Is this CB even good?
He's practice squad fodder. The team wasn't going to get much for Beck.

"When you get traded, another team is saying we want you," Beck said.

Great attitude. Hopefully Shanny can make something out of him in Washington. I guess Rex, nor Colt are impressing the staff?

Here is a quote I got out of NFLFanHouse " Dutch was actually recruited as a WR, played there until Sr. year, then moved to CB. He's undersized but can fly."

That's the problem. All free agent CB's have leverage with us right now. So working out a deal with any free agents will take longer than expected for the mere fact that we don't want to get hosed. The same goes for any possible bigger trades.

In this case we skip past all that and get this guy in training camp tomorrow to practice. I know I sound like a broken record on this point.
The Colts signed Deshea Townsend. Frank Walker has no leverage, no matter what circumstances there are around the league. You have to have some sort of talent before you can have any leverage. And Frank Walker hasn't shown anything to prove he has NFL talent. Can't cover, can't tackle, and even when he does(by mistake) happen to be in the right place... he's built such a bad reputation that the officials will throw a flag every time no matter what happened.

Frank looked pretty good to me in the play-offs last season. Or are we pretending those games didn't happen?

Heck, Frank Walker was drafted into their league and turned them down, but Dutch tried to get into their league and was turned down by them??? Lets bring Frank back, please.
That doesn't mean Walker is too good for the UFL. It just means he doesn't want to play for the UFL. Also, the UFL Draft doesn't work the same way as the NFL. When Walker was "drafted" all it meant was that if Walker were to play in the UFL, he'd have to play for the team he was "drafted" to.

More depth is never a bad thing for corners, anyone who thought we'd get Hall or even Rodgers for Beck was just being silly. I'm sure this won't be the only move Ozzie makes if he really thinks we need that much help at corner this year.

This is extremely insignificant. This guy probably won't even make the final roster. This isn't worth a 5 page thread.

That's what I was thinking too and it makes me wonder if Beck was on the cutting block as well.

This frees up a little cash doesn't it?
Beck's contract was only worth $1.101 million.

That's a lotta cash to me, LOL.

I'm gonna say it...I'm not averse to bringing Frank back. *ducks*

Beck has ZERO trade value. The Ravens were probably deciding on cutting him anyways. They pulled the trigger to get somebody who's contract is probably small and already worked out.

If somebody's QB goes down in TC. They will probably be contacting us for Smith first.

First use of logic in this thread. Congrats

The Redskins apparently have already cut Colt Brennan. That was quick.
He and Troy are/were in the same position. Both saw former starters brought in to back-up the starter and seem to be overvalued by fans.

This is pretty simple, the Ravens made their decision that Beck was going to be the odd man out, so they got something for him instead of just cutting him.

Dutch isn't going to make the roster, probably not even the practice squad so just calm down people. He's just a body that they need to practice

There is light at the end of the tunnel for Beck. In Washington he has chance to be number 2 and see some time on the field. With us there was no way he was going to start over Flacco or Bulgar and Smith is a very specialized QB that is good to have on the roster.

He scrambles well in the pocket, and is used for the wildcat along with many other trick plays.
He is basically a younger version of Michael Vick and there are only a handful of players like that...

I wouldn't say a younger version, probably a poor man's Vick.

And.........here we go!

He scambles for <nothing> and requires us to call a time out every "wild cat" play. And PLEASE do not refer to him as a younger Mike Vick. They're not even close to each other when its comes to athleticism and football talent!

By "trick plays", do you mean the one successful play to Flacco 2 years ago? Ugh.....

I really do not give a dam who the 3rd string QB is. Troy Smith isn't Willie Beaman and John Beck was just Cam's little project.

Just wish we could of gotten someone with a little bit of potential. This Dutch guy sounds like he will be cut in a matter of weeks.

The only "Vickish" thing about Smith is his lack of accuracy.

When he is out on the field he makes an effort, but in real terms without weapons he would be useless because he can't create offense by himself.

He probably will be, probably being the operative word. Beck, more than likely, would have been odd man out and Ozzie did what he should have done. What do you propose we should have received for a 4th string QB?
