OchoCinco Keeps Up The Bengals-Ravens Rivalry

33 posts in this topic

The ESPN posted the following on it's website under the caption: The AFC North trash talking continues from Chad Ochocinco. The Cincinnati Bengals' Pro Bowl receiver resumed his verbal assault on his division rivals, with his latest installment coming via Twitter on Saturday night. NBA star and Baltimore native Carmelo Anthony was praising his hometown Ravens following last night's 23-3 preseason win against the Washington Redskins. Then Ochocinco jumped in with a response.

[i]"Bruh don't get to [sic] excited we [will] smash the Ravens, I owe Ray Lewis big time, I won't lose across the middle this time," Ochocinco tweeted back to Anthony. Ochocinco was referring to a tough hit he took from Lewis last season in Baltimore, a game Cincinnati won. In fact, the Ravens have struggled in recent seasons against the Bengals, which includes last year's season sweep."

Who thinks that Ocho is gunning for Ray Lewis? I remember a few years back where Heap had a target painted on his back after he suffered an injury. Is Ocho capable of placing a Steeler-like cheapshot on our aging LB? I would hate to be Ocho when he tries to cut across the middle this year. What do you think?

Chad has never been interested in blocking so juking Ray out of his socks aside, I don't see how he'd be "gunning" for #52. He tried to block Ray a few years ago and this is what happened.(Link)

We Sicilians have a saying, "Talk less, do more!"

Ocho needs to wear dancing tights and a flak jacket when he plays the Ravens. Also, I loved the hit on Ahmand Hall of the Titans in January, 2009.

Chad is going to get himself hurt if he keeps running his mouth. Lewis, Suggs and Reed are going to be gunning for him. All he is doing is making his target bigger and bigger.

How many times do we have to go over this? They are friends, and pretty close if I remember correctly. Chad is doing what Chad does, have fun. I'm pretty sure Chad is not gunning for Ray. I hope not, for his sake.

You beat me to it. But yes, Ray and Chad talk regularly and are friends. This is just Chad being Chad, trying to have fun at a friend's expense. It's a friendly rivalry. There's no bad blood between the two. Furthermore, the Ravens-Bengals rivalry isn't nearly as heated as the Ravens and Steelers or even Ravens and Browns.

How can he open his mouth so soon after getting smashed and whining about getting smashed the other night against the Eagles.

I actually like Chad. That is, when he isn't playing against us. The guy is a born entertainer, has fun and plays for the love of the game.

I'd much rather we were painting a target on Hines Ward's back. What ever happened to the bounty on his head? I'll never forgive the guy for the cheap shot he put on Ed Reed, or the fore-arm smash he delivered to Keith Rivers' jaw (I know he's a Bengal, but I didn't like seeing a promising kid miss time because of a dirty, blindside hit from a dispicable player).

Chad is one of the most annoying players in the league in my oppinion but cheap shotting someone I don't think is something he would do

People take Chad way too seriously sometimes. I can't remember the last time he said something serious.

With that said, I actually do like the man. He may be irritating sometimes, but more often than not, he's extremely entertaining. Aside from... you know, changing his last name to "Ochocinco", which I refuse to call him.

Outside of Cedric Benson the Bengals offense is so soft. Ocho is scared to cross the middle and TO gets alligator arms when he does. They better watch out for #52.

Agree with you guys. Chad is just being Chad. Chad would be really stupid to think that he could hurt Ray-Ray LOL. Stupid he is not, he's just talking trash.

While I don't think Ocho will be coming across the middle... I do think that Ray Lewis will be more concerned with Terrell Owens, so Ocho might get a free pass in the first game.

We still haven't gotten that revenge on Terrell Owens that he deserves. It's coming this year. Week 2. And then Week 17, I really hope these two teams are battling for the division, and that game decides it all. In M&T Bank, January weather, oh yes... just lovely. And if that game DOES decide the division... I'm pretty sure it'll be moved to Sunday Night Football.

Either way, Chad isn't a dirty player. He's not going to be taking cheap shots on anyone. I'm sure we'll see that in the Pittsburgh games, though.

If you don't know Chad humbly jokes around, you don't know Ravens football. The guy likes to put on a show, enjoys exchanging trash talk for fun and everyone loves him because hes in the most part a classy guy.

Ray will have his hands full with TO and 85. He may have lost a step and a half on his speed, but his power at impact ranks up there with the best. It's a real test to take on teams like CINN, IND, and NO in this league. Go Ravens!

Enough said, just imagine if Ray was even focused on Chad during that play. Chad ran into a moving brick wall that day!

Chad EightFive (its Ochenta y cinco amigo) continues to set himself up for a painful season. All 13 defenses he will go up against are listening to a degree, trust me. And when each one sees him they are are gonna see a big mouthed bullseye. I can't wait...

Yeah but it's what Chad does to fuel him. He wants to talk smack so defenses zero in on him, he rises to the challenge. It's all part of the game he plays to get himself uber-motivated.

Look, I didn't mind his smack talk until this season. But his head has gotten so swollen from everything: T.O., getting on two reality shows, having a winning season last year (something he's definitely not used to) despite him doing absolutely NOTHING in their last two games against the Jets (he didn't "rise" to that challenge, huh?). The rest of his team busted their tails this offseason before training camp while he was playing around. Then he shows up for the last OTA and starts running his mouth while he was admittedly not up to speed. If he had been working hard like our team or, like I said, even the rest of his team, I wouldn't have had anywhere near as big of a problem with it, if any at all. But it just continues and continues. He's even tweeting during their preseason games, ridiculous. I have already seen where he is fueling OTHER teams more than himself (us, the Steelers, the Browns, even saw the Bills jumping in the fray with some tweets) and he will see the "fruits of his labors" this season. And I don't particularly care how bad it makes me sound, but I can't wait to see him pay for it on the field. There is a difference between being confident and arrogant.

HAHA that's funny! Chad's just a 'character' is all. Can't wait to see what trouble he gets into out there this year.

You can't have a serious discussion on a Ochocinco soundbite. It's ok for a laugh and a joke but don't discuss this like it's serious. Please.

Dude that link is hilarious. You gotta give the guy credit for manning up and trying to block Ray, and then admitting things didn't exactly turn out.
