I love playing in large leagues. The talent is spread out and there's more strategy and fingernail-biting involved.

The draft is 9:30 Eastern time ed. Would really appreciate it if you could join lowrider.
So Double Days is 12-8, and since I live on the West Coast that means the draft starts at 6:30 for me. So I better get on those Pre-Draft Rankings.

I highly recommend you adjust your rankings. Yahoo's rankings are garbage, especially with IDPs.

Okay I agree with the first one, but Flacco for Rivers isn't TOO terrible, and Flacco and F-Jax for Rivers and Jacobs is more fair than V-Jax for Bryant.

I eventually got Rivers though so its all good in the hood.

All right let's not turn this thread into an extension of the ESPN+YAHOO league threads.

We all know that almost all of those trades sucked. Not just your's ed.

Thanks.

Ok, let's get back to fantasy news.

After an MRI, Lynell Hamilton is definitely out for the year. If he stays healthy, the PT Bruiser could have a Pro Bowl year.

For larger leagues, Mike Thomas of the Jags has reportedly torn up Jags camp and could have a breakout year.

I owned Mike Sims-Walker in two leagues last year and the lack of a quality #2 hurt him down the stretch. If Thomas really does emerge, MSW could become a a high-end WR2.

Speaking of breakouts. CBS is saying that Mike Williams is looking spectacular in camp for the Bucs. That #1 WR job is for the taking between the youths and Sammie Sloughter.

I can't buy into the 2nd WR position in Jacksonville, no matter who it is. Mike Thomas is a hard sell to me right now.

Reports came out last night that he's won the job outright: http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/38651373/ns/sports-player_news/

I know I'll be targeting him on Friday.

Stroughter has performed better than Benn this off-season so far too.

Lowrider, I've sent you an e-mail.

He's wire material but could be a decent one-week stopgap.

Definitely a quality pickup late in drafts. Great Value and huge upside. If he is the #1 receiver, he should see a good amount of targets.

Now we just have too worry about the man throwing to him. How's Freeman looking?
I actually started Freeman last year as a Flex QB in my QB league. And because I started him, I watched him play a lot too on SundayTicket. He's actually not that bad, Makes some bad decisions time to time. But he plays very solid. They really want to focus on the quality of his decision making.

He's got good QB size and decent seed. Watch out for Freeman, he could make a splash this year. I for one, wouldn't be surprised.

Arian Foster is the RB to draft in Houston, but I'm going to stay away... He's the clear-cut #1, but only god knows who will get touches from week to week.

Michael Bush has some upside this year, seeing that McFadden is already having hamstring issues

I like Harvin this year, but keep in the back of your mind those migraines (no pun intended) on draft day... he missed games last year because of it and has already missed a few days of TC for the same reason

And it's not just TB's Mike Williams to keep an eye on... The 2005 first round pick, Mike Willams from USC is supposedly looking like the best receiver in camp for the Seahawks, who have a host of injuries at that position. Not that I would draft him in a 10 team league, but especially in leagues like ER20's (18 team), he might be worth a look late: LINK: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/seahawks/2010-08-08-mike-williams-camp-report_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

Um I didn't trade for Jackson. I would never draft Bryant either. It was either FlaccoFlicker or JO_75 that made that trade with Wacko. Plus it's a majority vote, I never once made a decision by myself in our league.

See, this is the downside of being a commish, everyone thinks you cheat. I've been staying as far away as possible from our league. I don't think I've visited our page in the last two weeks. Ed.s52, if you'd like for me to "cheat", I can just take the majority vote and make all the decisions for myself. Come on now.
This is true. Last year I was commish of my Big Money League. Ended up winning and people were calling me out as a cheater. It's tough being on top and on top.

Hope you guys don't accuse me of anything dirty when I take you behind the woodshed in my league.

Here are two stories that have caught my eye.

Steven Jackson is reportedly looking good(read he's up to 240lbs.). However, not only does St.Louis plan on playing him in their pre-season opener(don't know why) but Action Jackson has battled a good number of injuries over the years. We all know he's one of the few true feature RBs left but his supporting cast is poor to put it nicely. Anyone feeling good about him this year?

The guy with the best name in the league, Legedu Naanee is reportedly going to be the starting WR opposite Malcolm Floyd. He'll be playing in a well-oiled machine of an offense and Rotoworld suggests he has the best hands on the team.

Ofcourse he's going to look good when practicing/playing, he's Stephen "freakin" Jackson. But I just can't see him staying on the field and scoring relevant TD amounts. He is being drafted late first round which is exactly where he should be drafted.

Another story that coincides with the Naanee one. CBS is quoting the North County Times saying that Gates has been taking snaps as a wide receiver.
Don't look now, but the Chargers have been using TE Antonio Gates as a receiver during some of their practices. Gates has lined up flexed out of the traditional tight end spot before, but with the team's bulk of tight ends and lack of effective receivers, there's a real shot Gates will find himself lined up outside more often than normal. "Our package is so difficult that teams are going to have to pick their poison and decide what they want to do," Gates told the North County Times. "Not only can you move me out to receiver, but you can do the same with Kris and Randy. That versatility makes us unpredictable, and it makes us dangerous."
I offered someone Jennings for Steven Jackson in the espn league of this forum, but I don't know if that would be a smart trade. I love Jackson. But I don't trust him. And his team is so bad. And he takes such a beating.

Dude that guy does not exist. I typed him in rotoworld search and he doesn't exist haha. I googled him though and espn said it would take an injury or something freak to happen to Floyd or Jackson for him to be any fantasy value. So on that note he has a chance. Bad news is, Merrimen is signing with the Chargers. Which means Jackson might too

Agreed about Jackson. Sad to see his talent basically go to waste in St.Louis.

He's got a long way to go before he's Gates but I'm hoping the Ravens split Ed Dickson some out wide tomorrow night.

On another note, former NFL tackle-leader D'Qwell Jackson could miss 4-8 weeks. He would've been an above-average IDP option.

First rule. Just because its Aso or Revis, don't draft them. They do not score many points because nobody throws it their way.

LBs generally score you the most points, especially the ones that are versatile, like Patrick Willis. You want guys that get a good mix of tackles, sacks and INTs. So you don't necessarily want a LB that just sacks guys. Guys that get a lot of tackles give you the best opportunities for fumbles and INTs.

Basically you get set amount of points for tackles, FF, Interceptions, TDs, sacks and safeties.

Where do you guys read up on how these guys are doing? Most times fantasy reports are for offensive side of the ball. Thanks for your help.

Not only that. Is there specific defenses that produce better IDP players? I'd imagine the 4 3 is better overall for this type of play

Sites like Rotoworld give info on all NFL players. ESPN has an IDP column called "D Up!" by Jim McCormick which I like as well.

4-3 MLBs are always good but you have two 3-4 MLBs who are elite options in Patrick Willis and David Harris.
