Hard Knocks: Baltimore Ravens

8 posts in this topic

this segment was on NFL Network tonight about training camp 2001. though it was 7 years ago, it really gives the regular on-looker a real idea of what it takes to be in the NFL. i think sometimes as fans we tend to over-look all the hurdles and the drive it takes to overcome them. we often use the phrase " blood, sweat, and tears " but that just scratches the surface. these warriors dedicate their lives towards smarts, conditioning, and pushing their bodies beyond average capabilities. grueling 2 adays, hitting the weight room, team meetings, film room, and when it's all said and done, they go back to their dorm and study some more because their spot isn't guarunteed. i can type about this all i want but unless we witness or take part in this we could never completely understand the ramifications of life in the NFL. yes, there's jokes and pranks pulled amongst the players but that's basically to relieve the pressure of the rest of the day. ( this is also what REALLY develops chemistry! )

i would highly recommend that any true football diehard view one of these segments. you may see things through a whole new set of eyes!

I saw it last night and it brought back some great memories of that great 2000 season and all the Super Bowl players on that team. What a great ride that was that year.

It also showed Elvis Grbac who cost us dearly with the salary cap purge that happened the following year. That is a lesson the Ravens should never forget. So called top flight, 1st round type QB's are a BIG gamble, and perhaps not worth the risk to the franchise they pose if they go bust!!! Guys like Troy Smith are a much safer bet, top quality guys who slip to the later rounds. But...I digress...

Yeah, the price these guys have to pay, and the total commitment it takes to be the best was evident in that video. Let's hope Harbaugh ushers in a fresh new era of the same mentality --- unflinching commitment to be the best!!!
