Lil Wayne is garbage plain and simple...they should keep him locked up forever just so the world doesnt have to hear those awful sounds that he calls music. Worst rapper alive.
Haha, those are some harsh words! You're probably hearing all of his mainstream stuff. Listen to his mixtapes. You'll be amazed. He's actually very smart, and can use metaphores like it's his native tongue. I think some people would be surprised if they just listened to his deeper music, instead of judging him by the way he looks and what he uses. He also writes nothing down.

Definitely. I have Cudi's "Man on the Moon" album and I've probably played "Cudi Zone" twice as much as any other song on it. It's the complete song (In terms of its genre). Kid Cudi working with Kanye West on his (KC) next album has me pretty excited. I just hope he doesn't experiment with rock like Wayne did. Stick to what sells your music.
Ditto. It's actually my favorite song, aside from "Pursuit of Happiness". You can actually see the imagery in "Cudi Zone". I don't use this word for a song, but it's the only one I can really think of: beautiful.

As for his next CD, I HOPE he doesn't use a lot of rock. Don't get me wrong, I love "Erase Me", but it's not his deal. The level that he gets on is so similar to his listeners. What he's been through in his life can translate to someone listening 1,000 miles away, which is why I love him. His method of rapping is very similar to that of Eminem, and I'm not really a huge fan o**** him either.

Cudi's new song "Erase Me", which features Kayne, sounds sorta like a alternate rock song, but it sounds good and I like it.
Two of some of my favorite rappers! In order = Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, The Cataracs.

I do not like Drake that much.

I like me some Lupe, too.
How can you not? The man has the lyricism and wordplay of an underground rapper with the flair of a mainstream artist.

He writes nothing down because he has/had a ghost writer.

What are you talking about? He's never had someone else write his music for him. If you're talking about Gillie Da Kidd, it's all just rumors and speculation.

I stretched the truth a little. No, Gillie didn't write lyrics for Wayne but he certainly influenced his style which led to Wayne "borrowing" styles(and entire verses) from other artists over the years. Is he that insecure as an artist?

I'll admit Wayne is a decent rapper but whether it's his old or new stuff, he's never been as far ahead of the game as he and his fans like to claim. It's all about preference and people are entitled to their opinions but I can't respect the opinions of many of his fans when they've barely heard 25 rappers.

That's a prefect explanation of Lupe. His metaphors and wordplay stretch over entire albums. Gotta love the effort.

I think it's my flat out favorite and I can see what you're getting at by describing it as beautiful. Second would have to Soundtrack to My Life. They both just hit me pretty deep.

Yeah, I'd be pretty disappointed if he leaned towards rock. I think I'd like it just because it was Kid Cudi, but it wouldn't be the same.

It would be hard for me to name my favorite artists in Rap/Hip-Hop, but it probably looks something like this:

Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Eminem, Drake, Lupe Fiasco, Lil' Wayne, Notorious B.I.G., and Aesop Rock (had to throw some underground in there). I wouldn't have put some one like Drake in there except for the fact that I thought about the music as a whole as opposed to just the rap itself. I appreciate guys like Aesop, Lupe, Eminem, and Kanye for their rapping abilities, but I have guys like Cudi, Drake, Wayne, etc. listed because of what they bring all together (rapping, refreshing style, great sampling/synth work, etc.).

Lil Wayne is awful. His voice is annoying and his beats always sound the same. And his lyrics kinda blow.

Drake sounds a lot like Lil Wayne, which is already bad to start off with, and his lyrics consist of 1000 one-liners that make no sense when you put them together

I do love me some Lupe

The entire Carter 1 was ghost written.

To the people who don't like him, why are you reading and posting and giving out negatives in this thread? Do your thang, J-Mizzy.

If CuDi's got another track like "Hyyerr" on there, I'm sold! That track instantly moved into my top ten personal favorites of all-time, just because the production is so smooth and the lyrics match the vibe perfectly. I play that and Kanye's "Flashing Lights" whenever I'm out for a chill night on the town or just trying to relax.

Rakim is without a doubt the greatest MC to ever touch the mic.

I don't consider the greatest MC but it's tough to argue against him.

I think he's going to have a mix of things. "Erase Me" is sort of an alternative rock song. Personally, I'd rather Cudi just be Cudi and not try and pull a Lil' Wayne. I don't think he'll disappoint. Kayne is helping him produce the album from what I've read...should be incredible. "Hyyerr" is a great song along with every other track on the album.

I love "Flashing Lights"...definitely one of my favorite Kayne tracks. I actually got it arranged for our marching band as a pep chart.

He's earned it. 1,005,545 sales the first week earned it. But you probably didn't know he sold that many copies in only seven days. It's ok to be wrong sometimes.

I appreciate good rap.

Lupe, Cudi, Nas, 90's rap.

You know, just people that have meaning to their songs and don't just brag about how many women girls or cash they get. I can't and don't understand why people like listening to people inflate their egos. Weird american sub-culture.

Sales doesn't necessarily equate to ability. If that was the case, then 50 Cent would be one of the greatest rappers alive -- but his lyricism says otherwise. Sales would also indicate that Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy are good rappers, but their music argues against that case.

I'll put it like this: there's a difference between being a good artist and a good MC; Lil Wayne is a good artist because he obviously entertains people in what he brings to the table, but he's not necessarily a good MC because his lyricism is barely above-average compared to other rappers out there. So for him to call himself the best rapper alive, that's a misnomer given that there's plenty of other rappers who would outshine him if comparing lyrics-to-lyrics.
