Now the question is? Do Sidney Rice owners drop him? At least 8 games is a long time.
Another question would be: Why did he wait until now to have the operation? I remember them speaking about it at the end of last season and can't understand why he didn't have the operation sooner.

Glad I didn't trust him in any of my leagues, saved me drafting a bust for this year.

I didn't trust him either. It will be tough for Favre to replicate what he did last year. And people were drafting Rice based on what he did last season. So he wasn't on any of my teams.

It sounds like who ever was seeing him earlier was telling him it didn't need surgery. But the bugging pain was still there and he sought even more specialist and determined the only way to get rid of the pain is to have surgery.

How about this 49ers rookie RB Anthony Dixon? He has really shined in the preseason, defintely watch for him fi Westbrook gets injured. In Preseason Week 1 Dixon had 21 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown Then this week, Preseason Week 2 Dixon carried 20 times for 51 yards and a touchdown.

The kid is defitnely making a name or himself. I would reccomend having him no your watch list if Westbrook gets injured.

Still behind Gore and probably Westbrook. Not this year. But Dixon could be a future player for them

He's also got 2 of the NFLs most fragile runningbacks infront of him on the depth chart.

Weren't some teams scared off him because of the number of carries he had at college?

Well forget about possible surgery for Rice.

Rice already had surgery apparently! On Monday (yesterday).
My link

Looks like he will miss a portion of the season. The Star Tribune is estimating a half season will be missed.

I feel slightly bad for the guy, but I took Percy Harvin in the 6th round and if he can get/stay on the field, that would be huge for my team with Rice out... The guy who took Sidney in my league drafted him in the 3rd which is crippling (especially when guys like Calvin Johnson, Welker, etc. were still on the board), but was smart and drafted Berrian late... what kind of value do you think Berrian has now?

Berrian is rocketing to a 4th dimension. But you have to be careful with Berrian he has been nagged by hammy injuries for years.

His only great year was the year the Bears went to the superbowl. He hasn't lived up to the hype since then. People might start drafting him way to early, but he is still a risk.

true... the guy got him in the 16th round though, so not too shabby... again, I like Harvin even more now because of it... hopefully he won't be a headache for me all year (and yes, cheesy pun intended)

I'm contemplating picking up B Twice in my money league, but not if I have to drop Cadillac Williams, Kellen Winslow, Mike Williams or Donald Brown. I'm stumped.

I'd drop Mike Williams. Brett Favre is a better qb and isn't Mike Williams a rookie? Which Mike Williams? Benard Berrian could be sick this year now.

Really? Berrian is going to be the number one.

Cadillac I can understand. He has potential and has been playing well.

Winslow. He is ok. The Bucs aren't that good at throwing. If he is a number two tight end on a team why wouldn't you drop him for Berrian. Two tight ends isn't that necessary and Winslow is a match up tight end at best

As far as I know, Mike Williams is a rookie wide reciever for the Bucs who have a young qb throwing to him. Rookie wr's and young qbs is not a good combination for success for WR's

Then Donald Brown still can't pass block and is a backup to addai. Addai can get in the endzone and he can pass block so Addai will still get the load.

Personally I would drop all but Cadillac to get Berrian.

All great points. Berrian's propensity to get hurt makes me wary though.

If anything he should drop one of those players because he has three Bucs on his team! Winslow, Williams and Caddy.

I would drop Winslow for Berrian. I would think hard about cutting Mike Williams for Berrian, but I'd probably keep Williams. But like you, I do not trust Berrian. The minute he gets the full load he'll pull a hammy and be hampered by that the whole year.

Yeah I don't trust bad teams. Rarely do I draft players on bad teams. They have to be a special player for me to draft them on terrible teams.

I didn't realize the three Bucs. Staying with them, much like David Thomas in Jacksonville, Sammie Stroughter could become a usable WR4 at some point this year. He's outplayed everyone except for Williams and could start opposite Mike: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=5441&line=179278&spln=1

Ou of the two RBs I have on my bench, who should I drop to make room? Javon Ringer or Brian Westbrook, who do you guys think would make a better Bye Week Replacement out of the two?

Neither one is exactly a great option. I'd say Westbrook just because he has done it before and Gore has been hurt before.

Neither!

Do you own either Gore or C Johnson? If not, you shouldn't have either of these guys on your roster.

Well its not like I have a choice. I need a bench RB for my bye weeks and as far as RB go in Free Agency, these two were the best options out of a list of crappy ones. Most of the Rbs in the FA wouldnt even see the light of a run or TD. These two are the only secondary Rbs that were left. Not only that, but if either Gore or Johnson gets injured, I'll have a starting RB on my roster.

I just don't trust/like Berrian enough to drop one of those players for him. I'm not sure when Gates has his bye week, but Kellen should be a viable option to put in. I don't think you guys understand, I'm going for undefeated in all my leagues this year, and yes, that does mean our ESPN league :)

More Bad news for Derrick Ward. Coach is now questioning his physical condition.
The Tampa Tribune reports that Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris is unhappy with the physical condition of veteran RB Derrick Ward. "When you get a bit older in this league, especially as a running back, you have to realize that you need to come into camp at a lighter weight, not heavier," Morris said. "I still have a lot of confidence in Derrick Ward that he'll be ready and in shape to help us this season."
They should just cut him now.

Good news for Jacoby Jones owners.
Coach Gary Kubiak said he considers Jacoby Jones his No. 3 receiver right now, but added that "we have three starters, in my opinion."
The battle between Jones and Walter has been nip and tuck, with the incumbent starting both preseason games so far. That was expected considering Walter's status as the veteran with the hefty new contract. Look for the Texans to run plenty of three-wide sets and we still like Jones as the sleeper with more upside. The better player will get more targets.

Even though I don't own him in either of my leagues, I'd like to Johnson score double digit TDs as well.

Same here. I have him in my money league. Remember when I was asking you guys who I should starts between the two Giants and Cadillac Williams? Well I traded. I sent McNabb, Brandon Jacobs and Miles Austin for Tony Romo and Knowshon Moreno.

Now my lineup looks like this:

Romo
Rice
Jamaal Charles
Moreno
Andre Johnson
Hakeem Nicks
Antonio Gates
Chad Henne
Ravens D

Obviously I'm confident in Nicks this year, as I think he'll have a breakout year and could even sneek into to the top 15 of WR's. Like it?

You better hope that Nicks is good. You are very very solid though. I like the trade. It was worth it. Romo will be a stud. Moreno is a good number 3. I'd rather have strong rbs than receivers. You can pick up a guy on waivers to fill in at receiver most of the time.
