Why Ranking Players Is Important.

So I did a 14-team mock on Yahoo a little while ago but after making my pick in Round 9, I had to run so I clicked the auto-pick box and left the computer. Here's what the computer did for me. The picks the CPU made are in bold:

1. Frank Gore (SF - RB)
2. Miles Austin (Dal - WR)
3. Jonathan Stewart (Car - RB)
4. Michael Crabtree (SF - WR)
5. Mike Wallace (Pit - WR)
6. Joe Flacco (Bal - QB)
7. Marion Barber (Dal - RB)
8. Fred Jackson (Buf - RB)
9. Chris Cooley (Was - TE)
10. David Akers (Phi - K)
11. Indianapolis (Ind - DEF)
12. Vince Young (Ten - QB)
13. Demetrius Williams (Bal - WR)
14. Sam Hurd (Dal - WR)
15. Jerramy Stevens (TB - TE)

I can deal with Akers, Indy's D and VY but the others... :lol3:

Haha! I'm sure you can deal with Akers, but in the 10th? Vince Young isn't a bad pick there, but that's unbelievable that they gave you Williams, Hurd and Stevens, all projected undrafted players by a long shot. Maybe Yahoo knows something about our WR's above D-Will, Dallas' WR's above Hurd and Kellen Winslow that we don't :th_204070:

Not sure why Yahoo feels kickers are so important and I don't see Demetrius, Hurd and Stevens getting 100 points among them, even in PPR formats.

That is bad. Ranking players is very important, especially on yahoo.

Plus a lot of the guys that you may like, are buried deeper than they should be. Like Cadillac.

I think the Yahoo ranking system is based on last years numbers as soon you're outsixde the top 70 or 80 players... That means that a lot of kickers are ranked there, as they get more fantasy points then the average back-up receiver or rb... So basically the ranking isn't value based but production based... I'll bet that Donte Stallworth went undrafted in this mock, even though Demetrius was drafted in the 13th round... When I found Stallworth during a recent draft, he was ranked 2000+... Which to me is a stretch with both D-will and Clayton in the top 200's...

The ranking at yahoo is just plain crazy...
