Ravens and Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) Dissolve Partnership

23 posts in this topic
MASN will no longer be the “official cable network” for the Ravens.

The regional cable network and the Ravens were unable to reach an agreement, which ends a partnership that began in 2006, Ravens president Dick Cass confirmed Monday. A source at MASN had told The Baltimore Sun last week that the sides were having trouble striking another deal.
Im pretty sure WJZ will still have the games in the Baltimore Area.

So, How will people that don't live in the Baltimore Area Be able to see the Games? Besides Game 1 that is on ESPN. Alot of people including me dont get WJZ down here, and my Directv doesn't have Local channels.

RUMOR is, CSN may pick it up. They recently made Baltimore there own Sports website, CSNBaltimore.com. They may open up a Televised version and open up to the Baltimore Market.

MASN played the games live last year. NFL network tends to replay them a day later

This not only includes Ravens preseason broadcasts, but all of Ravens-related programming, including One Winning Drive, The John Harbaugh Show, and Ravens Report, among others.

WBAL-11 will continue to broadcast the other three preseason games locally (the first one is carried by ESPN nationally, WJZ-13 locally), but the Ravens are exploring other options for airing in secondary markets. Additionally, it's unlikely that stations like WJZ or WBAL or WMAR would be able to carry the Ravens' ancillary programs in primetime because of contractual agreements.

Yeah they were live aired but I remember I had to catch replays MASN would have later on because I didn't have my friend the DVR yet.

How did you used to see the Raven preseason games down here in Delaware Franny?

If there wasn't a conflict with the Nationals or Orioles, I'd see Ravens preseason games up here in New Castle County. Never saw Redskins preseason games unless they were on a different night than the Ravens. Nationals and Orioles always take precedent over the Ravens here in New Castle County on MASN.

Otherwise, I'd go to a sports bar or watch off my good ol' antenna.

From my understanding this was more on MASN's side then the Ravens organization.
This is really bad news because I enjoyed watching the preseason games

I get all of the Baltimore channels and some of the Philadelphia channels, though I get WJZ-13 better than WBAL-11. It's frustrating when I want to watch Sunday Night Football in my room in HD and the picture suddenly cuts out and then comes back in at a whim. Mine's not outside on the roof, though; too lazy to get that thing out there. I just keep it on a windowsill.

It's annoying to watch any game on FOX in my room because I can't pick up FOX45 all that well. I dread it whenever the Ravens play on FOX.

lol I can get Fox45 perfectly, and WBOC. I get all the games on WBOC in CBS HD and it looks amazing, its better HD than my Directv Signal. Just not Preseason. I hope CSN picks up those Preseason games, or else, I cant see them. Hopefully if worse comes to worse I can get a online stream.

An online stream that, uh, we won't discuss here publicly. *cough* Even though Mike Duffy did make a vague allusion to such methods in one BR.com Q&A...

Well that's a bummer I love watching all those shows during the week. They must find a new home.

On a separate note, now that Anita Marks has been ousted from the Scott Garceau show, will she still have her "Anita's Fantasy Blitz" show on MASN or is that gone too.

I live in Maryland, yet I am in a secondary market, I hope they find a way to broadcast these games to us. It would be a pity if half of MD doesn't get to see the preseason games.

I live in NJ and my family orders MASN through Direct TV for Orioles and Ravens programming. We do watch regular season Ravens games through NFL Sunday Ticket, however. We were thrilled when Anita left the Scott Garceau show, but are now dissapointed to find that John Higgins has replaced the show from 4-7. Scott is only on for an hour now, and I am now assuming he will no longer be on at all. No Ravens Extra? This is difficult, for we used to celebrate our W's with the TV! In NJ, we can't celebrate with other fans by going to a sports bar or stopping at Quick Check for coffee, so we turn to MASN for this "fix". Please keep this thread updated if the Ravens organization comes to terms with another station.

Well, I moved to NC 4 years ago, and I have never seen the Ravens play on MASN, so I don't understand what the difference is. I can watch all of the Orioles games on MASN though.

I have Sunday Ticket as well. But we also order MASN. The difference is, there are shows on MASN that analyze Ravens game plans, players stats, etc. They help fans get their fix until Sunday comes. Ravens Xtra comes on after every Ravens game. If it was a game that was won, it is exciting to relive it with a first hand reaction and analysis and if the game was lost, having other fans to sulk with can help to ease the bruises.

Man I was coming on here to find out when all the extra shows come on so I can add the sports pack to my direct account.
I got it for the first time for free last year for an "anniversary present" from direct and didn't realize there were so many shows. Way more enjoyable after a W which was more often than not.

MASN is about b-more!

unfortunately i live in PG county now in days...so I need that MASN connection. B-more and DC are too close for Ravens's talkshows not be seen....this ain't philly and pittsburgh!

least all of maryland gets the away games....and the away games seem to be pretty big this yr so it's not too bad. AND the Ravens are about the post-season where all playoff games are televised.

if there's an important home game....I can hit up the greene turtle in laurel. Lot of ravens fans where there for the Patriots playoff game.
