On Comcast (their website's home page), I read that we are predicted as #1 to win the Super Bowl, (Colts are #2 haha!) do you agree with the prediction?

Not with what the Ravens have playing in the secondary. McNabb just threw for 206 yards in one half of football.

Yes but he threw the ball 26 times. That'd be 52 for a full game. Ridiculous!

not with that secondary
Yes, the secondary gave up some big catches today and it wasn't just the DBs getting beat. A good number of McNabb's completions also came over the middle and the LBs struggled mightily in coverage.

Eh, our overall coverage has to improve first...unless our offense puts up 35+ points a game. The first-team offense didn't look too hot tonight.

Granted they gave up over 200 yards in the first half but the real bright side of it all is, they only allowed a total of 3 points. You don't win games by yards, you win by points and in most games ... 3 points isn't going to cut it.

Yea the overall coverage wasn't that great, but the overall defense was. They gave up 3 points on the opening drive and nothing else.

Having LBs covering Moss is never a good idea, plus ever QB we play won't be as savy as McNabb, he avioded at least 3 sacks tonite.

So while things have to improve, it's not that bad.

Agreed. When it comes down to it, the points are all that matter. I'm happy with the overall performance, though. To hold a guy like McNabb to 3 in a half considering our secondary situation is pretty good in my opinion.

as long as the ravens don't get as many penalties as last year then i think the ravens are super bowl bound

also, does anyone have the list of the best sports teams in the world? my dad said he saw the list and said that the ravens were the highest ranked nfl team on the list (was told that the ravens were ranked 15 of the best sports teams in the world)

Glad to see someone else is noticing our porous secondary-To say I'm worried is an understatement-we have 9 of the best quarterbacks in the league on our schedule!

The Ravens faced great QBs last year and ended up crashing out of the play-offs more because of an inept offense than problems in the secondary.

I'm still waiting to see that high-powered offense we all are expecting, or at least glimpses of it. The first unit looked flat for the most part. If it hadn't been for the faked punt and Bulger's play with the 2nd team, this game could have ended at 9 - 3.

As Jamison Hensley said, we likely won't see the high-octate offense people expected till the o-line is sorted out.

Yeah, I had a couple of buddies that couldn't watch the game last night that I was giving updates to via text. I kept mentioning the lack of a 1st team offense due to our o-line giving Flacco little to no time. I am definitely worried about this.

Hahaha, if we were that confident, we would be in Vegas right now betting the farm on the Ravens, not sitting in the armchair speculating about it. We are on track to make the playoffs. After that, only God knows what's in store for the Ravens.

Yep. Oher has looked shaky at LT and because of his early get-off, pass rushers can get pretty close to Joe at times. Combine that with Joe inexperience, still developing pocket presence and footwork and lack of great timing with WRs besides Mason, the offense is bound to look out of sync.

I really hope Gaither gets healthy soon.

Thank you! you get a +1. They were working the middle of the field, and LB's either missed assignments or got beat in coverage. It wasn't all on the secondary, actually they played rather well. Fisher got burned on a double move but it was an incomplete pass that was about the worst thing I saw out of the secondary all night

Yep. And while players likely won't be missing assignments as much into the season, coverage isn't something that gets better over night. I'd say the safeties should pick up TEs but the CBs aren't good enough to be left on islands.

Like other teams wont take advantage of the Ravens' defense weekness. If D. McNabb can pass for 206 yards in a half then Palmer, Brees and Brady will have no problem also.

Never liked those "Winning it all" predictions (Super Bowl III & 69,71&79 World Series) Too painful at the end!

We shouldn't even talk about the Super Bowl until we make the playoffs. We've got more pressing issues to worry about.

You could hold onto that statistic all you want. The Ravens didn't have their best CBs out there and still have defensive schemes to iron out. There's still time for players to healthy and improve communication.

Who are the best Ravens best DB's?
Don't get me wrong and start bashing me but this is the weekness the Ravens have. Yes they played bend but do not break defense against the skins. Giving up just 3 points is terrific, a outstanding job looking at the final score. But if you watch the whole game it's very obvious the Redskins' offense was able to move the football down the field vie the pass. Some QB mistakes (over/under throws and INT) by Mcnabb was the downfall for the Redskins. McNabb is known to be inconsistant at times.
Now of course the Ravens defense toughen up and were able to make some key stops but are they going to be able to do that against the Saints, Patriots, Steelers or Bengals?

Your looking to much into preseason. As was stated we are still ironing out schemes. If we were facing those teams we would obivously have our best out. I think right now our best DBs are Washington, Webb, Williams, Carr and then Miller.

They had that one drive that was good then after that never really got going. I mean they had some good passes but nothing consistant like that first drive. The colts have their own issues to address because without manning then yall are nothing.
