Kyle Boller Vs. Troy Smith

I wanted to vote but the only reason I struggle with my choice is that Boller, started for a number of years. Troy has only made a few games. Even though Troy has struggled in practice or in games at times it's not like he's been able to start and be only field an entire season.

Boller got multiple chances and proved to be a backup. Not saying the result with Troy will be any different be I can really judge until he's had the same opportunity.

I guess some people don't realize that BACK UP QB's rarely get a chance to be starters. So, you can judge them on not being able to overtake the incumbent starter. If you wait to make an opinion on a carrer back-up because of not having playing time, you may never actually form one. My point is, people say Troy hasn't had a chance... How many back-ups actually get the chance unless it's injury related? You can't tell me you've sat at a Training Camp practice or even preseason and witenessed Troy smith thriving... It's just not true. Troy has been in the system going on 3 years and STILL can't perform well in PRACTICE. Don't you think teams would be beating down our dorrs if he were comparable to their injured starting QB?

Neither is a franchise QB. As a backup though, I would take Kyle over Troy now.
Don't get me wrong, Troy is a great guy. When we drafted him and it looked as though he was gonna get a shot to start before Joe in 08, I was all for it. But based on what we've seen from his spot duty since and in preseason last year and the Panthers game, its pretty clear to me he doesn't really have what it takes to be a starter in the NFL. Boller certainly had his ups and downs, but as a backup I think he would be great. He was almost golden in 06 when McNair was out of the game and he had a solid outing for the Raiders against Dallas' 2nd & 3rd stringers the other night.

At least Troy Smith won a Heisman Trophy. The only thing Boller had going for him was Billick's "Leap of Faith". Many quarterbacks can throw a ball 60 yards. It all boils down to accuracy.

Anytime I hear the "Boller frrm the knee 60 yard crap", I laugh. Flacco threw a not so tight spiraled ball 74 yards in the college QB challenge a few years back....Boller = hilarious!!!!

The whole Hiesman thing is really useless when it comes to the NFL. Saying at least Troy won the Hiesman is equal to saying at least Boller has a good lookin wife. What does it have to do with what happends on a NFL field?

Boller. He actually shows some flashes like that Green Bay game and that Pats game in 2007. We would have won if we weren't screwed over.
