[Blogs] ‘Surprised’ If Ravens Don’t Trade For CB

121 posts in this topic

@IrishTrain21- I like your first option, mckiney, hale, and cousins for bailey though we'd probably have to add a 2nd or 3rd round pick to the mix. Mckinney is a good pass rusher for a lineman and they need pass rushers since dumervil is probably out for the season.

it wouldnt be worth giving up hale though he's a starting calibur lineman who can plug in at guard center or even right tackle if he had to, we need to keep cousins as well we really gotta have depth at tackle knowing gaither has had injury problems even tho hes a great tackle

I don`t see where we are weak at oline chester is solid back up who could probably start on a few teams and cousins has been gettin alot of reps hale isn`t too shabby either and i`m pretty sure even though he is very raw (barring injury) harewood will become the right tackle in a couple years..The more i think of it any 2 from the Bills that i mentioned before would be nice because once our guys start returning from injury they`ll be nice nickel and dime guys

Instead of looking at players we can’t offered like Revis or Nnamdi… I would” try” and trade one of are LB’s (we have to many) and a pick to Buffalo for Jairus Byrd! The kid is amazing.
I also think giving Frank Walker another chance is like putting your hand in fire! Again!!

BoominRaven- Exactly. I would be happy to trade away even clayton or d. will though I'd probably be more happy to trade away d. will. We need ellerbe and barnes more than ever with kindle's injury. Barnes will certainly get more playing time with his pass rushing ability and ellerbe has already proven to be a good run stopper.

Adriano- Byrd is a safety. We have enough depth at safety even with reed out with the improving zibby, former pro bowler hamlin, and the returning nakamura. But I do agree frank walker is a no no!

jairus byrd is a free safety not a corner dude, terrence mcgee and leodis mckelvin are their 1 and 2 corners - also byrd is the best talent on that team it'd probably be just as hard and impossible to get him as it would be to get a revis or nnamdi, he's their only chance at a bright future right now lol

all these people lobbying for Revis and Nnamdi. . . even if we were to get either one of these guys are we going to be able to pay Webb anything near where their contract will be in the next couple years

Parmele can be aa potential trade option. He showed sparks both in last preseason and last season. The KR position can be filled by someone- David Reed, etc.

Let\'s just get one thing straight. Maybe I\'m restating the obvious but we need another proven cb. Not another chris hawkins. Carr is a nickel back- he won\'t be able to match up with th big WRS from Cincy. They tower over him. if a trade is not availabe, why not bring in Smoot or Lucas

I say try to attempt a trade with Jacksonville for Rashean Mathis (he's unhappy with his current contract) or Marcus Trufant of Seattle (same scenario) both are very good corners and both are on bad teams who could use young solid building blocks for the future in maybe a gooden or a young o-lineman and possibly a future draft pick.

This is interesting, because I said on another blog that it would make sense for the Ravens too look into a trade with Denver. They've lost RB's and Dumervil, two positions we have talent at.

without Gaither i really dont like how our o line loads up.. yeah cousins and a few others are getting more reps while JG is out, but they are no where near the quality that JG plays at.. maybe in a year or two Harewood could be an acceptable RT, but he's too unpolished right now.. i dont think we need a bunch of o-line penalties this year.. as for these rediculous ideas of trading for Asomugha or Revis, go back to playing Madden, its not going to happen.. if it does ill eat my shorts.. but until then, those are corner stones in those franchises... you dont trade away your cornerstone unless there is no other option.. it would be like the ravens trading away ray lewis..a very dumb idea for those teams.. and undead al seems to have finally woken up so Asomugha is out indefinately

I dont see why people look past Champ Bailey in Denver.. Denver is hurting in numerous places. Hes one of the better options (talent vs. cost)out there..

who is there to trade for...that will actually make enough of an impact to HELP our CB corps
[/quote]

You could package any of the young LB's except for Barnes and Ellerbe; (RB) Parmalee and 3rd or 4th round pick to the Broncos for Bailey. Meets their needs and ours without losing too much. They get a young LB with some fresh experienced legs.

there might be more options on the market after first round of cuts; agree to all of ya saying we should give some cb veterans another shot before trading good players to help other teams; but if these players won't make our rooster than...

