But won't the #1 CBs still be covering Ocho? It's tough for defenses to figure who should get the all-star coverage treatment. I guess they figure that as the game progresses. Whoever seems to be hotter will get the treatment.

Whoever is the #2 receiver on the Bengals this year should see some good targets. Just like Caldwell did last year (I do not really count Coles as a valid receiver).
Well #1 corners covered him last year and he still got 1000 yards. If anything he probably got some doubles because Caldwell isn't the type of receiver to strike fear into defense's hearts. Ocho is consistently solid and I think he can beat number one corners, unless it's the island or aso. He isn't going to put up amazing numbers, but as a number 2 corner he is a very consistent play.

New Name to Know:

Chris Ivory. RB - Saints

He's been impressive in TC and preseason. He know will probably see an increased role in the offense. It sounds like the Saints are feeling pretty good about him being the back up to Thomas/Bush.

But like always he is one injury from being able to make a splash.

On that note what kind of carry load do you think Pierre gets?

Over/under 215 total touches

It'll be close. But are we talking touches w/ Catches or touches as purely rushing attempts?

Last year he 147 rushing attempts in 14 games. I do expect the Saints to employ a 3 running back system (who that 3rd guy is, who knows). So I'm expecting maybe 180 rushing attempts.

Tack on the 40 receptions he had last year, we are looking at maybe 220 touches.

I was thinking 215 total touches, including catches. So you are thinking 180 rushing attempts and 40 receptions? so 220 receptions?

Sorry, I originally put 120 touches. I did mean 220 total touches.

So we are looking at a 900 yard rushing, 200 yards receiving, maybe like 8-10 tds total?

It all depends on who that 3rd back is in terms of touchdowns. Pierre did score a lot from farther out w/o goaline touches. You would expect it to be hard to repeat, but he might get goalline touches now. So in the end it evens out. I think 10 TDs is a very reasonable expectation.

900 yards if he gets 180 carries @ 5 ypc. I would expect more receiving yards since he did have 300 yards in 14 games.

I can deal with that. The saints situation is so annoying because of how many weapons they have, they just use them all. And no rb or wide receiver is a good value in that system since they distribute the ball so well there. It's unpredictable regardless of the matchup

Usually I stay away from the Saints just because draft day value is not there. Colston goes too high, Bush usually goes too high. Pierre is in a better situation now that Hamilton went down. I would feel pretty safe with drafting Thomas and getting reasonable results.

I only have Pierre in one league. And in front of him I have DeAngelo, Jonathan Stewart, Ryan Grant, and I even have Jahvid Best. Stacked in that league. But Pierre fell a decent way so I had to get him. I was thinking about trading him. Maybe I could get like a Dwayne Bowe or something.

Remember the cardinal rule. Sell high, buy low.

Pierre would be a great time to sell as he is now being touted as a every down back. Sell him while he's hot before that 3rd RB makes a splash.

Thats a good point. I offered a guy, Pierre and Shiancoe for Gates and CJ Spiller. Gates would be a huge addition over Shiancoe and Spiller is still a nice back considering the injuries there

What is with Sean Payton and no-name RBs? I don't own Pierre Thomas in either of my leagues but it's just frustrating that a quality RB like Thomas will lose touches to a below-average talent.

On another note, Derrick Ward could be cut by the Bucs which is good news for Cadillac Williams owners and elevates previously unknown Kareem Huggins into someone to watch.

I have Cadillac in both Yahoo leagues. Like him a lot. I heard Ward might not make it, coach was calling out his mental toughness.

Huggins is a helluva fast kid. Another name to add to the watch list.

Westbrook signed with the 49ers today. Frank Gore owners a little nervous? Westbrook if healthy is still pretty darn good.

Glad I opted for Andre Johnson over Gore in the last draft.

But didn't the Saints just sign Ladell Betts? I thought he did alright with Rock Cartwright last year in Portis' absence...?

Yes, but my Post was before that occurred. Now that Ladell Betts has been added, it's safe to say he'll probably be the 3rd back.

Betts isn't that bad and behind a decent O-Line he might do some good. And immediately P Thomas's stock dips a little.

I gotcha. I figured it was after, but I wasn't sure. Thomas is a good back, but I would never draft him in FF unless I could get him in a later round or if Peyton would stop being so generous with the football.

Gus, remember that Ladell Betts is coming off a torn ACL. While I wouldn't be surprised if he was a TD vulture by mid-season, his knee could very well keep him from making an impact this year.

So what your saying is there is hope for Pierre Thomas to be effective?

over under 1000 yards rushing?

Yep.

Barring a major injury, I think he'll rush for over 1000 yards.

I think so too. If they would have signed someone other than Betts then I would have been worried, but Betts isn't good enough to take a lot of carries from Pierre.

Nope.

For those that have or plan to invest in Owen Daniels, he's supposedly on schedule to be ready for the season opener: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&hl=178358&id=3733

Brett Favre is flying back to Minnesota.

Hopefully this will be the last year we all have to deal with him.

Omg. I wonder if the media knows that half if the world doesn't care anymore. Not only that, but people who actually have loved Favre's career are getting sick of hearing his name.

What's up with KC? Is Haley lighting a fire under Charles' butt, or is Jones really a threat to be the number one back?

I feel like if there was a report "Just in, Brett Favre in a fatal airplane crash and everyone on the plane died." Half of America would be like, shut up, Brett Favre is so freaking annoying, we all know he is coming back.

The way rotoworld made it sound was kind of like, was similiar to the Dwayne Bowe situation of last year. Haley wanted to light a fire under him, so Bowe ran with the second and third team but started week one. Hopefully this is just to make Charles pull it together and be more consistent and starts week one.

Haha, "this JUST in, everyone on the plane BUT Favre died." Damn.

But anyway, I read that too. Either way, Haley is not a very good coach and if he decides to start Jones come week one, he'll be looking for a job in 2012.
