[Blogs] ‘Surprised’ If Ravens Don’t Trade For CB

121 posts in this topic

Rodgers Cromartie, Malcolm Jenkins, Leon Hall, all good young corners that their teams would have interest in McGahee and or Gaither. Older corners are slowing down and will only play for a few more years, we need young corners that will play for another 10 for us. McGahee has been one of my favorite players since his college years and I would hate to loose him but a corner is a huge need and I think this is the only position I would ever give up one of my favorite players for.

bmorebang52- oh, come on! None of their teams would give up those corners for mcgahee! It's not as if they're trying to get rid of them!

Leon Hall is within our division, I doubt that would happen.

I think Parmele/ Lawrence could come in and play VERY well if Willis were to go elsewhere.

We don\'t give Jacksonville a pick for Mathis, they give us one. Del Rio is on the hot seat and what\'s he going to do when Garrard goes 2-6

Again, trading McGahee would be stupid. He was our highest TD scorer last year, and with more touches, we could easily have two 1000+ yd. RBs on this team. The guy is still a stud, when he's healthy. You don't trade a pro bowl RB just because you don't have pro bowl CBs. If our pass rush is aggressive, even average CBs will look good.

The current CB situation is as dire as any position situation in the history of The Ravens. Travis Fisher has absolutely no business being on the Ravens 53 man roster, let alone starting and Chris Carr is a nickle at best. Speaking of Carr, Harbs has not fully disclosed Chris Carr's status, and that is troubling. Right now, some team's #4 corner is better than our current #1. I think everyone gets the picture and it's not pretty right now.

Personally, I would love to trade for one of Buffalo's corners (McGee, McKelvin, Florence). At this point, we should all graciously accept help from wherever it comes. Realistically, we are going to end up with the best #3 corner Ozzie, Decosta, Harbaugh and co. can trade for. Acquiring a good #3 will be a huge upgrade, considering players are currently lining up with the 1's and 2's who would be practice squad guys on most teams. I expect the trade to be made sometime around week 3 or 4 in the pre-season. I will be as happy as a pig in mud (and relieved) when Ozzie and company get it done.

the saints have a quality RB in pierre thomas and 2 quality tackles in bushrod and stinchcomb, plus jenkins is slow and not really an upgrade, leon hall is in our divison are you high??, and no way the cards get up DRC for an aging rb or tackle with injury problems, get off the madden logic dude this is almost as bad as people calling for revis and nnamdi - also a 10 year starter at corner is a very extreme rarity you need to do some research man

Let's send a place kicker and a running back to NY jets for one of their top 3 corners and a draft pick.
COME - ON - PEOPLE. This is absolutely dumb, so they're going to give up a guy that if we wanted we could have traded for in cromartie, a guy they took in the first round for a reason in kyle wilson, (still wish we had taken him when we had the chance, not that it was a bad move at all gettin what we got) or the best corner in football for a running back they DON'T NEED (shonne green/LT/joe mcknight) a KICKER, and THEN you want a pick TOO???? GOD my tolerance is waning what are you smoking??? that trade wouldn't even go through in madden!!! please people THINK before you type this is absolutely horrible and shows absolutely no football business logic

Why do we just assume, now, that we need a corner that the price of all elite corners in the league is going to fall?

Whichever team we're trying to trade with would hold all the cards resulting in a poor trade for us. We're not in a position where we can say "You'll take what we're offering for your elite corner and like it."

We may be able to get a bargain for a disgruntled corner, like Rashean Mathis, but then you have to pay the man. We have too many of our own players coming up for contract renewal to go out and pick up another massive contract.

yes hawaii i could use a hug, i love to be on here and have good football talk with people but it seems more and more people who have no idea what they are talking about are using madden logic with this whole CB situation, give it to clutch said it spot on, whoever we were dealing with would hold all of the leverage, i still say give tryouts to guys like fred smoot and bring lucas back in for another try, see what we can find for a temp fix while webb is coming back to 100%

A trade for Mcgahee for a good corner sounds like a good idea here is why. McClain once more carries and he should get them a player with that much talent at a selfless job should be pacified. I hope we can keep this guy next year every time i see McClain lined up at tailback i get excited and so does he.Mcgahee is a great back but he is getting paid to much to be a back up. Yes i kno what if rice goes down well what if this what if that its a good gamble. Furthermore our offense has plenty of weapons we have transformed in to a passing team in a matter of a year. I believe we have too much talent at tight end i would like to see pitta and dickson see alot of playing time so i would even like to see heap traded either this season or next. The bottom line is nobody wants gaither and we despreatly need a corner.

