The one thing I am a bit disappointed over though is how nobody on the team seemed to step up to "protect" Jake. I know that sometimes we get on players for being stupid but sometimes you have to step up and show the opposing team that you can't do crap like that.

That's a good point. The O-line needs to step in there.

It wasn't a tackle or an accident. It was a dirty play by someone who was probably frustrated and his adrenaline got the best of him. I actually saw it live and my friend and me were in disbelief. You don't just throw someone down like that. Even though it's football, that's not a simple tackle. That's trying to cause harm to a defenseless QB. He thought he still had the football in his hand? Lol, ok then strip it, don't toss him down by his neck. If this happened to the one's who are saying there's nothing wrong with it, you'd be damn pissed. Suh is just a rookie, and he needs to calm the <bleep> down.

That made me wonder what would have happened if this had been Tom or Peyton. Surely, everyone would be calling for his head.

Nah, the flag would have been down for "roughing the passer" long before Suh made any contact with Brady. :P

I never really said it was fine.. just tried to play devil's advocate.. yes I'd be pissed if it was joe.. but our OLine wouldn't let him get that close :)

It's true that Detroit needs more players on defense with energy and passion as it's something they're lacking. However, Suh went overboard here. I won't exactly call it a "dirty" play, although it skirted the line. The facemask could have just been accidental, however the red flag (seeing as the facemasking was the yellow flag) is the manner in which Suh brought Delhomme down. It was a prime example of unnecessary roughness. Suh did not need to grab Jake around the head, pull back, and then launch him into the turf. I can buy and understand Suh's comment about not being able to tell that the ball was out of Delhomme's hand, but that does not justify or warrant what followed.

Suh knows better, and I don't think this will end up as an ongoing issue with him. Detroit needs that passion, but you need to keep it in check, Ndamukong.

To me , the twisting of his neck and throwing him to the ground makes this play as dirty as Haynesworth stepping on the player when he was on the ground.

THROWING PEOPLE DOWN!!! WHAT HAS FOOTBALL BECOME?!?!

Lol, guys, it's not teacups with the Queen. Mangini wasn't even angry about it.

Dude, please dont insult me.
Picking people up by their heads is not a part of football you and every one here knows that.

What? @ least this play has somewhat of an explanation...

This, was a mixture of adrenaline, and confusion... I mean the dude's a rookie... why would he have a problem w/ Delhomme to try and purposely cause him bodily harm

Haynesworth.. kicks a guy in the face with (said guys) helmet.. stepping on the guy

seriously... comparing Ndamukong Suh to Haynesworth's dirtiness level, I think thats a bit overboard

If it happened to Joe, I would be very pissed ... but the Lions and Suh need to send a message to the league that we arent the 0-16 Lions 2 years ago, and when you play us, you better be prepared to play dirty or you wont be happy.

idk about easily.... it's possible, but I'm pretty sure it takes alot of pressure to break someone's neck
Actually, it only take 7lbs per square inch of "pressure" to break a human neck.

Force wise, it takes 168 Newtons, which is equivalent to 37.767902330424 lbs.

I'm sorry, but saying it's not easy to break someone's neck is hilarious to a health and exercise science major. My professors got a good laugh out of this one :P.

Please.

Defensive players are taught from pop warner to make the play, PERIOD. I guarantee you no D-lineman after the snap is thinking to themselves 'don't draw a penalty, don't draw a penalty'.

It was nasty, uncalled for, and I think he should be disciplined...

I also think he'll learn from it and be one of the most dominant D-lineman in the NFL this year.

Been announced SUH will be fined 7,500 for his "hit" on Delhomme
Good. Suh is too promising of a player to be that careless.

I think he got off easy personally....

I agree, I don't see how was this was not a $25,000 penalty.

He is a talented player and I just hope he doesn't try this bush league crap again.

I think Suh learned that take-down move from the other Kong.

i could see Suh doing to a quarterback what Lawrence Taylor did to Joe Theisman
I thought the same thing when I seen him jump on his back and watched Delhommes' legs buckle!

For me, that is inexcusable. Suh could easily have taken him down right after the facemask. That kind of violence just doesn't belong in this league. I would feel the same way if it was Ray Lewis on Tom Brady.
