I said if they respect me I'll respect them. I responded to a post from some guy saying he hats us ratbirds.. I said I hate fans like you because I wanna talk to a Steeler fan who won't cuss me out.. I was called a **** bout 30 times..

Well considering the amount of conversations I've had with steelers fans I'd say that went pretty well.

That's generally why we don't venture into enemy territory; they're not as respectful as we are to visiting fans. Sometimes, it's like talking to a wall, even when you try to inject reason into the conversation. That's the nature of fanhood. Our environment, more or less, is why Warden was a mainstay for so long and still posts on occasion. Same with our resident Browns fan, the aptly-named BrownsFan. We don't really have a resident Bengals fan anymore, but not like it matters much, we're not trying to create an army of visiting fans here.

That's a good point. Have you guys ever thought about installing a "Smack Talk" section? Not that I think it would be a good idea, but it would definitely get a lot of frustrations out.

Yeah it's amazing how in any conversion about the Ravens, comments and message boards Steelers fans still talk about something that happened 10 years ago. I mean I wonder how many names someone would be called if someone went in there and started talking about a certain Quarterback and his issues would they defend him and find excuses to stick up for him.

That's why the only other Team Forum Board on I'm on is the Panthers, those people are very good to fans of other teams.

Eh, the Code of Conduct is pretty strict against smack-talk. It's been discussed, yes, but the cons of having one outweigh the pros. This is the official site and has to be kept to a higher standard.

The only time I remember EVER seeing Bengals fans on here was week 9 last year right before they played us a second time. There were loads of them, but they all just came and went.

There used to be a resident Bengals fan at the end of the 2008 season, but he left. Shame, because he was probably the most respectful Bengals fan I've ever seen, even going so far as to concede how bad his team was at the time.

Other than the PG-light board that Mod2 referred to, the other logic is that there are plenty (and I mean [i]plenty[/i]) of other Ravens message boards with even more fans that allow trash-talk. Though we have a large membership in our own right (and one that's growing more and more with every winning season), the Ravens prefer this community to be much more pleasant than one that attracts the smack-talkers. It's not just about image, but about presenting a brand and a product that appeals to a broader audience. And even though there [i]are[/i] people that enjoy light smack talk (myself included, on occasion), more people are inclined to frequent a site that is friendly than one that has any aggressive or confrontational behavior.

Oh yea, I remember him. He was very nice. I dont really think he hated the Ravens, he just loved the Bengals.

For the record, SF USED to be the best Steelers site on the web. But its owner gave us all the shaft so we had a mass exodus of the place and our mods started a new site. JonM is a member over there.

I dont trust any steelers fan. Where I live its a bunch of the "humble" type. They are nice to your face giving kudos but when you turn your back they are talking trash and very disrespectful, thats why I stay close to the nest

There are only a handful of Steeler fans that I know and amazingly they are great people. Oddly enough 2 of them are from Maryland and have never really lived in Pittsburgh.

There's just some things I'll just never get... Steelers fans being one of those things.

First let me say I have Steelers fans as friends. I was at a birthday party with the group last weekend where my children showed up in their Flacco and Lewis jerseys and were well received. (Of course I've had their children in my house in Superbowl championship shirts as well, no big deal). We had a great time and I enjoyed the conversation on the new season. Everyone respected one another. That is what I have experienced with the Steeler fans I know personally. Having said that, I have looked at the Steeler message board a few times and I'm not at all shocked by how your were received. Read over it, often they aren't even nice to one another! Let alone even begin to tolerate a Raven fan. While it may be a fun read, no way I'd ever consider posting there.

Haha yea. They are so overrated its not even funny. Im thinking an 8-8 or 9-7 season. 10-6 at best.
