well its a sad day in my madden franchise. Ray Lewis has retired at the age of 38 after playing for 17 seasons in the NFL. Thankfully I drafted a young Ray Lewis esce linebacker the year before. Hes got like 93 speed and 80 some awareness, with 99 hit power and 90 some tackling, but hes only 5'-11" so that may hinder him some.

Had a good draft though. Drafted a Ed Reed replacement, a CB who could start in a year, a RT (Gaither wanted way way to much money to resign him so I let hom go), another starting WR, and some Dline depth and oline depth. So all in all I have maybe 4-5 out of 7 guys who could be starters in a year or two. 2-3 are starters now.

Oh and Flacco just got a monster pay check. I signed him for 7 years at 112 million with 45 or 46 million guaranteed.
Did he demand that much? That's as high as you can pay isn't it? I think I'd consider letting him go if the only other option was to spend $15-20M a year on him.

Well I play on all-pro, and have been destroying teams. I have thrown for close to 5000-7000 yrds. Hes 27 years old and already has 25,000 some passing yrds, hes had like 100 some TDs per season, been to consecutive pro bowls. I guess you could say I made him into the peyton manning of the ravens. I really need to adjust my sliders, lol. Theres no way I would let him go the way he plays he has a 93 rating.

Well one of my goals besides winning games in farnchise, is trying to break the NFL records set by the players before. To me it provides a added challenge.

Yeah I like to do that with the good players I bring through. The only one that really bothers me with current Ravens players is that I like to try to get Reed to the top of the all-time interceptions list before he retires.

getting on the int lists is hard. I was trying to get Foxworth on the most ints in a season. I think he ended up with 10 and the record was 12 :(

Well this may help. Make sure that Foxworth is your #1 CB. When the computer is in a 3 or 4 WR set, it actually only runs a select number of plays, most of which send their #1 WR on a 9 route. I would recommend using either the Dime or Dollar (My preferred choice) coverages. Take the strong safety and shade either the RB or the WR moving into the flats, leaving Foxworth on an island with no Safety help. In most cases, the computer will recognize the favorable match-up and take a shot downfield. However, the QB will typically underthrow the pass just a bit, giving you enough time to switch to Foxworth, strafe, and user pick it. I traded for Brandon Flowers and had 6 INTs in 1 game a few days back. The only issue with this strategy is that for some stranger reason, the computer may still choose the flats even with the double coverage, giving your Nickel or Dime CB the INT. So this doesn't guarantee the results you're looking for, but may expedite the process.

That's quite the strategy there, Truth :D
All I do to get picks is have my coverage back off in longer yardage situations and then send a linebacker or two plus the dline in at the QB. If im user-controlling one of the LBs, I can get to the QB, or near the QB fast enough to make him throw. At that point the receivers are reaching the corners and the ball is usually underthrown so the corners can be user controlled to jump the route and get a pick.

Thanks. That's a good plan, and is practically what I do in user matches. As long as the crossing routes are accounted for, there's usually no places to go. Do you have a PS3 or 360, by the way?

I have a 360. And the crossing routes are killers. Especially the quick slants. I get burned and do some burning with those :)

What console do you play on?

Damn. PS3. True though. With man coverage, you can pretty much live and die by the slant, post and drag routes.

Yeah what I love to do is use a 4 WR set and hot route the two inside WRs to run slants and the two outside receivers to run streaks. The safeties will slide towards the outside receivers and the middle of the field is wide open.

Pretty solid gameplan. What I use against man coverage in user matches are delay routes and the pre-snap motion drag route. The pre-snap motion works very effectively because it prevents the CB from jamming the WR, so it ensures a clean release, and because it's a drag route, the WR is usually open for at least an easy 5 yard gain. The delay routes are also critical because the opposing CPU player freezes for a second before realizing the change in its assignment, allowing your player to gain about at least 2 or 3 yards of separation. It works best with RBs, since they usually have a speed advantage against the LBs sent to cover them.

The drag is a great route. I use it in a 4WR set and send the other players on streaks, pulling the coverage way back and creating free space for the WR/RB running the drag.

Yes, definitely. I also like the drag route because if the defender is on the WRs tail, barring a collapsed pocket, it gives you some time to change his route on the go using the playmaker. So do you play Online often?

Who's Creating the Rookies from the 2011 Draft Class and putting them into the game on their respective teams?

I have already started by making a few top prospects just waiting for the Draft to see where players go and I'll re-arrange the roster so the players are on their respective teams.

I get bored of the Franchise. Personally, I prefer the Superstar mode. Nothing beats having 30 INTs and 20 sacks per Season lol

Superstar mode would be better if Supersim didn't allow 3 Special Teams TDs per game.
Also, it would be better if when you play a defensive player the offense could put up more than 10-14 points per game. Frankly, a lot of things could be better in Superstar mode...

Just Had a GREAT game between the Ravens & Steelers. Let's see if this reminds anyone of a certain game...

Early on it's your typical Ravens-Steelers game, Steelers led early 7 to 0, eventually I'm able to find Torrey Smith down the field for a TD to make it 7 to 7. Next possession I again get a TD with Torrey Smith making it 14 to 7. Again I score with Rice on a rushing TD, Steelers get a FG making it 21 to 10.

I start to get conservative, only able to get another FG while the Steelers answered with 14 points, and eventually tied the game by getting a TD, and on the kickoff David Reed fumbles, Steelers recover and take it back for 6. The score was 24 to 24 with under 2 minutes left. I drove down the field, was able to make the Steelers use all their timeouts, Billy Cundiff kicked a FG as time expired and I won 27 to 24.

Torrey Smith Stats:

4 REC 2 TD 121 Yards
