Weeping Over A Song

Speaking of roll, here's a song that I find myself weeping to currently.

Great, I've been rickrolled. I can finally say that now.

I will own up to being afraid of one singer when I was younger. It was the mid-to-late sixties, and the singer was Nancy Sinatra. The reason I was afraid of her then was because I thought she would follow through on her promise in her notorious song.

I think that's an honest statement.

You were scared of Nancy Sinatra???

George, you are just weird enough for me to like you. I guess if I was ever to be scared of a singer it would be Oderus Urungus.

I wasn't even six years of age at the time. Still, when she says she's "gonna walk all over you" with her boots, it should be enough to scare anyone.

I haven't mentioned this to anyone here in the forums for a little while until today, but for the past two to three months I have had a lump on the back of my head - behind my right ear. It is about the size of a dime, and I don't really know what it is, although I have heard some interesting possibilities from friends elsewhere.

Fortunately, I have an appointment with a nurse practitioner on Monday at 10AM, so hopefully I can find out more in regard to this, as i am concerned by this.

It is a dime, I put it back there, magic trick.

I think the nurse practitioner will be able to tell you more than anyone on here. Sorry to hear about the scary bump, hope it's nothing at all!

I, too, hope it isn't anything serious, berad, although it feels as hard as a rock. I suppose I am bothered by what it could be, but I shall have to wait until tomorrow's appointment to find out.

I will keep all of you here posted.

My appointment with the nurse practitioner today went well. It turns out that the lump is a cyst, and some antibiotics have been prescribed for this. I just hope this works itself out.

I just knew it was gonna be a cyst. Didn't want to jinx it, though. Good news, considering the possibilities.

So far, the treatment for the cyst has been going well - I have been on the medication for the past five days, and I think the cyst is shrinking.

I shall soon find out when I return to the NP.

You need to take a blade to it. But make sure that someone films it and puts it on youtube.

I've, apparently, had a cyst on the left side of my head, above my temple, since I was a kid.
I'm a rough 29 now, it hasn't killed me, although it does flair up every now and then.
The thing is it's not dime shaped nor hard.
I don't mean to freak you out or anything, and each cyst is different, but a second opinion wouldn't hurt.
That's just my opinion, and I think I have everything imaginable, a mild hypochondriac.
Although I don't have the ability to go to a regular health care provider.
My mom has told me that when I was in elementary school I was afraid of going into the cafeteria because I thought I would get aids, since the workers were called cafeteria aids...
I also thought I had breast cancer when I was young, which is very rare in males, especially at such a young age, and never had been over weight.
But I would still suggest getting a second opinion, just to make sure, and to settle any opposing thoughts.
As far as weeping over a song, that is common, much of music is meant to be wept over, in a sense, it is it's point in some cases.
Of course it's a situational thing, it may depend on the song or it's context, etc.
But really, if a song, well certain ones, can bring you to that reaction it's perfectly normal, and I see it being as if you have really understood the intent of the song.
There are plenty of songs worth feeling emotional for, that's a given.

I understand the wisdom of getting a second opinion, however I am not able to do that, due to my location and constraints on my money.

I will check with the NP, however, to see if a second can be obtained, which I will try for once the antibiotics run out.

"Tears in Heaven" makes me well up, but only because I know the story behind it.
Didn't effect me till I was a dad. Heard it the other night for the first time in years and thought if I ever lost my son it'd kill me.

My fiance's father passed away almost two years ago. He was a big Clapton fan and one of the songs playing before the service was "Tears in Heaven" There wasn't a dry eye in the place.

Well I just had a big old cry. I was in the same boat at the same time. "Moon River" was the song. You have to remember that this was a late fifties man born and raised in South Africa. There was a chorus of women later at his burial singing truly amazing African songs.

Here it is a Wednesday night, and I still have a lot to do here, as I will be moving one floor up in the apartment building where I live. My current apartment is designed for disabled people, and we have a tenant who is confined to a power chair, so I will have to get my current apartment cleaned and the stuff moved to the new digs.

I just hope things go well before, during and after the move.

Well good luck on the move.
Moving is very, very stressful, luckily you don't have far to go.
Once the move is over and you are unpacked it's always nice to arrange things differently than they normally would have been in your other house.
It's a chance to start over in a sense, and it will allow your brain to stray from certain routines that may not have been healthy.

So what other kind of music do you like?

Thanks for the best wishes, Jabara. I could really use them at this time.

In regard to other music, I have been one for different types of songs, which I suppose shows from my time in a trade school for deejays back in the early eighties. Among those I enjoy I include Nancy Sinatra, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis - those kinds of artists which made, and still make, oldies radio hum.

I also have been influenced by my stint as a volunteer deejay for the college radio station at the University of Tennessee a few years ago, when I called myself, "George the Male Amazon", going for some Warren Zevon and the Reverend Horton Heat, plus the work of the Nightwatchman (Tom Morello).

Finally, I was interested in Susan Boyle, due to the story of her rise to renown.

Well, flaccopoe, I was DJing on 90.3 The Rock, from the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, but things didn't go too well for me during my time at the University as far as studies went, so I ended up moving back to Clinton, where I started my sojourn through the college system.

Benny Smith, the station manager, had enjoyed my work, and there was even a dance club manager who wanted me to have my own show on the station outright. However, things didn't work out too well to get a show, and I was running low on cash, so I had to come back to Clinton.

To be honest, flaccopoe, I had only trained as a deejay at a trade school in the early eighties, with the hope that I would be a deejay on the radio somewhere within the next few years. Those hopes were dashed when my father wouldn't let me go where I wanted to go and work for a living.

When my father passed on in 1993, I felt that chance had passed, but yet it came up again all those years later. I still dream of radio, but now I would be on talk radio, with visions of Madison, Wisconsin and the Twin Cities in my mind, not to mention Baltimore as well. As far as doing a show with music, I would try to utilize the college radio circuit for inspiration, as much of what comes over Top 40 in this day and age has no meaning for me.

My latest appointment with the nurse practitioner went well, the cyst has shrunk down to a smaller size, and it will be removed in December.

I just hope things go well during that appointment.

Yeah, Jabara, I made the move last weekend, and I am currently posting over at the local public library, as the internet service in my new apartment won't be established until after Thanksgiving.
