no one is talking about this guy and hes showed me alot in the 2 preseason games he played.against carolina he played againt height facing jarret and lafell.this week he faced speed and he played against santan moss who he showed he can run with they try to get him on a deep route which he picked off.so i think that they really should try to start cary williams the next preseason game and see what he can do against another receiver

He showed some promise. If he could be a player on say Chris Carr's level that would help our secondary a lot this year. If he is a solid or average player that will be good. But in all fairness he is running against the second and third team so it is tough to really gauge how good he really is. Hopefully this will continue and he gets some time with the first team this preseason so we can see what he's got.

Cary has certainly been impressive. He's got above-average size, is fast and isn't afraid of contact. I just wish the team could have his services the first two weeks of the season.

Williams has shown that he is capable of starting for the Ravens, but his 2 game suspension makes me think that he will not start the last 2 preseason games. The team may want to prepare with the actual ones that start against the Jets on openning night.

Santana Moss isn't a 2nd stringer. As far as I remember, Cary was out there with the 1st team.

I guess so. I was wrong. Sorry I didn't get to watch the game. I was just assuming. I'm not gonna fight you about this. Means he is better than I originally thought he was

It's cool. You were partially right. I believe Fabian Washington and Travis Fisher began the first series and Cary replaced Fabian afterwards. Speaking of which, Fisher looked completely lost on several plays. Cary played with both the twos and the ones. Got you back for whoever negged you.

its no biggie but thanks haha. The baltimoresun burned Fisher. They said "Their defense allowed six passes of 15 or more yards in the first half as cornerback Travis Fisher (who was appropriately wearing Frank Walker's No. 41) was beaten deep downfield". Our secondary cannot be giving up that many yards. Because when we play Manning and Brees they will make us pay for those mistakes. I really hope the Ravens have something under their sleeve. Maybe its Cary Williams

I think it is. I really can't envision a plausible trade package for a CB right now and Williams has looked like the team's best CB in the pre-season games so far.

Webb, by the looks of things, is going to play in Game 1 of the regular season, Washington is already back, and Miller looks pretty good as well. Travis Fisher is getting burned repeatedly and should not be a first teamer...

After 2 games our DB corps (barring trade) will probably be: Washington, Webb, Williams, Carr, Miller, and I have been pleasantly surprised with Dutch as well. So I think we will take 6 corners on our 53 man roster:

Washington
Williams
Webb
Carr
Miller
Dutch/Fisher

Looking at that, it isn't all that bad if Williams can play at a high level. He has excellent size and speed and can be used to cover the big receivers while Washington, Webb, and Miller all have great speed. It would benefit the Ravens to make a trade for a corner but if they don't their secondary should be alright. Williams 2 game suspension really hurts. I think he could be primed for a big year.

A starting trio of Washington, Williams, and Webb could be exciting and has decent size... 5'11, 6'2, 5'10

I like it.

Its Williams and a resurgent Webb, fresh off the PUP list that will make the difference. Webb is going to play in Game 1...book it.

fisher really looked out of place an really hasnt shown that hes starting material.

cary looked impressive again an that should help to get him playing time once the suspension is done. i think our defense will be fine as long as we can make it thru the season healthy.

Don't be fooled by the amount of yards the Ravens gave up in the passing game Saturday Night.

The Ravens didn't gameplan for the Redskins defensively, and they had answer for Moss on crossing patterning matched up with LBs. I'm sure in a regular season game the Ravens would have found a way to match up a DB on Moss, even if it was Nakamura.

Yes Fisher and Landry giving up the big play down field on 3rd and long was disappointing, as well as Gooden(haven't been impressive at all this year)allowing Cooley to break free on the pervious 3rd and long.

Other then that, most of the success McNabb had, came against blitz pressure with Moss matched up on a LB.

I presonally think the "secondary" played well. If our LBs are gonna be forced to defend WRs then they have to get more physical at the point of attack, to throw the timing of the play off

The FO deserves credit for plucking this guy from Tennessee. He wasn't a draft pick but right now, I'd say he's a fine long-term prospect.

They're sitting in their FO right now thinking:

"<Deleted>. Who told us to let this guy go?"

Yep. The Titans have options at CB beside Finnegan but I'm sure some people wish they still had Cary.

No problem. I swear, that #41 has bad luck written all over it. We should just retire it.

i wish the commish would reconsider his stance on that 2 game suspension. i mean if big ben can get a reduction why cant cary? when benson and VY didnt even get a suspension.

I love the guy he can really play the game. He is a must keep just wish we could have him for the opener. His vision is amazing after the pick with speed and he is fearless.

I've been talking about the promise of Cary Williams and K.J Gerard for what seems like the last 2 1/2 months now. Gerard has yet to see time in the preseason, but i think when the guy get 100% healthy and hits the field he'll turn some heads.

As for Williams, he has played extermely well for the Ravens. It's one thing to take advantage of a guy like Clausen, but to be able to bait a veteran guy like D Mac, is a great sign for Williams.

Now this is not me saying hey i told you so, i told you this guy would be good, because he still has a lot to prove. However all i was saying a couple months back when we signed guys like Fisher and Harris was give these young guy a chance to show and prove.

A lot of people just had him as a definite practice squad guy coming into the season. However now he looks like one of our best options at CB

It'll be interesting to see how the secondary lineup lookd next week when we play the starters for about 2 and a half quarters.

Cary's put together probably the best two preseason games of anybody. QB's have been throwing right at him recklessly, and he's made them pay.

What I like is that, though he's a big guy for a corner, he's not some slow lanky goofball who can't hang with receivers, like Gary Baxter was at times. He was covering Santana Moss very tightly, which is tough even for a smaller corner.

I suspect this copycat league will be emulating the Chargers' passing attack more and more, a big guy throwing to other big guys. All we need Cary to be is a poor man's McAlister without the 'tude.

After the first drive of the skins game I thought our secondary held up well. In all honesty they only blew that one deep play. The other catches were mostly lb assignments. I agree that cary Williams is making a name for himself. I hope he steps up similar to what Webb did late last year.

I had forgot about Rey not getting any trouble either. I mean the kid for the texans got caught juicing and only got a 4 game suspension. Really you get caught using performance enhancing drugs and only get 4 games???

We could do without him against the Jets because I dont see Sanchez as elite but we need the help with the bumgals.
