What Could Arian Foster's Rank Be This Year?

18 posts in this topic

I just made a trade for Arian Foster for two backups, but that is not the point. As several of you all already know, I already have a stacked team and some have even called me out for it (but nothing personal lol, so lets not start the discussion this way). The reason I'm reposting in this fantasy football section is to ask just what Arian Foster's rank may be this year. I could see him as a top 15 back (granted he's not proven, but he's proven enough lol). He has a great running scheme tailored to his strengths, an underrated O line, and a very potent passing game. He also has very little competition behind him, as Tate is done for the year, and Slaton looks a little banged up and is looking more and more like a 3rd down back. Opinions??

I'm on the Arian Foster love boat. He doesn't have the talent like a MJD, AP, CJ or Frank Gore. But he has grit. I think his ceiling could be like Turner's TD production but with less yards and more catches. So around Turner's point production he could ceiling at. That's saying a lot.

But if he comes out and fumbles a couple of times. Or if he stumbles, Kubiak has no issue with pulling his starter. So his floor is still pretty low.

He fits the mold. 1) He plays on an offensive team that can put up a lot of points 2) His competition behind him is limping in 3) He's gained the confidence of his coaches 4) He gets goalline carries 5) He can catch out of the backfield.

Slayton will turn into a chester taylor type guy. Come in during long 3rd down passing downs. Johnson could spell Foster when he comes out.

I'm expected big things from this kid this year.

I think that foster will have a good year but dont sleep on slaton either they will split carries therefore both of em wont have those elite yards and TDs (although foster is more of the goalline back)

as regards slaton i think he will have a solid year again had a lot of fumbles last year but in an interview he said that he had problems with his forearm and had minor surgery to repair it so slaton maybe another sleeper noone wants to take

They won't be splitting carries. All reports indicate Foster will get the lion's share of the carries and in the team's pre-season dress rehearsal last week, he got 22 touches as opposed to Slaton who got 2.

keep in mind the Texans signed Derrick Ward, who will steal at least a few carries away from Foster... I traded Felix Jones for Arian Foster in my league a few days ago, but still, it's something to think about

That's true. Also remember though, Ward was so sluggish this pre-season, TB(who aren't exactly overflowing with offensive talent) cut him. He could poach some carries later in the year but right now, I'd say Foster is the unquestioned "man".

That's very true.

I'm just hoping enough people doubt him so his value can go back down because, right now, it's hyper-inflated.

It's doubtful. His big game against the Cowboys and various sources plugging have shot him up the boards.

Only Ward can muddle another RB situation. First the Giants, then the Bucs, now the Texans. Him and Julius Jones should go into the anti-fantasy hall of fame. Both ruin fantasy values on any team they go to.

This dude had 41 points on my fantasy team! Unfortunately, I had him on the bench with Ray Rice and Reshard Mendenhall being the RB's. :(

I might have to take Mendenhall out and see what Arian can do next week...

Redskins will be much better at stopping the run than the Colts were.

It doesn't really matter that the Redskins are better at stopping the run, especially when you have Andre Johnson you have to deal with first. Then you have Jacoby Jones, and an underperformer in Kevin Walter, then you have to deal with Play Action passes to Owen Daniels. If the Redskins want any chance to win the next game, they'll have to stop the passing attack of the Texans. Granted, Foster won't get 231 yards/3 TD's, but he doesn't have too. He just has to be himself and get 100, and at least 1 TD.

If he can be consistent and contineu to rush for 100+ yards a game, then he could go for 2,000 yards.
I highly doubt Foster rushes for 2000 yards but if he stays healthy, I can see him finishing somewhere between 1000-1400 yards.

I'm a big Foster fan, but I can't see him racking up 2000 yards. They do have some tough run D's in their upcoming season including us and the Jets.

Luckily for Foster he gets to face Indy again. He could have 500 total rushing yards alone on Indy!

But 1200 sounds about right.
