Domonique Foxworth Tears ACL

A corner out of the draft this past off season would have been nice. Ozzie preaches depth but totally ignored our most thin position. And now he's gotta figure something out so teams in this new "pass every down" NFL don't destroy our secondary every game. :bitenails:

Not drafting a CB is coming back to bite us in the BooBoo now. Im sorry but CB should have been at the top of our list in the draft, now we will have to give up something to get a legit #1.

Balt GM Ozzie Newsome and ace personnel man Eric DeCosta must earn their money now. They'll be sifting through all the vet corners for sure.

I remember people arguing with me on how great our draft strategy was and I remember saying what happens if foxworth goes down, Look out it now. One of the Worst secondarys in football. I hated last seasons approach and I hated this seasons approach. Terrible
Would a rookie CB really have made a difference?

Anyone have a time machine pill we could give Ty Law for him to be the elite corner we saw in the early 2000's?? I'll give you a million, no, a BILLION bucks if you could give it to him and get him to come here.

we are all freaking out now let's give the FO a few days to sort this out who knows we might have a very good replacement coming in.....just give them the time.If not let's hope that pass rush is better then maybe our secondary(which we have been saying)won't have to carry the load
I'm sure they are going through names and calling teams right this second.

On a related note, I think it's interesting how quickly people's perception of Foxworth has changed in less than a year's time. Just last offseason, people were questioning why he was paid so much money. And now, people are hoping that his injury isn't nearly as serious as it sounds.
True, I don't think there would be much worry if there was quality backups that were proven, maybe this will give someone a chance to step up who will play better and produce? You never know but moments like this show how hungry players are and how much heart they have. I'm not a foxworth fan but I'm even less of a fan of having no CB's on the field. I have faith, we will work it out.

A player who was on the board like kyle Wilson would of.

We could of ended up with kyle wilson and cody still and one of the TE's.

Now we're left with...What?

I don't see how signing two CBs in FA counts as "ignoring the position". No, the team didn't draft a CB but according to their scouts, there wasn't a CB worth taking in any of the spots after their first two picks. They might have taken Kyle Wilson but what Denver offered was too great to pass up. They wanted Chris Cook but St.Louis didn't was asking for too much.

Here's the important thing to keep in mind: other teams have struggled with CB issues before. The Colts do it every year and still make the playoffs with a potent offense and average defense.

This is a team with an offense that could be dangerous and a defense that is still strong even without certainty at the CB position. So long as the CBs are average, the rest of the defense can step up and things'll be OK.

There is a lot of time between now and the regular season.

lol at Walt Harris' statement about this being a huge opening for him. How in the world can this be an opening if he can't even pass a conditioning test due to soreness in his ACL??? Sounds like to me he's the next one to go down if we push him hard at all.

Denver offered the Ravens two picks. Ozzie and co. felt the two picks was worth more than drafting Wilson.

Exactly. Now we will hear all the BS about Ozzie not getting a CB in the draft. I still agree with our draft selections. Its just bad luck about Fox. The FO will do something im sure. A rookie is not the answer I agree.

Man, this actually brought a tear to my eye lol. I hate that. I'm going to go add him now and talk it out with the man. I feel sorry for him, and I know he's got a good heart when he posts something like that on his site, let alone be a player rep for us.

Walt Harris had soreness in his Achilles, not his ACL.

Either way, Harris is just being optimistic. Plus, it's not unheard of for players to fail conditioning tests on their first couple of days. It's not the easiest thing in the world.

Wow. The end of the offseason just gets better and better. I remember just a few precious weeks ago we were discussing all these other teams misfortunes. Good gravy. The other AFCN fans must be licking thier chops.

Time for Ozzie to really earn his paycheck.

Just Cody.

Passing on a CB was a huge mistake, we were set at the LB position. and a Rook would have made a big difference...anyone remember last years 3rd Rd. Pick Ladarius Webb???

We had a shot at Aaron Spivey from Iowa as well who was a pick off machine and Akwasi Owusu Ansah. Is it me or does our team refuse our greatest weaknesses and say we are good there, then it gets exposed terribly the following season, then we get on the ball with fixing it?

Hopefully KJ Gerard is a diamond in the rough!

is there an echo in here? I mean I like Kruger, but all the guy has done is ride the pine and patiently wait for a chance. Meanwhile, there was Sean Smith still chilling on the board - at 6'3 3/4, 214lb, 4.5 - 40 yd dash we shoulda snatched him up while we had the chance.

Would it have been a mistake if Kindle hadn't fallen down the stairs and Foxworth stayed healthy?

You bring up Webb as an example of a rookie CB making an impact but how often does that happen?

Other free agents that caught my eye were Will Allen, Ken Lucas, Anthony Henry, Fred Smoot, Shawn Springs, Rodrick Hill, and Ty Law. But they just sound like band-aids, and not potential no.1 or 2 CBs.
We can't be fishing at the bottom of the barrel we have to bring in a legitimate starter to replace what was our #1 corner.

1st and a 4th to Oakland for Asomugha....get it done. Thats really what they should do and would probably increase their SB chances... Ozzie is probably already on the phones. Teams know they are in a bind and will make them pay through the nose but there really is no other choice in a Super Bowl year.

Lets look at all the non-contenders (TB, BUFF, STL, OAK, CAR, DET, etc.) and see who the best corner is then trade for him ASAP.

It sucks guys, but this HAS to happen.

Rarely do we ever see a rookie CB make an immediate impact. The learning curve is just too high. Other than Webb, only Vontae Davis immediately comes to mind as having been a significant rookie playmaker at CB last year.

Kruger is going into his 2nd year; he could still make an impact. Smith's measurables looked good but he played last season and lost his starting spot by mid-season.

How could you possibly know that? He hasn't played an NFL down yet and could tear his own ACL. If you gave me the deal Ozzie took over Wilson I would take it again and again. They tried to trade up and get a corner in round two and couldn't get it done and from then on none of the corners available were better than the ones we had.
