Which QB would you pick?

20 posts in this topic

You are on the clock in your league draft and Aaron Rogers and Drew Brees are available. Question which QB do you take? Reasons for and against each pick.

Thanks.

I'm most likely going to run into this issue when I draft for my league, given my slot..

I would go for Rodgers. The Packers have tried to solidify their offensive line and give Rodgers more protection. If it pans out, and Rodgers is hit less, he should post astronomical numbers.

Drew Brees, he's shown what he gives you and should put up numbers on-par with his average. I just think Rodgers will be better.

Both are great, though, can't go wrong with either.

I have the same issue. Can Brees replicate last year or do the Saints have a post-Super Bowl letdown? Can Rogers take the next step and lead the Packers to the Super Bowl? Nice dilemma to have. Thanks for your thoughts. Good luck in your league.

While you really can't go wrong with either selection, I'd go with Rodgers as well. Right now, his ceiling just seems higher to me than Brees. Not to mention, Rodgers is a little less likely to throw picks than Brees, which will save you from losing some points.

Actually, I'd say it's the other way around. Ryan Grant carried the ball 282 times last year for 1,253 yards and 11 touchdowns. While Pierre Thomas only carried the ball 147 times for 793 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Well if you look at it like that, then yes Ryan Grant did have more yards and tds. But New Orleans is about 6th in all around rushing offense, Green Bey is about 14th or so. Thats what I meant about New Orleans having a better rushing offense

What you're forgetting is that even though New Orleans was 6th last year, the Saints lost Mike Bell who ran 654 yards and 5 touchdowns. So the Saints rushing attack should drop off this year with only Thomas and Bush.

Since last year's Saints running attack looked like this:
Thomas: 147 Carries - 793 Yards - 6 TDs
Bell: 172 Carries - 654 Yards - 5 TDs
Bush: 70 Carries - 390 Yards - 5 TDs

Green Bay Packers: 991 total plays, 438 rushes (44.2%), 553 passes (55.8%)

New Orleans Saints: 1012 total plays, 468 rushes (46.2%), 544 passes (53.8%)

So they're about the same. Technically, Green Bay was more pass-focused last season.

To compare..

Baltimore Ravens: 978 total plays, 468 rushes (47.9%), 510 passes (52.1%)

Edit: Good call on the lose of Bell, Demon

Good point but don't be surprised if Lynell Hamilton steps in Mike Bell's role.

To answer the question though, I'm taking Rodgers.

This is fantasy talk, we are talking fantasy. And so far it seems like Rodger's is the favorite. To me, it seems like they are bound to post similar numbers, but Rodgers has a better chance to boom this season. If I had to chose one to break 5000 yards, I'd pick Rodgers.

I have another question pertaining to this topic. When does it become acceptable to draft a QB?? Should you always fill up your runningbacks and recieving spots even with the risk of losing out on the top half of the QB's, or should you take one in the third?? I'm in a 6 team league, and I have been having a dilemma about that one for a while. I also have 3 flex spots in addition to the regular spots.

Rodgers, not because of the Madden Curse (dont buy into that) I just believe he is going to play lights out yet again this year. i had him last year and won my league because of him.

Rodgers....

If what I read on CBS sports FF is correct, he scored more fantasy points than any other player(can't find the link so just consider that hearsay for now)

GB looks to be improving the o-line, and Rodgers isn't afraid to throw it (snicker) or take a lick (double snicker)

I like gumbo, but the cheesehead in me is screaming Aaron Rodgers.
