My Draft Day Result

12 team PPR league with money involved

I picked 6th and got this team.

QB: Joe Flacco
RB1: Frank Gore
RB2: Pierre Thomas
WR1: Greg Jennings
WR2: Santana Moss
TE: Antonio Gates
Flex: Justin Forsett
K: Sebastian Janikowski
Def: Cincinnati
Bench:
QB: Chad Henne
WR: Jacoby Jones, Mike Wallace
RB: Carnell Williams, Darren McFadden
TE: Zach Miller

I based my draft on the FPA (Fantasy point Against) rating on NFL.com, so a lot of these players do have some favorable match-ups. Also, I chose sleeper potentials, breakout potentials, and favorable playoff schedules over big names and known starters.

Rounds/Players/Reasons

1 / Gore / He's due a monster season with an favorable schedule and is an automatic 6th overall pick in every sources.

2 / P. Thomas / I wanted to get a #1 receiver, but I put my trust on the potential that Thomas is going to carry the heavy load for the Saints. Also, the Saints don't have a lot of RB Depth after Thomas and Bush. Yes, no more Mike Bell!

3 / Jennings / The Wide Receiver purging happened as expected and this was the receiver that was left when my turn came. I like Jennings because he's the #1 target for Aaron Rodgers and I hope he gets more Red Zone Targets.

4 / Gates / It was a tough decision, but there were no players worth taking around the time I picked. I truly believe Gates is going to break open with Vincent Jackson out of the picture. I hope he gets a lot of looks from Rivers and produce WR-like numbers.

5 / Forsett / Yeah, I kind of reached here because this guy is actually is questionable on being RB #1 for the Seahawks. However, if he does get the #1 job, he has one of the highest FPA rating according to NFL.com. The guy is a gem when playoff weeks comes along.

6 / S. Moss / I needed to fill my WR2, and thought Moss might be actually useful. He's got a high FPA, and according to preseason, he's connecting with McNabb on the long balls pretty well.

7 / Wallace / I'm kind of excited on what this guy can do with Holmes out of the way. The guy is a speedster and can run with Big Ben's big arm. I hope the 7th round is a good investment pick on this breakout potential.

8 / Flacco / I kind of waited on Flacco to drop, since he's not so highly rated on Yahoo. I was the last one to pick up a starting QB in a 12 team league. It was a gamble, but I came out with Flacco. I hope Flacco can prove to be a steal in the league.

9 / C. Williams / This guy was tricky and with many of the RBs gone, I say why not. Williams did average on one of the worst teams in the NFL. According to sources, this guy is right now the unquestioned #1 RB in TB, and may see a quite a lot of carries. I hope he doesn't get the injury bug and bring back his glorious rookie days.

10 / J. Jones / I really love this guys' potential and was surprised he went under the radar this far down. You guys might think he's still a reach, but this guy fits so perfectly opposite of Andre Johnson. He is a deep threat, a possible kick returner for PPR, and more physically talented than Kevin Walter.

11 / Miller / I know I already have a TE, but with Zach Miller still available, I had to take him and hope he proves out to be a great trade bait in my league where TEs have to produce. Miller looks like a favorite target for Campbell, I really hope he gets a lot of looks.

12 / McFadden / This guy has disappointed me twice already. However, with Fargas gone, a new QB, and Oakland reimaging itself, I must say third try the charm. McFadden definitely has a potential to break out. This late round pick shouldn't hurt me as much as in previous drafts. McFadden please don't pull a Russell.

13/ Henne / With many of the QBs gone, I thought Henne could be a good back-up. I have to say a strong running game is a QB's best friend. Now with Brandon Marshall and no Jets in the playoff weeks, I thought his potential will be great as a back-up QB or possible star to championship.

14 / Cincinnati / This defense is definitely underrated. They got dangerous D-line with Odom (He was the sacking leader at one point last year) back, solid secondary with one of the best cornerback duos, and a good defensive coach. I hope I made a steal with this Def. Sorry Raven Fans, I don't hate on any teams in Fantasy.

15 / Janikowski / I know he can give me a few extra points in field goals because of his big leg. Now, with a improved offense, he can get the job done.

My overall view is that this team doesn't seem to have too many fancy names and solid players. However, I put a lot of emphasis on potentials and schedule match-ups, instead of picking already known players. This strategy will either be a boom-or-bust for my team and I hope my insights were good enough to start the season off with a bang.

Love everyone but Darren McFadden. Michael Bush is going to be the stud there and McFadden is a bust imo.

Flacco has a tough schedule just so you know. Still like him a lot. But when you play the Bengals and Steelers 4 times (and even the browns have a decent secondary), it will be tough.

Report about McFadden looking good. Maybe he could breakout this year. But I don't trust him.

One practice all off-season isn't going to wow me. On top of that it's a hammy he had issues with. The #1 killer for a running back that thrives on speed. McFadden will still be brought down by the first hit.

Where's my ten foot pole?

Especially with Michael Bush being more consistent. Bush will get more carries. I doubt McFadden will get enough touches to be an effective ff starter

McFadden's legs go dead on contact. Not exactly easy to teach him otherwise.

Bush may be serviceable but I don't buy all the hype about the Raiders. How does Campbell go from being the problem in Washington to being the savior in Oakland before taking a snap?

Yeah I tried to wait on Bush to fall down, but some team on autopick got him in round 4.

McFadden is expendable because I didn't invest too much on him.

The guy I'm really worried about is Forsett because Seattle may go with a 3 back committee with him, Washington, and Jones. Seattle is not that great of a running team, but they do have a great schedule for RBs.

I kind of regret picking Forsett in the 5th round because I panicked after seeing other viable RBs picked ahead of me like Bush, Foster, Forte, and Moreno.

This is why I hate drafting before the 3rd preseason because I don't have enough information on what the starting roster might look like on some teams.
