Ravens Acquire Josh Wilson In Trade With Seahawks

212 posts in this topic

Apparently, even people covering the Seahawks don't like the deal: http://seattle.sbnation.com/2010/8/31/1661699/seattle-seahawks-bad-trade-josh-wilson-baltimore-ravens

And for those who don't know, Wilson went to Maryland.

What do you guy's think that the Jets would want for a Dwight Lowery type of player?

A few hours ago during my lunch break, my manager who is a Redskins fan was going on about how the Ravens secondary is suspect. I was telling him that we were more then likely pick up a CB before the season starts. And I come home to see this. Sounds like a good deal, his stats look pretty good, can't wait to see him on the field.

Very pleased with this move... Wilson is a playmaker he is fast and he plays like a Raven Im not sure where he fits in the depth chart but I am salivating over the big play potential of Washington Webb Wilson and Williams...Wow. Also I'm pretty sure Josh is thrilled!

Just caught wind of this. I have to say, I'm actually pretty stoked for this trade. First off, we didn't have to give up any of our quality depth that we definitely can (and will) use on our team. Secondly, we didn't really give up very much at all. A fifth or fourth round draft pick isn't that big a hit to our team, especially with the way Ozzie uses his genius when it comes to acquiring more picks, if he feels it's needed. Lastly, we got a quality player. Wilson is a very capable, starter-quality cornerback. So instead of trading for a "nobody" for pure depth, we land a quality starter for next to nothing.

As I said, I'm extremely happy with this trade. Giving up a low, conditional pick for a young, starting cornerback is as close to magic as it gets. Hopefully, we keep Wilson around for a while. Wilson and Webb (and Foxy, if you want to stretch it a bit) would be a good set of young cornerbacks for the team in the years to come. Maybe not "superstar" cornerback tandems, but a solid corp that shouldn't be the weakness that the position has been as of late.

...Did I mention I'm very, very happy with this trade?

I'm curious as to why the Seahawks would even make this trade? If he's as good as the Ravens blog post was trying to make him sound... the Seahawks don't get anything to help them this year. And with the receivers on AZ and SF, I think I'd want a few good corners on my team.

But hey, looks like Ravens take advantage of another team with a crass group of decision-makers.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... ANYTHING to keep Chris Carr off the field!

I knew we would trade for someone. No way we would of left the secondary how it was. This guy is good with potential to be better.

This irrational hate you have for him is becoming pathetic. Have you seen the guy play recently? He's become a pretty good player for this team.

Hold on I have to post again.. Did the Seahawks really just trade a young starting capable corner for a 5th rounder?
It's a conditional fifth-round pick, meaning if Wilson plays a certain number of snaps/games it bumped up to a higher pick.

Oh okay thanks for correcting me. Even still, this guy is pretty good and will only improve being on our defense.

Now we have some options at nickel also. I admit that I was never really high on Josh Wilson in his days with the Seahawks, but he does bring a lot to the table in terms of secondary and ST.

Irrational? There's plenty of ration to it, if you watched last season. And by "lately" I assume you're talking about PRESEASON? Yeah, I don't base my judgements off of preseason games. If I did that, I'd make the assumption Ray Rice isn't going to touch the ball. Or I'd have to assume the Ravens are hardly ever going to run the ball period.

I'm watching the video posted a page back and Wilson has really impressive balance and strength for someone his size. He has a number of returns where he bounced of multiple tacklers and even took on and ran a guy over.

He's been burnt quite a bit over the years playing in Seattle but he's in a much better situation here and that alone should make him a better player.

Once again, feel free to go crazy over what happens in a preseason game. It means pretty much nothing.

I don't have energy to hate someone, especially someone I don't know. But I sure don't want someone as untalented as him playing on a team I watch every week.

I seem to recall Carr playing pretty well in the playoffs last year.

Ration? Whose talking about food? :D

By lately, I meant going back to last season when was thrust into the starting line-up. He was solid the final 2 weeks of the season and played very well in my opinion in the play-offs. And judging pre-season game plans and the performance of players are two different things. Carr has played well in the two pre-season he's appeared in. That can't be refuted.

You might want to familiarize yourself with the definition of "ration" before using it..

And Carr played very well at the end of the '09 season and into the playoffs. The Ravens finally had him played outside, which he seemed more comfortable with, and he played well.

And coaches use the preseason to pass judgement on players, why can't you? We're talking about performance, not play selection.

We definitely needed another cb with all the question marks were had. Glad to see the trigger was pulled. I feel much better now that we have healthy experience.

From the highlights he looks like Ed Reed on pick returns. He runs at the defenders' back to buy yards. It's not an instinct alot of defenders have when they get the ball in their hands.

Carr has been solid for us since about week 14 and into the playoffs, dont know what your talking about. Judging by how everyone and their mothers hates this trade for Seattle its tough to not like this trade lol.
