1st Game Against The Jets

83 posts in this topic

The show hard knocks and the coach Rex Ryan have portrayed that the Jets are a unstoppable force and can't be beat. Yes they are a decent team but can they be beat, can a team like the Ravens go into New Jersey and beat the Jets? I think so but I want to see it in two weeks. I'm tired of the Jets hoopla and how good they think they are. The Colts beat them up last year in the AFC Championship game and I don't see them a threat to the Ravens, Patriots or the Colts.
Thoughts?

i believe preseason game 3 is a good scale to see where a team is at and the jets pretty much suck. Its gonna be an easy win. Sanchez 2 ints.

Jets can beat the Pats in regular season games because division rivals know each other so well, but as far as winning the AFC East, they're going to have to hope the division games work in their favor (i.e., Miami sweeping NE, losing to Jets).

As far as our game is concerned, we're the dominant team no question. I wonder what the betting line for the game will be since it's a good indicator of whether the NFL fanbase has bought into the Jets hype or takes their preseason offensive struggles into consideration.

Now if you meant wear your face in an Ed Gein sort of way, then you're talking.

This is not a game I am worried about. I am not saying that the Jets will be an easy win, but barring unforeseen circumstances, it will be a win, none the less. I expect it will be a fun game to watch, but I do not see Sanchez holding well against our pass rush, and Rice is custom made to beat their defense. Just an amateurs opinion.

Hope your right, but this wont be easy win at all for the Ravesn. Heck the Jets could just hand the ball off all night and still keep it close. The Jets defense will either win or lose the game. I don't see Sanchez scoring more than 10 pts, if I was to bet it would be Jets 10, Ravens 16.

Is this some kind of sick House of a 1000 Corpses face wearing or a more tamer John Travolta/Nicolas Cage thing? Very Important.

Not to worry about the Jets funky. They can be beat. Rex can beat his chest all he wants.

He's already shown flaws in preseason. He's started his starters way more than any team in the league and he has made a point to stress winning these meaning less preseason games. Guess what, he's lost twice and looked that much foolish.

Jets are a giant balloon of hot air. All it takes is a little pin to pop the whole thing. We'll be the first to pop that balloon come two weeks.

Hardknocks is not showing much just things that they think are interesting. I don't think Rex is down on the team as much as it appears. However the Jets offense has not looked very good in the past couple of preseason games. Ithink we will pull a win out of this game but the Jets are going to get better over the season. Hopefully we can put pressure on Sanchez through the left guard position. They did not look good with their guard play. Under two weeks until the season starts. Let's go Ravens!!

why Im glad you asked....

game # 479

BAL @ NJY -3.... so the jets are actually getting a .5 point nod as typical lines for home teams are listed at -2.5. Sharp bettors are playing the Ravens heavy, driving the juice on the a play on BAL to +3 (-125) meaning if you want to bet on the Ravens and want to win 100, you have to wager 125 of your cash, whereas the Jets -3 you have to pay 95 to win 100.

This public service announcement brought to you by me, a degenerate gambler.

You're betting on the Ravens then, right? It's a lock. In fact I GUARANTEE the Ravens win week 1. I'm seeing a score of about 24-13.

I hope your right about the first part. Let them hand the ball off all night. Good money is on the Ravens rush defense. With the Ravens new passing threat, I don't think they'll keep it close doing that though.

Heap/Dickson/Pitta need to come to play that night, Cam needs to attack their safeties when their in man coverage, Leonhard is 5'8 smart, good tackler, average coverage skills, Smith is below average for an NFL FS imo. Cam needs to attack them and attack them often.

I'll be somewhat shocked if Revis and Reed don't start this game. I'll be more shocked if Revis doesn't start since Reed is recovering from an injury and Revis just wants money.
I expect to see them both play. If Revis is covering Boldin all night, that's fine with me, because who's going to be covering Mason, Heap, Dickson, Clayton, Rice, etc?
We'll see a very physical game, possible injuries, but it's an immediate test and even if we lose, we'll have a great defense to learn from as a reference point.
For that reason I'm happy it's our first game.
The Jets will test our offense and we'll learn from that.
Who cares if we lose, it's the first game, against arguably the best defense in the league, if that's not an extension of the preseason, I don't know what is.
The thing is, I don't think we'll lose. I don't see the Jets offense being effective against our defense. We will have the game won in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.
I'm thinking the Jets will come out strong, being home and all, and they might have the lead after the 1st quarter, but after that and a possible turnover, it's Ravens football.
My only concern is that Cody won't be available for the Jets game, as is being said.
Whether that's true, we'll have to wait and see.
There is a chance it could be a close game, but really, being the first game of the season, I expect the Ravens to put the Jets to shame.

I've already ran my mouth at work, might as well do it here too.

The Jets have an excellent defense. Aggressive, run stopping 3-4 scheme

So do the Ravens.

The Jets have a crushing running game...

Ditto the Ravens.

The Jets are not where they'd like to be with their DBs

Neither are the Ravens.

The Jets QB is suspect and has limited weaponry at his disposal.

Um....err...Hmm....

I think this game will boil down to Flacco Vs Sanchez.
Ravens win 28-3 or 28 - 6 or 28-12 don't think they score a TD.

That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it.

...Oh and P.S.

If I were Cam Cameron (which I am not), my first three offensive plays would be passes...turn Bart Scott and company around and let them chase our RBs and TEs for awhile... let them know what the deal is...

but that's just me...

With this new CB, Revis might be out, Pace might be out. QB play will win this game and like the Flacco vs Ben games (Rookie year) experience won the day. So shall the Ravens against the Jets week 1.
