Ravens Acquire Josh Wilson In Trade With Seahawks

212 posts in this topic

After looking back at the video on page 2, I have to say I'm pretty pumped about what he brings to the table. He has awesome speed and looks like a better tackler at the CB position, which we could use. Not to mention 3 of his 6 interceptions were returned for touchdowns. This guy sounds like a playmaking Raven. I think if Webb isn't ready come week 1, he should definitely get the start over Carr at the #2 spot.

Here is a really good writeup from a seahawks writer...

Great trade, however it seems the guy has alot of swagger and my command a large contract so I think it's a 1 year rental. Good move for now anyway.

That kid is crazy physical and a playmaker. Great deal. Should test him as the number two corner.

Goodbye Travis Fisher.

It depends on how many years are left on his current contract. I highly doubt Ozzie would trade away one of his precious picks for a one-year guy. We'll try to lock him up for a while if at all possible.

He's 5'9" and still relatively inexperienced, could he develop into a #1 CB? can he press receivers? he's also in his contract year so if he does perform well we're gonna have to pay him along with Ngatas monster contract. I also don't think starters should be on return duty.

Off topic: I only know who he is because I used to trade for him on Madden, A potential haha

That's all we need him for really. Then we can assess the situation next offseason. He has all the incentive in the world to put together a big year, because he's still in a contract year.

If he plays lights out for us, it works out and we sign him. If he stinks it up, then we used him as a bandaid and its all good. Either way we are going to get the best from him.

The one thing this move makes me wonder is if Prince Miller will be sticking around (Or PS). Miller has looked very poor in coverage. And now that Wilson can also play special teams as a return man, Miller has to work really hard in PS Game 4.

He was underpaid for CB but unless, he starts every game(meaning something went wrong) and excels, I don't see him commanding a large contract. He could definitely be re-signed.

I think the fact that it's a one year deal isn't a bad thing. Webb and Fabe won't be back to their best this year and fox won't play at all. We'll have them all back next year so we won't need Wilson unless he tears it up as a Raven.

Darn. At least that means he should play well if he wants to get paid. If he does have a good season, I hope we can hold onto him.

All I know is for a 5th round pick we hosed them. I tip my hat off to Ozzie. He's a former 2nd round pick, who's played like a 2nd round pick.

The good news for Miller is that Wilson hasn't returned a punt since H.S. but I agree he has his work cut out for him if he wants to make the final roster.

All indacations state that this was a great move. I like the thought of having a great return guy again.
It's a conditional fifth-round pick, meaning if Wilson plays a certain number of snaps/games it bumped up to a higher pick.
Thanks. I was wondering what that condition might have been.

If we plays enough it goes to a 4th round I believe..

yeahh man i totally agree. i am excited to have him here. but....nothing against Travis Fisher. i think hed beat having Frank Walker at CB any day...but i could deal with having CB depth that looks like this:

Washington
Webb
Wilson
Carr
Fisher
Cary Williams

in my opinion, we're set for this year, barring any injuries *knock on wood*

This is just my opinion, but Fisher has looked lost at times during the preseason. Right now I would put Williams ahead of Fisher. Cary is much younger and has played inspired football if you ask me.

Anyone still want to see Ozzie just completely rip-off another GM?

Al Davis maybe? :P
We could probably pry Chris Johnson (the CB) from Davis for 7th round considerations :P.

I don't agree with starting Webb as the number two corner just this quick. Remember he still was a rookie last year and coming off an injury. I could see this.

Washington
Wilson
Webb
Carr
Cary Williams
Travis Fisher

Well I'm not too sure about my own list. Carr has played well and him not getting being ahead of someone coming off injury but the Ravens are high on Webb.

I agree Webb is still a second year guy coming off a major knee injury. I can see the team wanting to work him back into the game as a nickel. This puts the pressure off Rushing Webb back.

I can't see Travis Fisher making this team. He'll be gone come the next cut. Ofcourse I thought the same thing about Frank last year (still think they should have kept Oglesby over Walker).

I couldn't believe it myself. Oglesby was making plays all over the place the last pre-season game while Frank did nothing but get beat. The coaches must have been asleep.

As for the team's current CB situation, honestly, I'm excited. Barring an injury in the first two weeks, the coaches will actually have options when Cary Williams returns.

Me neither. He has done nothing in preseason. Honestly, I thought he looked confused out there in any games I saw him in. Of all our corners, he screams "Frank Walker!" to me the most. At least Prince Miller has deflected a couple passes.

I remember him laying out, diving for a beautiful interception that game and I think it was Stan announcing saying "too bad he didn't do that before tonight" or something. All I could think was "come one man, he's doin it now!"

Extremely happy with the Wilson move. Wow, I'm stoked!! Really didn't think anything was gonna happen.
