The New Turf

anything to be concerned about? I know it's been raining on and off all day, but it looks rediculously slippery out there. Even in the first quarter players were going down w/o being touched. Little worried about guys slipping, catching a cleat, and tearing something. Is this just b/c the new turf is too soft and needs to be broken in or what??

The rubber they lay down into the field hasn't settled yet, and its stopping some of the drainage. It will be fine on opening day. Its raining crazy right there now, and I havnt seen any slipping, but I know what you mean.

They said with this new turf which was one major reason they put it in it's so much better to run on in all conditions and people are much less likely to be taking wrong plants and tearing stuff on it.

The turfs brand new, it needs to be broken in.

It wasn't the new turf. Our guys last season had trouble with slipping as well, I just think its our guys.

Well someone needs to assemble an army of volunteers to run around on that field all day.

I think it was a combo of new turf, light rain (always slippery), and the jitters. It'll be fine for the Reg Season.

Yea I was sitting in the stands getting soaked. The conditions were definitely slick to say the least. People where slipping in the aisles.

For the last few months when it rains, it only rains for like 5-10 minutes. Tonight it rained non stop for like 2 hours. Very disappointing.

When I said light rain I was refering to the beginning of the game. Light rain is hard to see on TV and the field doesn't look wet. Obviously it poured later (and for a long time).

I would have stayed for the 4th quarter if it didnt. Instead I had to sit in the car with my drunk uncle and cousins listening to it.

Yea I'm sick of rain today. I sat in it at the stands and before the game I was at my house bucketing water out of my backyard window cove in the pouring rain because my basement was flooding.

It's been a long "wet" day.

We left in the 3rd, my dad and his friend are in their 70's and it was just better for all if we left lol.
