A lot of people do. They probably pale in comparison with the Wayne, Gucci, Drake etc. fans but we're around, enjoying sophisticated hip hop.

Gucci Mane...don't even get me started...I don't understand anything he says. It's probably "I'm so fly, fresh, clean, and rich" yeahhhh I think that statement defines the subject matter of most hip hop these days.

Don't forget alcohol, drugs, money and loose women. They've all become staples in mainstream hip hop.

How did I forget?! Forgive me haha

Heh, I'm 16 ( hence all of my music posts!) I love My Chemical Romance; I remember their 1st single with the cool funeral video that accompanied it. Their best song was "We'll Carry On." Nice to meet a Filipino BTW. I live in the Jersey City area: we have the world's largest Filipino immigrant community!
My favorite song mam. That funeral thing? It's called Helena, and it's the best. Oh yeah, I think you mean Welcome to the Black Parade. Understandable mistake since they only mention that once, yet they sing out "We'll Carry On" about fifteen times. Still, gotta love that somebody actually listens to the same music I do.

Filipinos are rocking it here at Baltimore County too since the city has been hiring overseas teachers. We got a pretty big community, but nothing compared to the likes of California and others.

Music in general is like that nowadays, not just rap. Hearken back to Katy Perry's "California Girls" or Britney Spears' menage-a-trois ballad. There's an MC named Brother Ali: you should definitely check him out. He's a very intellectual rapper. Lily Allen's not a rapper, but I would reccomend her music too: it's so socially satirical.

In class the other day, some girl said her favorite band was Parramore and her second favorite was Panic! at the Disco and I had to keep myself from cracking up.

Just awful
Actually, Panic At The Disco is pretty good, their lyrics are quite poignant and their videos creative: I'm mad that they broke up. :bricks: I can't say the same about Paramore.

Yes, Panic at the Disco is very goo.

Goo means horrible, right?

Anything else (except Nickelback or ICP)

Magnets, how do they work?

Has anyone listened to Arcade Fire's "The Suburbs?" I've heard nothing but accolades about it.

Not as good as their previous album, but not bad. If you like indie, The New Pornographers' latest album "Together" is pretty good

I like the concept of their new album, that being the crushing monotony of the American suburban town. Reminds me of "Edward Scissorhands." Not to get off-topic.. :34853_blobfire:

Yelawolf, not usually a fan of white rappers but he's breathing new life into hip hop. Eminem signed him.
Of course: who's going to sign a white rapper but another white rapper! :lolpoof: Come to think of it though, Yelawolf sounds familar. What songs has he made?

Metallica, Pillar, Ministry, Disturbed, Dropkick Murphys, Motorhead, Anthrax, Anthrax and Public Enemy, Pantera...it's my workout playlist.

Although I should have been working out to 'Ice Ice Baby' today. My strained shoulder is NOT comfy right now.

Earlier tonight, someone asked me online a question of what song the FBI spent over two years investigating, and I responded in an e-mail that the song was "Louie Louie". Afterwards, I hopped over to YouTube to hear the original version - by Richard Berry and the Pharoahs. Very good song.

I can still hear it in my mind.

I've listened to a lot of Wale recently.
Me too. But I can't wait until Kid Cudi and Lupe's new albums drop.

I'll probably end up hearing singles from Cudi's album anyway but I'm nowhere near as pumped about it as I am for Lupe's Lasers.

They were staples in old school hip hop as well, not to mention ever since lyrics have been put to music.
That type of content has been around forever.

That could possibly be the most absurd song ever.
I can't believe they have actually made money doing what they are doing.
Americans have actually given them money...
I'd like to make a documentary of their fans, at least the ones that take them seriously. I admit, it's hilarious, but to think they actually make a lot of money blows my mind.

We never said it hasn't been around forever...we just said we didn't like it.