webb is solid and as soon as he is back he will prove he is the ravens top cb. and we should try to set up a deal to get a guy like Quentin Jammer or Rashean Mathis

I agree with BoominRaven and Give it to Clutch Clayton (Even though Clayton's not as clutch as u think he is...lol!) I think the Ravens aren't gonna make any moves at the CB position until maybe about the 3rd or 4th preseason game. But they aren't gonna go out and trade 4 some top big name CB and pick up another huge salary 2 pay. Even though this is an uncapped year, We still have 2 plan 4 the future! I think Harbs and the FO are gonna let the preseason dictate what decision they're gonna make. We haven't even played 1 game and every is already doubting our CB's! Atleast give the chance 2 prove themselves in real game action b4 we all start jumping out there saying that they aren't good enough. When Webb comes back, I believe he'll be our #1 CB and he'll play well. Washington and Carr were doing a good job towards the end of last season and with Harris's experience, he could be a huge suprise 4 us. Remember, he was a former probowler himself. I think we shoulda got somebody a little younger like Lucas or Springs. All in all, just give our guys a chance 2 prove themselves because it seems that everybody has already lost confidence in our DB's! GO RAVENS!!!

if the ravens do not make a good move on getting some good corner backs this year, look for them going 8-8 and out of the playoffs and losing games by the scores of 40 to 45.

Yeah Boom you are on point. Alot of members or people in general will say stupid things like "get Revis or Nnamdi!", it's like come on now this isn't a fantasy team where you can pick up a big name player at will, but people can and will dream. I agree %100 that the only way to pick up a CB is to give them a tryout, as much as people want to hear it Frank Walker may have an advantage over all of the FA corner's out there because he's been in the system, i wouldn't be surprised to see Harbaugh favoring his return.

It's like an all-or-nothing philosophy. Either we get the one of the best names in football at CB or we do nothing and be garbage.

Why can't we just talk about bringing a serviceable guy at CB in.

I would love to see Darrelle Revis in a Ravens uniform, maybe in the future, but not this year. We can still give up a few draft picks for a decent corner in the league, like Rashean Mathis or Charles Tillman, but definitely not Champ Bailey.

We need just 1 lockdown corner...

For those of you who say what IS and/or ISN'T possible (Revis, Aomugah, another top teir corner) <no reason to be rude> ! Anything is possible, and I for one hope we can pull of a Revis trade!

Ravens fans its not too far fetched, I'm sure at some point the Jets will listen to offers if this hold out continues. They are currently grooming Kyle Wilson to start in Revis place. ED REED doesn't even know if/when he will even play this year, and it is also unknown how well Webb (Who only has 4 starts as a starter), and Washington (Who is FAR from being a lock-down corner) will bounce back after MAJOR knee surgeries. Will they loose a step?

Question, if we draft a corner next year in the first round will he be as good as Revis?

I would offer up our next year's 1st round pick, and Gaither (who is in MY opinion demonstrating he is NOT a Raven)... Contracts can be structured and restructured to make it work. There will be players to resign (Ngata, JJ) and players freeing up extra money...

BOTTOM LINE! I WANT A CHAMPIONSHIP, AND NOTHING LESS IS!!! THE CURRENT SECONDARY NEEDS TWO STARTING CALIBER CORNERS!

BTW... I DONT PLAY MADDEN.

@KillaBirdTJ
AN ALL REVIS LOVERS
ITS NO WAY WE WILL GET REVIS, WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PAY HIM FOR ONE
SECOND, WE HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER THE JETS, WITHOUT ADDING OTHER HOLD TO THE TEAM. A McGahee, AND Gaither trade would not work, cause jets all ready have pleantly of RBS and a good RT better than gaithers. only way this would work is if the ravens will offer a 1st round pick and 2round, and 4 fourth.
GET REALISTIC
OUR BEST BET IS THE GET AN AVERAGE OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE cornback
One more thing McGahee doesnt have much trade vaule, best we could get for him is a fourth round pick, his old and there are a bunch of RB IN THE NFL
