Kruger Is A Beast

114 posts in this topic

This bit is from the Baltimore Sun about Monday's practice

KRUGER BECOMES A NIGHTMARE Defensive end Paul Kruger took four consecutive snaps during a 1-on-1 pass-rushing drill and beat left tackle Michael Oher, left guard Ben Grubbs and center Chris Chester. Afterward, he was greeted by cheers from his defensive teammates and defensive end Trevor Pryce patted him on the back.

This coupled with everything else I've heard about his camp and how good he looked against the Panthers really gets me excited. I was a huge Kruger fan coming out of college and I can't wait to see him put it together this year.

Here's the whole articles is you want to read it.

I take it he was a Kruger hater? There were plenty of them last year.

I don't think there were many haters at all - the kid never got a shot. A lot of us were actually high on him and were wanting to see more of him in the regular season, but thats what happens when you have the deepest LB corps in all of pro football.

I'm so hyped up about this kid its not even funny. To take everything in stride the way he has, to do everything that has been asked of him and to do it damn well - man on man was this guy a great pickup. Can't wait to see his legend-in-the-making of a "motor" terrorizing OL men.

Anyone see his spin move he pulled off?

I remember when the Ravens took him 2nd round last year, a lot of people were like "Who???"

Nice to see he is playing up to his expectations. Let's hope he keeps this up all year!

So now the people who called him a bust just because he didn't play his rookie season should take a lesson and be logical next time. Sometimes players need some time to develop. Especially if he needed to gain weight. Or should we bring up the old discussions of "we shouldn't have drafted Kruger, why didn't we get a receiver". It's easy to be a ravens fan when they draft this well.

Hopefully, Kruger make an impact this year. While I thought it was ludicrous to say he was a bust or the team had made a mistake drafting him after last season, it was a bit disappointing he didn't play much.

As glad as I am about that, after watching Oher struggle a bit in that Panthers game I am a lil worried.
Same. He should be on track by the opener though.

For that matter Grubbs too. In the Panther game it looked like Oher got beat twice but apparently he got beat one and Grubbs got beat the second time. Our left side is supposed to be the dominant side.

Maybe Oher needs the pressure of a real game to unleash his superhuman blind side protective instincts.
Maybe he's too hard on himself. Did you see how bummed out he looked during the game once he was taken out? He was sitting by himself at the end of the bench the rest of the night. At least we know one OT is dedicated to the team. Not gonna say who isn't..."cough" Gaither...

Maybe he needs to play the Redskins again. Everyone remember his debut last pre-season?

very well said,he is one of the few guys I actually knew about coming out of college(not a big college watcher),and when they announced we drafted him i was so pumped. He wasn't very imoressive(even tho he helped us defeat Pittsburgh greatly),I feel this season will be different.he had 3 tackles and 1.5 sacks vs Carolina, and got tons of pressure minus his first series

Isn't that he beat Oher their both in year 2 and still learning. I know we will keep him as a pass rusher he can do it he did it last year. I think last year he dropped in to coverage and got a INT IN A IMPORTANT GAME. I think it was a playoff game and changed the MOE of the game. Could be wrong???

Kruger's interception came against the Steelers in overtime during the regular season.

Man we don't know how serious Gaither's injury is. Still no proof of him not practicing on purpose. All I can say is he better be healthy and get on the field week 1 and at LT because he is the best option at LT when healthy. I'm gonna keep saying it, but I feel Oher needs more time to develop into the NFL LT everyone wants him to be.

Saw it and Im fine with it. Felt bad for the kid, but he loves football and let himself and the team down. If he's thinking about it, that means he's trying to be better. Go get em Michael.

Kruger and Barnes are really impressing so far. Not to jump the gun, but if these guys pan out like I think they can, we could be looking at some Michael McCrary/Peter Boulware type players, respectively.

I'm a little worried that the improving pass rush might be nullified by quick release, three step drop qb's though. If we don't have guys who can play bump 'n' run and deny the short stuff, no pass rush is going to get there quick enough.

Hopefully, the improved pass rush from 3 or 4 guys allows our corners to play tighter with more linebacker and safety help since we won't need to blitz to generate pressure.

--

Regarding Michael Oher, we just need Sandra Bullock to go out there and explain that protecting a QB is like family, and have him instantly turn from a teddy bear into a mauler. Gotta love the simplified silliness of Hollywood.

jk man, I know Oher makes mistakes. He is a beast but for Kruger, he got lucky. Today, he is gonna be like Hale when Haloti flattened him. jk again. :point:
