Could Webb Play Week 1?

9 posts in this topic

It just came across the wire that Harbaugh said Webb might be taken off the PUP list soon due to him being ahead of schedule.

It's too early to say whether he plays Week 1 and even if he does, there will definitely be some rust to shake off but this is still pretty good news.

Ya its good to see but everyone seems to be more optomistic than Webb, and thats the thing that worries me. Just like the Reed situation. But i hope they can both play as soon as possible.

I don't want to be a pessimist, but I'd rather we didn't rush Webb or Reed back to action. They're key players and I wouldn't like to see them go down having been rushed back into action too quickly.

ACL surgery is a major thing and I want Webb to be careful. If that means he sits the first couple games then so be it.

Thanks for the heads up. I think Webb will play come week one, as well as Reed and Washington. One or two, or even three might be used with caution and may not get a lot of minutes, but it'll be better to get some proven bodies out there.

Do we really want him to suit up?

Ideally I would love to have Webb start the season on the PUP lisf, because a healthy long Career Webb excites me more than a set back Webb.

But given our current CB situation., that will never happen. I think we can do well without him wk 1, so let's not push him back to early.

I was about to write the exact same thing. Even if "they" say Webb could play week 1 I would rather he comeback later in the season. I want to win multiple superbowls not just shoot for 1 this year. I hope they both stay out until they are comfortable comming back.

Just because he's coming off the PUP doesn't mean that he's going to be ready by week 1. That being said, I HOPE he's ready by week 1 but he's already missed almost the entire Training Camp and hasn't played since December. He has to get back into game shape on top of making sure the knee is 100% healed.

On the fip side, just because he's not ready to play just yet doesn't mean that they HAVE to put him on the PUP. He could be a scratch for the first few games, and not have to be out for 6 weeks.
