Thursday was a good start for Clayton. He could flourish in the slot this season.

The interesting thing about Clayton thrusday was he never played in the slot with the first team.

On his 18 yard catch he was on the outside, and on his 30 yard TD he was the only WR on the field in a 2TE 2RB 1WR set.

Now i'm not saying he's ready to be a featured WR for us, but the Ravens will have some many options this year, that Clayton could be lined up anywhere on the field. The same can be said for any of our WRs.

Hell Ed Dickson spent almost as much time lined up on the outside like a WR as Marcus Smith and Eron Riley did. I really like what i see so far.

I thought that was interesting, too. The only reason I said the slot is because we could really take advantage of opposing defenses when we put multiple weapons on the field. The idea of Clayton against #3 or #4 corners is simply beautiful.

yea i have to agree with that. Hell the way it's lookin, Ed Dickson against #3 or #4 corners will be simply beautiful.

I think Stallworth and Clayton will work well together in the slot and given those down field opportunites.

I love how much Ed Dickson was used in the 2 TE set with Heap the other night.

I think Clayton did good but i still see Stallworth being better than him this year. If you watched the game, you could see Stalls was open deep more than Clayton but he was under and over thrown SOOO bad by Marc Bulger.

And like I said earlier, two catches in one preseason game is not enough to impress me.

I still think McG and Clayton were being played heavily in the first few drives to turn them in to trade bait.
Sorry but I don't think Flacco went to Clayton so the Ravens could trade him, he went to Clayton because Clayton was open, and he capitalized.

It definitely will be...even a LB would have problems with his 6'5" frame.

Yeah, the two TE sets were a plus. I'm personally hoping that Cam is saving the 3 TE sets for crucial moments in the regular season. Cameron would be an idiot to not scheme a 3 TE set package...it would just be unfair to defenses...

TE TE LT LG C RG RT TE
QB (I can't get the QB, FB, & RB under the C)
FB
RB

The FB could also be replaced with Boldin out wide on a slant or go route. Scary. If Dickson and Pitta learn to block, these defenses should just stay home.

In reality I don't know how I got a -7 on this post. I just wanted to see how this trend if/would it continue over the course of the next couple preseason games. Giving him and us another option to rely on for the deep pass yardage.

Me neither....I am truly befuddled by it! :229031_rofl:

Mark Clayton against the Redskins!
I predict:
125yds 2 (2d's) and 6-7 catches
I doubt it. He probably won't play the second half. Predictions in preseason games don't make sense to me.

The Skins have a better pass defense than the Panthers, so Saturday should be a good test for guys lke Clayton...at least for those of you that think what Mark shows in the preseason will really matter. I personally don't take anything from it because of past experience with D-Will.

I suppose that's subjective, but last season the Panthers had the 4th rated pass defense and the Redskins were 8th.

It hardly matters though; it is just the pre-season. Of course, I'd rather see him do well against them, regardless.

I like him as a 3rd/4th option, he definitely has the talent to beat nickelbacks down the field, as evidenced by the first game. Let's see how the preseason plays out before any concrete decisions are made though, in regards to whether or not Clayton will be 3rd or 4th

I think Mark Clayton given the two TE with good down field pass protection is going to run a sick *** route on these Redskins..

Would love to see my ol' whipping boy put the boot to the Skins...dont see it happening though because from what I recall we've never had all that much success throwing on them...but then again we've never ever had the firepower that we do now either. I think it's great; for the last couple years I've wanted to see Clayton moved to the slot, now its happening and I think we're finally going to see some returns on that first round pick we invested into him. He certainly wont be on any of my fantasy teams lol...but I'm expecting some big plays from him this season. Time to break out the Clayton pom-poms!

He had 1 good catch thus for in the 1st game of the preseason.
I think he will redeem him of a season of horrible drop balls. This to me just looks like a start to something great and an asset to the ravens. I just want to know if we can rely on this guy on a 4 wide receiver set 3 fully covered?

It is, and I knew the numbers from last year, but I took into account how terribly injured the Panthers already are.

Yeah, I just think its funny to hope someone plays a good game in the form of A sick route as opposed to sick routeS.

Did Clayton just have that one short catch tonight?
He actually had 2 grabs for 7 yards.

I was at the stadium the day that they drafted Clayton. He was supposed to be the answer to all of our problems. So far, he has shown that he is a better-than-average receiver, but never panned out to his expectations. Still, Mark has too much talent to cut him or trade him for a benchwarmer OL or CB. Maybe, this will be the year that he shows his true colors and shines.
