Return Yard Players

12 posts in this topic

I'm in a league where return and punt yards are 1 point for every 10 yards. Now relying on a great punt return/kick returner is inconsistent. But if I can get a guy that gets either receiving or rushing yards plus kick returns and punt returns then that will be something to rely on. Heres a list I have. Any others would be appreciated.

1. CJ Spiller
2. Darron Sproles
3. Jacoby Jones
4. Percy Harvin
5. Steve Slaton

Doesn't Wes Welker return punts?

He might have last year, but I doubt it now after his surgery

like Wacko said, Cribbs definitely needs to be on that list, but a few other guys would be Dexter McCluster/Javier Arenas, Eric Weems, Brandon Tate, and so on... the biggest thing with picking special teams guys for fantasy is finding the ones that return both kicks and punts.. They get more touches, and thus, more yards. Most teams use two different players (like us)... I would honestly just look through depth charts and see which teams have the same player starting returning both kicks and punts

Hester doesn't return kick-offs anymore and he's said the coaches don't want him actually returning punts, even if they put him back there.

Two guys haven't been mentioned include:

Pacman Jones
LaRon Stephens-Howling

Danny Amendola

He led the NFL in kick return yards w/ 1618 last year. And with Avery going down, he'll get plenty of catches as well. He topped 5 catches in three games during the final stretch.

What else do you want in a return guy? Other teams will be scoring a lot, meaning he'll get a chance at a lot of kick returns and his offense will be down so they will be forced to throw.

Good call. He ran a kick back impressively against the Vikings in Week 1 of the pre-season: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d819c17a1/Amendola-93-yard-TD-return

With Avery out for the year, I think Amendola could see a lot more time on offense, so they might ween him off of his return duties, but I guess you never know.

Another guy to keep an eye on is AOA in Dallas.. I've had a man crush on him for the past two years, but more importantly he's atop the depth chart for both kick and punt return duties.. the kind of player you want if you're just looking for return yardage

I think a few of us have man crushes on AOA here. Too bad he's a Cowboy.
