Just means time for another man to step up. And after watching the team perform tonight, it looks like they won't have a problem finding a replacement. Heal soon though, Stallworth!

I mean what was up with the Ravens not playing him with the 1st string over Clayton anyways? seems as though he was our 4th receiver and I had a hunch something bad would happen to him when I saw him returning punts

Your not a coach you dont have to have sugar coated answers, the whole "another man has to step up" means "damn we just lost a good player, this really sucks"

I know they lost a good player, however, I am trying to look at the glass half full instead of the half empty part.

We still have Boldin and Mason. Mark Clayton will have to step up. I feel better knowing Heap is stepping up and looking more like is former self after tonight's great TD catch. Pitta and Dickson have experience being split wide as well. Demetrius Williams might get to stay in Baltimore for a few more weeks and prove he should have been our deep threat all along. David Reed need a fire lit under him because he has all the potential in the world but he looks a little shell shocked. He looked good against the Skins, but still inconsistent and unreliable. I bet someone will start a trade for Giant WR Victor Cruz post now, damnit!

We'll miss Donte but we'll also get by until he returns!!

Lets go to work!!

As long as Boldin doesn't get hurt the Ravens will be fine.

Wait, was that a positive comment?

I think Clayton has surpassed him by now. Dude's terrific in the slot.

Relax guys, he was gonna be the fourth guy/special teamer anyway. We didn't just lose Flacco here.
[/quote]
Thank you....he was/is great to have, but Claytyon is 3rd and we're okay. He and Kindle will be a great addition come mid-season!!!

Yeah he wasn't going to beat Clayton for the 3rd slot.

Stallworth hasnt been standing out, so I didnt expect him to make a big contribution early in the season.

I'm not convinced that Clayton would have won the 3rd spot over Stallworth.
Stallwort, being a deep threat, is vital to a productive offense and Clayton just can't do that as well as Stallworth can.
Teams can again game plan around us not having that deep threat and it hurts us.
Not to mention, why is everyone so high on Clayton all of a sudden when most people were bashing him and calling for his head?

Clayton had trouble getting deep against starting caliber Corners. Now he'll be going up against nickels, and he usually torches those guys. While I don't think that Clayton is a #2 receiver, he is one hell of a #3 to have.

Also, we have 3 TE's who can make plays so I have a feeling that we will be fine.

I think we'll be fine, or rather, ok as well. But Stallworth being a deep threat would make us that much better, and that much harder to game plan against.
The league knows Clayton. You could say the league knows Stallworth as well, but they don't know him under the Ravens and being used by Cam. I think it's more of a lose than saying we'll be fine.

You could say the same thing about Clayton. The league "knows" Clayton, but not as a 3rd wide receiver going up against nickel corners, especially with two 1st-string caliber wide receivers for the secondary to worry about. I like Stallworth too, but I've always believed Clayton would be an excellent 3rd-string option. Stallworth was, it seems, a nice bargain for depth, because he is also 3rd-string capable.

For real? I LOVE me some Stalls, but it doesn't change much. Q, Mase, Clayton (anyone who thought he was 4 wasn't paying attention AT ALL!), Heap, Rice, McGahee, Dickson, Pitta etc...we're fine!!!!

We were at the game tonight and had no idea this happened until we came home. I nearly fell over shocked. He will be missed, but thankfully it will not be for the entire season. In the meantime I believe in the talent we have on the team to carry us.

Stallworth was consistently playing with the 2s. Clayton was #3 in with the 1s. This could play to our favor to get a better look at the bottom of the depth chart. But with the increase in TE play is pretty small in the big picture.

Watching the game live there was no indication that Stallworth was even injured. I recorded it on DVR and have gone back and watched it 3 times. I couldnt find where he injured the foot. After his last kick return he was still walking around. It wasnt until just before half time that I noticed a little limp in his step. I dont think anyone knew what had happend until later in the game. Like Harbaugh said it isnt a season ending injury and he should be back by the bye week. The fact that Cam had Stallworth and Clayton at his disposal for the 3rd and 4th spots is what made our recieving corp. so dangerous. It is a serious hit but with all the other weapons at Flaccos disposal, we should be fine.

Yeah I was going to say, they didn't mention anything about Stallworth being injured on tv. They showed Lewis icing his knee during the first half, what was up with that?

The announcers said that they spoke with Ray about that and there was absolutely nothing wrong. It was just a 15 year vet icing some old knees. Ray was up and moving around the sideline after that the rest of the night. He didnt show any signs of injury. I wouldnt worry about that at all.

Yeah he looked fine when they showed him later in the game walking around talking to some of the other players. I figured it wasn't anything, but the announcers didn't really say anything and they kept showing him icing the knee.

Either that or a subliminal reminder of Boldin's penchant for injury. I'm concerned about no real deep threat. I was annoyed watching Donte return punts because he wasn't good at it, frankly. I have no feel for what we're going to do on punts, nor how we'll address the deep ball. Williams? Reed? *gulp* Harper?

OK, enough being a downer, we played ferociously on D and the secondary acquitted itself well. Joe was pretty fantastic working through his progressions.
