Anyone Notice This Ex-Raven?

15 posts in this topic

Ive watched several preseason games with the detroit lions. All of the Detroit announcers rave about how well Steven Hauschka has been kicking. I was pretty surprised. I'm not sure if its simply because its pre-season or maybe that hes got some experience under his belt, but its funny to see such a hated kicker in baltimore become so talked about in another city. Anyone else notice this?

He was actually picked up by the Falcons. They cut him a few weeks ago. Then the lions picked him up while Jason Hanson gets back from injury. Once that happens Hausch will be cut again.

Now how about another guy. Yamon Figurs is vying for the third WR spot in Oakland. Go figure. Now with Chaz Schillens out for a while Yamon could see some playing time at WR. Wow!

Figurs has blazing speed, he's paper thin, and he's got cinder blocks for hands. He fits the prototypical WR mold in Oakland perfectly

Figures had that nice catch in Houston 2 years ago, he has some potential.

LOL! I remember Dan Cody playing one game. He also has potential.

He had a great camp and preseason showing last year for the Ravens as well. Then he choked when it mattered.

Yea, and how many tackles did he register, exactly. Dan Cody had potential in college, until he got injured all the time. Figures was a pretty good return man, and when or if he caught the ball, could be pretty dangerous running with it. Its called potential, not that he is ...

As I was told in high school by one of my favorite teachers, "Potential's just a fancy word for somethin' ya ain't done yet."

That was also a poster my basketball coach from high school put up on our door. Very true meaning and I still remember it from this day.

Anyways, yes, every kicker is good, until he misses, then he is kicked to the curb for a while. But that's just the NFL...

David Tyree had a spectacular catch in the SB.. yet I don't see him starting @ WR

I also had a high school teacher who said one of the worst insults is, "well, they had potential."

Then there's our former RB with "potential" Cedric Peerman, now active with the Bengals...

(However, with all due respect-- all of these guys have more "potential" playing football than I do)
