Antonio Bryant May Never Play For The Bengals

34 posts in this topic

Maybe there won't be a "Big 3" in Cincy after all.
Five months after the Bengals signed free agent wide receiver Antonio Bryant, talk continues that Bryant will never play a down in Cincinnati.
Just another case of the Bengals making poor investment choices.

They found something they liked at the toy shop. Paid a lot of money for it. Then a few days later they find something better and want that instead. So they wasted money on the first toy.

So both Matt Jones, who looks like complete crap on the football field and Bryant might be gone? That's great for the Bengals lol.

I find it ironic that all of the teams that we are playing at the beginning of the season are having offensive issues. Holmes is suspended, Bengals and Bryant, the Browns are the Browns, Ben is suspended, Patriots have Welker injured but he's coming back and Holt is gone.

Very interesting. Makes the Bengals look stupid and Bryant makes off like a bandit. Doesn't play a freaking down and runs away with 8 million+. Almost as good as what Marbury had for the Knicks. Getting paid to not play. Now thats a tough life.

I wish my work would pay me upfront and then tell me to go home. I hate this place so much.

tell me about it. I always want to punch my bosses in the face. And the unfortunate part is, my parents are my bosses so I see them after work too. Football is my escapism and extacy from punching people in the face. I live vicariously through Ray Lewis.

This reminds me of a line from an aricle I read recently.

What's wrong with Jones? He actually looked somewhat decent against Dallas.

I personally think Jones would be a great receiver to have. Dave Chappelle showed me how crack addicts will truly do anything for crack. Perfect motivation for Jones.

Good thing for Cincy they hedged their bets by drafting Jordan Shipley, who looks like he could be a pretty good player.

They also have Andre Caldwell who showed some decent flashes last year. Bengals are fairly stacked at WR.

Agreed. Caldwell seems to the be forgotten man but he shouldn't be.

They grabbed Dezmon Briscoe who has a lot of upside in the later rounds to boot.

I still love the idea of being able to light up Batman (T.O) and Robin (Ocho) twice this season. I just hope Gresham turns out to be a "Me First" TE, that would help Carson's head implode sooner.

The Bengals have all the right ingredients for a monumental collapse this season: Egos, convictions and a history of implosion.

LOL! I'm going to start using that as my tagline on Skype.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand; I think Cincy bamboozled themselves right from the start with the whole T.O. situation; the way his contract is worked up, they are going to have a lot problems come the middle of the season if/when he isn't meeting his markers to get paid. The T.O. Meltdown continues.

I've said it a thousand times; you can stock your arsenal at every position but it doesn't guarantee success. <Now I've said it a thousand-and-one times.>

If he does get released, I would bet $10 that the Redskins sign him.
If he gets released before the season I'll be shocked and I bet the Bengals are kicking themselves for signing him now. At most I can see him on IR for the season. Yeah you are probably right the Redskins would sign him because just like VJ Danny boy would have to fork out money to get him but unlike VJ it wouldn't cost him a 1st round pick.

Bump!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81a19efb/article/bengals-cut-ties-with-injuryplagued-veteran-wr-bryant?module=HP_headlines

How much money did he make and gets to keep from Cincinnati?

So possible teams for him are

Rams - Why not give Bradford a more experienced WR, plus Donnie Avery tore his ACL.
Chargers - No Vincent Jackson in SD right now.
Vikings - Sidney Rice has injury, Harvin has migraines.
Redskins - Redskins were interested in him before he signed with Bengals, now they can get him.
Bears - Maybe Cutler could use a better WR then Knox
Seahawks - Maybe they forget about VJax and take Bryant instead.
Buccaneers - Perhaps he re-signs with Tampa Bay Bucs?
Ravens- I seriously doubt it, but with Stallworth broken foot....Who Knows!?

No team will touch him because of his injury unless they are willing to give him some time to heal.

This could be one of the worst FA signings of all time considering how big the contract was and he didnt he play a down in a Bengal uniform.

Yep, I think so too. Poor Bengals, got duped into paying a bunch of money to someone who didn't play a single down for them, that has to be the worst $28 Million ever spent in the NFL.
