Things You Didn't Hear In The Preseason Game?#55

12 posts in this topic

I thought it was a good first half game congrats to all just a few things that came to my attention was # 55 seemed like they moved him around a lot he got pressure but no sacks, i guess i was hoping to hear at least 1 sack per preseason from him. I know it's only preseason just always want more i guess , my bad.

I was so impressed with Suggs, he was rushing Manning who had just released the ball, he pulled up without late hitting him and pursued the ball carrier. He showed great restraint in past years it would have been a 15 yarder.

suggs was in the backfield on almost every play he was in. he did a great job but their was alot of holding. i wish that cody could have played because he would have busted up their line. ngata got held alot durning that game. i remember one play even the announcers were wondering why the ref didnt call it.

the art of pass rushing isn't a fail or not. Pressure can cause QB's to screw up, you dont have to get there all the time, just get close. trust me if you saw 250 pounds of pissed off Raven flying at you, Id like to see you look off safeties/decipher coverages, and then provide an accurate pass.

A sack/game sounds great but I don't think you can ask for too much more than what Suggs has shown this pre-season. Despite being 20lbs. lighter, he's as dominant as ever against the run and is consistently beating his man rushing the QB.

Barring injury, he's going to have a monster season.

Suggs has looked explosive off the edge all preseason from what Ive seen, Ngata has been held on a couple occasions but it still irks me to see Suggs beat the T around the edge and then watch Manning/McNabb just step up in the pocket. Now last year it would have been step up in the pocket and make the completion, so far in the preseason its step up in the pocket with hands in the QBs face and he usually cant complete the pass. I dont know how much longer our OLBs and rush DEs in our sub packages can keep getting pressure without some pocket push from the interior Dline.

I couldn't agree more. Players like Ngata, Redding, Pryce, Kruger and Cody really need to step up and start generating an inside push or Mattison is going to have to continue taking guys out of coverage and sending them on blitzes.

It's cool i understand the difference between the two I def thought he had pressure i was just wanting a sack, i guess i was getting greedy.

As much as we'd like to see a guy like Suggs put up great numbers, you can't always rely on the stat book to determine how well a player performed. Even though Suggs didn't have an actual sack, I thought he had a great game against the Giants.

i know its a little off topic but if cody can stay healthy i see him starting by mid season.

an i think the pressure we put on the qb was pretty good. if you watch they had to hold alot to keep our rush off manning.

I remember that exact play. Impressive awareness on his behalf.
