so who shined tonight and who didnt?
Clayton looked good,Cody also looked very good,Paul Kruger looked better then last season,Miller had some nice returns, and Cary Williams laid some hits
Our backups didn't look to good imo,I will chalk up the RB fumbles to the rain, our O-line looked horrid

I've always believed that we lack depth at the O line and tonight proved just that.
Agreed. The back-up o-line made the Panthers look like amazing.

I think Cary Wiliiams and Cody shined.

Neither backup QB or line depth looked good. Like I said I will reserve my judgment until game 3 of the preseason.

All I got from the game was.

Offense will be elite. Joe: 120 yards in a quarter and some? Excellent.

Offensive line lacks depth.

Outside Cary Williams, Zibby, and Landry, the secondary is shaky.

Cody and Dickson were excellent draft choices so far.

Dickson, Cody, Prince, Ramon Harewood, Cary Williams and Zibikowski were all standouts. Dickson was really good at receiver, Cody's endurance was tested with the amount of playing time he saw tonight, yet he still made tons of plays.

Princes run on that return was spectacular. It's the type of play that could mark the beginning of a really good career, like TD in the 95 preseason on the special teams hit. Zibby showed tremendous motor. And I think it's a real shame that Cary is suspended the first two games because we might be missing some of the plays that he was able to make tonight.

Fisher had good coverage on a play but the ball was tipped up and the WR was able to reel it in. I also remember him coming up pretty well on a run play.

He didn't look great but wasn't terrible in my opinion either.

Doug Dutch didn't look as bad as I thought he would.

He made some nice plays.

one thing that shined for me was doug dutch. He may not have been dynamic as williams but you gotta admit he played pretty decent seeing as he just came off the redskins practice squad a week ago. I was highly dissapointed by chris hawkins though. For the resume he had i expected a little more from him

I think with Cary(after the two games), Fisher, and Carr, I think our secondary will be better than people think.

Yep. He tackled a WR at the line on a screen attempt and was routinely close to his man when tested down-field.

The secondary played better then I though they would but specially without steve smith you are playing against one of the worst passing offenses in the league, With steve smith they are a different team.

Oh yeah, I forgot Barnes.

We talk so much about him being a pass rush specialist, but what a job he did in run support. He was in on at least three tackles in the running game and showed good pursuit.

So was Mcgahee used to be shown off for trade bate or what? Where was Rice?
The team didn't want to risk Rice getting hurt. We'll see what happens but I just don't think Willis will be traded.

We dont want Rice to get hurt. McClain got carries because he was itching for them, so they gave it to him and he did alright.

I'm still not convinced about our secondary. I dont care how well they played against a crappy passing offense. The numbers look good, but two big pass plays were called back for holding. I still think we need to make a defensive back acquisition.

Clayton definitely showed he deserves a roster spot, and the 3rd receiver title.

Prince Miller showed he has potential as a DB and punt returner.

Cody was a huge force the entire game. Good to see he to last that long in his first, fast paced NFL game.

Was I one of the only fans to notice Barnes' hustle? I swear, he was an inch away from a sack on a number of plays and was surprisingly stout against the run. And if Cody can tackle DeAngelo Williams and his back-up with only 1 arm, I'm curious to see what he would do if given a chance to wrap up.

3 Most impressive players in PS game 1

1.) Terrance Cody - looked like a ngata clone stopping the run and even doing some QB pursuing

2.) Cary Williams - Played almost the entire game and actually plays the ball and the reciever.

3.) Prince Miller - Showed some good moves in KR and played well in the secondary.

The best news...They're all defensive players :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

On a side note, this may be one of the worst preseason games I been to because of the rain ... and the terrible terrible concession stand people.
Doug Dutch actually played quite well. I watched him on six consecutive plays and the thing I noticed that he does well is his awareness. He's watching the ball yet he keeps with his guy. Something that's always been an issue with our CBs. I'm sick of the guys that watch the WR too much and have no idea where the ball is and they pay for it.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of Doug Dutch in an expanded role.

The guy playing opposite of Dutch, Hawkins looked bad. He watched the QB, but lost his man too often.

I have to say that I was a Cody hater before the draft. But so far he's impressed me during training camp and PS Game 1. He definitely has the drive, which I hope he keeps. He even has that Raven's "motor".

And they lined him us a FB.

I'm starting to like this kid more and more.

The lady was taking for-fickin-ever to pour a beer which held up the whole line. Then they had no more pizza left so my friend had to stand there and wait for-frickin-ever. It's like they take their good ole time doing whatever.