Trade mcgahee and a late round pick while he has this much value one more year he may not have the same trade value we have rice as feature, powerhouse mcclain ,and curtis steele is tearing it up in camp we keep our three headed monster all young rb,s and sure up our secondary problem solved!

McGahee for Bailey makes a lot of sense for both teams really. The Broncos have a stable of young DBs and are really lacking in the RB department. Enter Willis, who scored 14TDs last season and would enjoy being a #1 RB in the league again. Champ Bailey, on the other hand is still a shut down corner and probably #3 after Aso and Revis. Bailey has 1 year remaining on his deal and is slated to make 9.5 mil this season. Willis I think is around 6.8 so its about a 3 mil increase plus bonuses but gives the Ravens a legit shut down corner for the playoffs and the season. They could instead deal Antwan Barnes for Andre Goodman from Denver if they wanted to be cheap about it but Bailey for McGahee makes a lot of sense on both sides of the trade. One thing is certain, a trade for a CB is imminent and I would do it soon before injuries potentially derail this thing. McGahee for Bailey...get it done Ozzie. Also, it pacifies McClain4RB who then becomes our goal line back, but won't vulture quite as many TDs as Willis. Its simple math. We are deep at RB and painfully shallow at starting CBs. Make the deal and the Ravens become a Super Bowl favorite.

The Backups we got are good enough to step up..hamlin n company..these guys want to be a part of this..don't sell them short. Other teams gave up on these guys so they might just amp it up a notch..ray will have them pumped up in time..

malcolm jenkins???????? throw that idea into the dump with the revis and asomogha ideas. Parmele and a 3rd rounder for Champ? Better, much better but I think Parmele and a 2nd rounder is more feasible.

The Backups we got are good enough to step up. No, no they are not. Hamlin n company..these guys want to be a part of this..don't sell them short. Safeties look good, Landry and Zibby will be your starters. We are talking corner backs. Other teams gave up on these guys so they might just amp it up a notch..ray will have them pumped up in time. It doesn't work like that we can't rely on potential and motivation in a Super Bowl year we need to bring in proven talent.

touchdownwins- our starting cbs as of now aren't good enough- washington and carr. The Wrs in Cincy tower over Carr and will make him mincemeat. Washington might be fast but lacks great coverage skills. Our best corner was Webb and he's injured and uncertain he will be back wk 1. Look, I thought our cbs were good enough before fox- an impoving cb was placed on IR and walt harris- an aquired former PBer was also placed on IR

As long as it\'s not McGahee, I\'m fine with a trade. That would be disastrous, and stupid. We need to keep Willis around for a long, long time. He\'s always been a hard player. And anyone who says we should trade Willis, I\'m sorry, is an idiot. If you really think that Rice can carry the load himself, you\'re a fool. McClain is a tough runner, but who\'s going to block for him

Ravens_Flock - I hope that post is a sarcastic one. Willis has a year left on his contract and will be gone next year because he costs so much. He is a very good back to Rice but the Ravens would be much better served improving their secondary and sacrificing some of their RB depth. This isn\'t 2000 we actually have receivers now too besides a RB. And if I may put it in such childish terms as you did... anybody who thinks McGahee as a RB is more beneficial to this team then Bailey as a CB would be is an idiot. And who blocks for McClain

Mcgahee should be used a lot more this season. He's more of a bruiser compared to Rice who's the speedster. That's why Rice struggled against faster defenses like cincy and indy. I thought mcgahee should've been used a lot more in the divisional playoff game. Point is, this guy still has juice left in him and shouldn't be traded.

And who blocks for McClain??The FB getting Rave reviews Mike McLaughlin) it also allows Steele or Parmele to step into the 3rd RB role. Its not rocket science people.
