sanchez still looks pretty unsure of himself. He's telegraphing his passes, and seems determined to fit balls into dangerous situations. The Ravens front 7 are not going to make it easy for him, but he needs to be patient with his reads if he wants to play turnover free football. I think it might take him a few weeks before he feels comfortable holding the ball in the pocket after coming off knee surgery. Hopefully the Jets line can hold the fort on passing plays long enough for Sanchez to get his confidence up.

With Revis most likely out, Cromartie could struggle with the physical Boldin. I would give him some physical safety help, but unfortunately that guy might be out week 1 as well (Brodney Pool). Every member of the starting secondary outside Jim Leonard might be new, so this will be their first real game together. It might take this group a few weeks to get it together.

Calvin Pace, the Jets only real pass rushing threat, will be out week 1. This puts even more pressure on this untested secondary. Hopefully the Jets can find other ways to get pressure (Jason Taylor??), or they could be in trouble defensively.

The Jets have a great run defense, but their weakness lies against runners that can break it to the outside and get the edge... Ray Rice is definitely one of these type of players. I think Rice is the perfect RB to combat the Jets defense. He's fast enough to get outside against a 3-4 defense, and he's powerful enough to break arm tackles by outside linebackers and CB/safeties. The Jets need David Harris shadowing Rice if they are going to stop the Baltimore rushing game.

The only way I really see the Jets winning this game is if Sanchez can find the holes in the Baltimore secondary and not turn the ball over. Dustin Keller needs to be productive early in order to keep the Baltimore linebackers from over committing to the run and pass rush. If the Jets can establish the run and short passing game early, they might be able to keep the Ravens D off balance. Turnovers could be the key in a game featuring two great defenses. Could be a long day for Jets....

Ravens can do anything but things need to happen for them to win.
Keep flags in ref pockets
Offense need to be fast and sharp good mix of run and pass, do some hurry up like 3rd preseason game to keep defense off balance.
Keep joe upright
Defense play like a raven
Sack or pressure QB all night ,don't let him get comfy
Now we need some luck to go our way.
Keep your cool, don't let the trash talking make you stupid
Ok, just do this and it's a WIN!!!!!!

really if our offense comes out like it did against the giants.. i legitimately do not see how this game will be close...

im not scared at all of sanchez and i believe suggs will get to him early and often. sure our secondary is a little weak but i dont see sanchez being able to attack it hard at all with edwards and cotchery.. keller will definitely have a good game but i believe we will bend but not break all night long

27-13 ravens

For me I think if we are going to win we need to shut down the run and keep the penalties to none. Sanchez looks like he is scared out there and when the Ravens come to town he should be. And we all know Jason Taylor will show up late to the game.

Lets settle it down this way, and this goes for the entire season not just week 1.
Our defense is built around many things, lots of talent, we'll get some turnovers.
Our Offense is now likely to score when it gets the ball, even a field goal.
We will not only be more likely to score when we get the ball from our defense stopping the other teams offense, but we'll also be more likely to score off turnovers, which our defense should get us our share.
We have an upgraded defense, that will get us the ball back probably more often than last year, and then our offense is set up to score more often, or give us more chances, plus we'll run the clock out while doing so, if need be.
It depends how Cam calls the plays, and how efficient our offense is, because we may score a lot quickly.
Many people think our defense will be off the field more, but that will depend on how quick we can score.

thought about quoting an earlier post, decided against feeding what to me has become an obvious troll.

I did see someone else mention sanchez showing signs of a sophomore slump...wait now- don't you need to have a decent rookie year to fall into a slump? Sanchez sucked last year! The Jets made it to the playoffs in spite of him. He doesn't really scare me.

As far as the Jets running game...they lost their top rusher in Jones, and cut a great blocker in faneca. Shonn Greene might be a great RB, but he hasn't proven anything yet.

As far as im concerned the Jets haven't proven they have any offense at all,and without Revis and Pace, their defense could be in for a bit of a slide to start the season. I'm a bit of a homer, i admit that easily. But i think the Ravens win this one by at least 2 TDs. Praying that I don't have to eat any crow on that one :)

Going to go ahead and change my prediction. Jets over the Ravens, 20-16.

Revis being back is pretty big. I think Cromartie would have had a lot of trouble with him. He's also the surest tackler in our secondary, so Ray Rice getting outside doesn't worry me quiteas much... definitely still worries me.

I still think it'll probably come down to Sanchez being able to convert 3rd downs, and turnover differential. Hopefully the Jets take care of the ball and start off the season with a solid win over a team I think they'll meet again this year in the playoffs.

I've been reading the 15 pages+ over in the jets board and the level of arrogance and confidence is insane! They've done nothing for how long? Now, they go 9 -7 with a *@$% ton of help and they're suddenly the best thing ever in the NFL?

I need Monday to be today!!!!!
