We get it Landry, you can hit hard, just ease up on the starters though, haha.

That is when he actually makes contact, which isn't quite often if we're going by last year's standards.
Come the end of the season, I expect we will be praising Landry.
I don't; I think Landry will play alongside Zbi while Ed is down, but once Reed returns, I definitely think Tom is going to keep his starting job.

Since when was Tom the starting SS? Landry has had the position locked down since he got here. Zibby will play for Ed and when Ed comes back Zibby goes back to the bench and Ed and Landry will patrol the field. Don't know where you got Tom being the Starter at SS but Landry has always been the starter.

Edit: Since when did a Landry conversation take over a thread about Mason's injury?

It is a good question that someone asked, who is taking Mason's spot, but it does give the young WRs on our team a chance to show what they can do while Mase is hurt.

I'm not sure I understand why you're so confident in saying that Landry will just be handed the role for the year; Reed is going to be down for a few months, and if Tom outplays Landry, there's no reason to keep marching Dawan out there, especially considering his performance last year.

Come our first defensive possession against New York in September, I believe Zbi is going to be starting alongside Landry, no? That is, unless you think Hamlin is going to seize the day. If Zbi does win the position in camp, then he will be a starter, irrespective of the fact that he may not have been with a healthy Reed. From there, I think Landry will play himself out of a job and Tom will stay on the field when Ed comes back.

Lucky it doesn't sound serious. Man I'm on edge coming home every day, check the website holding my breath... these injuries are nerve wracking!

Landry is a SS
Zibby is a FS

Landry didnt have the best season last year, this is true, but he came off of a neck injury. Hes throwing out hits to whoever comes his way now. He knocked McGahees tooth out for crying out loud. I wouldnt be so quick to judge. I don't see Zibby taking Landry out of his spot. Especially when they will be playing both safety roles when the season starts.

The interchangeability of those two "positions" is much greater than you may think, especially for someone like Zbi who is built more like a strong safety than a free safety anyway.

Not only could Tom play the SS role if conditioned to, but more to the point, I think Landry is going to play himself out of the starting role, and so unless Hamlin or Ruki step up, which I personally doubt, I think Tom will adapt to being more of a SS with Ed being the obvious FS.

I think that if Landry disappoints like I think he will, they're neither going to keep him on the field nor throw in Ken Hamlin just because of a technical distinction in sub-positions.

Mason will be back when he can. There's no point in rushing him back. He knows this offense inside and out and can afford to miss a few days to get completely healthy.

well since Mase is nursing his ankle.....who moved to the 1st team to will the 3WR spot in the meantime?

They moved Clayton to replace Mason, I imagine they like Stallworth at the slot and feel Clayton is a poor boys replica of Mason.

Mason was back on the field today and said should be 100 % by tomorrow,so yeah crisis over lol
And on top of that I heard he made a spectacular leaping catch for a Flacco long bomb.

According to the twitter feeds from the home page Mason is icing his knee after today's practice. Mason confirmed that it wasn't too serious and he would have returned if it were a game. Hopefully nothing serious and hopefully it wasn't due to the new turf.

Harper has to prove it in preseason, though. I remember in one game how he had three missed opportunities last year; he dropped a pass over the middle on third down, short-armed a long bomb that would've gone for a TD, and dropped a wide-open TD catch. He redeemed himself by reeling in one long bomb for a TD that was meant specifically to build his confidence, but he never capitalized thereafter. He's got to step up when given opportunities, especially if the coaching staff is intentionally feeding him the ball on certain plays to see if he'll respond when called upon.

Mark Clayton is making too much money for us to cut him and keep Harper. Not to mention Clayton has way more NFL experience. I go to Virginia Tech (where Harper went) and he wasn't too spectacular. He always flashed potential but never consistently, even in college. If someone was to get hurt, I'm much more confident in Clayton starting than throwing Justin Harper out there having no idea how he'll do.
