It should also be noted that, for people who don't get these channels at all, these programs are all available online on BaltimoreRavens.com after their initial television airing! Check the Videos section.

Hell must have officially frozen over! Comcast Sportsnet is a die hard Redskins station.

Keep in mind, this is the Baltimore affiliate of CSN that was just recently launched; prior to this, Baltimore-area residents only got the Washington-area feed.

when i was in b-more county it seemed like we got the philly version in the early 2000's. They had best damn sports show...and stephen A. Smith's show in philly before he was on espn...and they always talked about the 76ers. they would show orioles games as well. it seemed like they covered philly, b-more and DC.

CSN is based out of Philadelphia (Comcast's headquarters), so CSN Philly was the flagship. CSN began acquiring other regional sports networks and rebranding them, hence the inception of CSN Washington and now CSN Baltimore. That would explain the mixed regional coverage for awhile. I believe they're redoing their broadcast maps, so CSN Baltimore should eventually launch further throughout the region alongside CSN Washington and eventually replace CSN Philly in some areas where appropriate.

"CSN Baltimore" = the new CSN Baltimore web-site? Or will this be a new TV channel?

I've only seen the RAVE-TV shows announced to be played on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic (channel 76/576 HD on Verizon), which is the former Home Team Sports. There is a second CSN Channel called Comcast SportsNet Plus (channel 334 on Verizon), which shows DC Wizards games.

Has there been an announcement about a third CSN channel in Maryland, for Baltimore sports? That could get dicey, when added to the two MASN stations in the mix. Or will CSN+ morph into a Baltimore sports station? Or will CSN claim to be "Mid-Atlantic" while both CSN stations remain "DC-centric"?

It is only a website right now but I presume it will eventually become a new regional affiliate. The idea is to compete directly with MASN, especially after what's allegedly happened between Steve Bisciotti and Peter Angelos that resulted in the fallout during negotiations of the Ravens' contract with MASN.

Additionally, CSN has been quietly absorbing regional affiliates and expanding into different markets the past few years, so a move into Baltimore that would split the Baltimore/DC metro area wouldn't surprise me. There's just too much going on in sports with the Ravens, Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, Orioles, and Nationals (yes, even the Nats...), for an all-encompassing mid-atlantic network to really be viable. We've seen for years the discontent that viewers have had with MASN for trying to accommodate both markets, and I would argue that their efforts have largely failed because of the disparate fanbases along the Beltway.

I THINK I am relieved... All this talk of a "Baltimore Feed" still has me thinking. Will we die hard Raven fans in Northern VA/DC continue to be able to see Rave TV programming on CSN? Or... will a NEW "CSN Baltimmore" be launched that my VA FIOS wont carry?

I WANT to be excited...

Thanks!

I think the only thing that would prevent a new Baltimore affiliate from forming would be a lack of cooperation with the Orioles. There could be an inherent lack of access granted compared to MASN because of Angelos' financial stake in MASN, as the station is owned by the Orioles.

However, if CSN Baltimore becomes mainly a Ravens-heavy station with supplemented commentary on the Orioles as well as a focus on other Baltimore-area sports (high school, Maryland Terrapins, etc.), then the station could be viable and profitable.

This is where the rubber will meet the road! I don't share you optimism about a Baltimore sports channel. :ref:

Off season, how much Ravens news would there be to fill up a Baltimore-only sports station? There are a few local colleges, but the only national power in the State is in the DC suburbs. How would such a station prevent withering over the Summer without Orioles games?

That's why I asked the question above: I just don't believe that there will be a Baltimore-centric station in the CSN complex. With Angelos holding a 70% stake in MASN, the Orioles are going nowhere. But with the recent schism between the Ravens and MASN over RAVE-TV, there's now no chance of Angelos creating a Baltimore-centric MASN channel.

The best shot for a Baltimore-centric sports channel will likely be that we see more Ravens programming moved to the CSN+ channel (to avoid competing with Redskins on CSN), but watch it lose any Baltimore orientation once winter sports begin. And forget about ever seeing much on the Baltimore area college sports teams.
