Weeping Over A Song

Today I had an early Thanksgiving dinner, as a local drug store catered an entire turkey dinner for the residents of the apartment building where I live. I took it in, and I enjoyed it very much.

I'll most likely have two dinners tomorrow, as a friend who works in a local outlet of a national chain drug store has invited me to Thanksgiving dinner at her local church, then I will try to have dinner with my sister and her family, who live out in the country.

Only a little while until my appointment with the nurse practitioner. I just hope it goes well.

Later today I shall go over to the library and download some brackets of college soccer and football, as well as print some stuff. I have no printer at home.

What's it like in Clinton?
Clinton is primarily a farming community, with some manufacturing in the area. What made our history was the incident of the Clinton 12 back in 1956, during the civil rights movement of the day.

I can recall - as a student at Clinton High School in the late seventies - serving as the public address announcer during my junior year, as well as being a member of the high school choir.

Much has changed since then, yet I still think there can be some good come from Clinton.

I used to live on a farm, but now I live in an apartment building here in Clinton. I reside on the fifth floor - top floor of the building.

Farm life was somewhat good, as I can recall helping my father on that farm. I can recall using the roto tiller - under his supervision - as well as getting the water for the plants and weeding out the gardens.

I recall we grew beans, corn and tomatoes, some of which we sold to local grocers.

That was thirty years ago, and I can recall doing that.

You didn't have any animals on the farm?

Not enough field for pasture, just enough field for growing crops.

I still recall moving from the farm in August 1980, and the memory has come back since you've mentioned the farm. Thanks.

How are Titans fans feeling?
I imagine the Titans fans are feeling a little off-kilter, after what has become their team over the past few weeks. I try not to let it get to me, mostly because the Titans are still, in my view, the former Houston Oilers.

I prefer a team which interests me due to a different reason, such as the Ravens, mostly due to Ray Lewis and Joe Flacco, but also due to the Marching Ravens.

Tomorrow brings my appointment with the nurse practitioner, but today I received a scare - in the form of a blood pressure screening at the apartment building where I live. My blood pressure turned out to be alarmingly high - 150 over 96 at the last reading.

I'll admit, I haven't had any medication to control this since October, and when I've mentioned this to the NP, he tells me he will get it taken care of - but no luck as far as a new prescription.

However, today, after the screening, I took the notes from the screening to the clinic where I am a patient, and the receptionist took down the information. I believe I will see action taken.

I hope to hear from all of you concerning this, as I trust you here.

You should cut down on your salt consumption: that's an easy way to lower your blood pressure.

You're right, flaccopoe, I have been having too much salt as of late. I shall do my best to cut down on the salt, and also to walk more, as I weigh too much - for my taste, as it were - as of now.

Tomorrow, after my appointment with the NP over the cyst, which feels like it has almost disappeared, I shall take a long walk.

Today was my appointment with the NP, and from what he's checked, that cyst has disappeared. Gone. That's very good.

Today I took a long walk, and I may just take another one, to check with the Post Office on a package I've been waiting for.

george did you get my PM? I sent it a few weeks ago I believe.
Yeah, Sizzle, I got the Pm, yet I don't believe that what was discussed in that is allowed in this state.

That's great to hear! Did he suggest anything regarding your high blood pressure?

He basically suggested that I stay with the blood pressure medication he put me back on, and that I get to walking more often, in order to lose so much of this weight. I'm currently at 237 pounds.

Tomorrow I will try to get active again, basically with a long walk.

You should jog instead: it burns calories and strengthens muscles faster!

You're right, flaccopoe - I shall get my warm-up suit out and use it when I am at the community center here in Clinton. Thirteen laps around the gym there is counted as one mile, so this may just work.

Do you live within a couple miles of your work-place? If so, you could kill 2 birds with 1 stone by jogging to work.

Actually, flaccopoe, I live within two miles of the community center here in Clinton; I have no job, because my father denied me the chance to work when I was younger, mostly because he wanted me to go where he was from - the coal country of Eastern Kentucky - and work for a living. That was after I had trained in boradcasting school in the early eighties.

I get by on disability income, due to my anxiety problems, and I now hope to make things happen as a writer, as I have some story ideas I wish to develop, most likely into short stories, although the idea of a novel, or suggesting one of my stories to a motion picture studio for development, does interest me.

Today we've been preparing for an ice storm which is to hit by midnight, so that should make getting around in Clinton difficult, as there are some parts of Clinton on hillsides.

If it's too cold outside and you want something to kick your *** for cardio get an elliptical machine. It basically feels like jogging or biking through sand and is twice as effective as jogging or a walker.

Fortunately, we have some equipment such as that over at the community center here in Clinton, and I will try to put it to good use.
