Domonique Foxworth Tears ACL

437 posts in this topic

Oh well... It should prove to be an interesting day or two. Just imagine all the chatter coming from this. It took all of 5 minutes to get three pages of replies. I guess we will find out soon enough whether or not Ozzie plans on doing something or just going with ---- I hate saying this again, Next man up.

We need a trade, but I don't see Ozzie doing one. Get ready to see Chris Carr and KJ Gerard starting.
Can't wait!! I'd love to see Carr up against Braylon Edwards and Gerard against Jerricho Cotchery. Then we get to see them against Johnson and Owens in week 2! Lovely. Not..

I say we get Frank Walker as our number 1 corner. He's gonna be a Hall of Famer one day. Just kidding.

We should get Darelle Revis for Troy Smith. Whoops, that won't work either?? Dang...

What about Nnamdi for McGahee?? That'll work for sure.... (5 seconds later, I get a call from Al Davis saying that he'd trade Nnamdi for Smith. I freak out thinking he's joking, but then I remember he's the one who drafted Darrius Heyward-Bey before Michael Crabtree. Then I rejoice).
Nnamdi would be expensive, but maybe worth it at this point. McGahee + Fox + another player perhaps?

Yeah this is just plain crazy. We get Washington back and Fab goes down. This is not good at all. I wonder if the FO will be forced to try and make some kind of trade now. I know we have some good depth but I dont know who could possibly step up and take the starting role. Especially covering number 1 receivers. Maybe Washington will be able to. Who knows. I kept reading the tweets about Fox walking off the field untouched. How could this have happened. I guess it will come out soon enough.
On a Super Bowl contender this cannot happen. The Ravens are going to have to give up an early 2011 draft pick and bring in a legit starting corner from a non-contender willing to deal. This HAS to happen they cannot go into the season with Washington, Carr, Harris, and Gerard... theres just no way.

Hopefully, this will force the FO's hand a little bit and bring in some legitimate starting corners into the rotation we don't need depth, we need a starter!

Our secondary is our achiles heel and it has to be fixed before the SB word can be mentioned again.

Is Samari Rolle healthy? Try to get him out of retirement?
I don't think he'll ever fully be ready to play with the possible risk of epileptic seizures affecting him at any time. Granted, that can be controlled with medication, but I think there's also other injuries that he's nursing that would affect his quality of life if he were to reaggravate them again. His neck, in particular, comes to mind.

No team is going to trade for a player who just tore his ACL.

He isn't the answer to the problems but don't forget, the team signed Travis Fisher a while ago.

I believe this injury will fuel are secondary to step up big time. I have faith in them, plus we have the Wizard of Oz that could bring a solid corner in by the time preseason starts. Think of it this way, we haven't started the season yet we have lots of time to get our secondary right.

As for Webb/Washington's return... it takes a while after making an official comeback to actually come back from ACL injuries and other leg injuries. Tom Brady, for example, was a pale shadow of himself in 07 a season after coming back from ACL injury, and he doesn't even have to turn around and run as much as a corner does. It affects you more ways than just the fact that you can't play. It impacts your mentality.

First day back to work and now this!?!?!?! Wow!!!

There is no one out there in FA and trades will likely not happen in our favor....

Who is there really to trade, though? Too many young backups at various positions that are unproven, and too many veteran starters that are up there in age with little trade value. Trevor Pryce and Kelly Gregg wouldn't get much interest. Too risky to trade Dawan Landry with Haruki Nakamura just returning from an injury and Tom Zbikowski and Ken Hamlin possibly being rotated in Ed Reed's place. There's really no one on offense other than Willis McGahee that could risk being traded without a significant drop-off at the position.

And frankly, a team wouldn't bite on McGahee if he's on the wrong side of 30 and could be a free agent soon anyway. There are other, cheaper RB options that teams could explore if they wanted a veteran RB.
It's not a position guy we would trade. It will have to be draft pick(s). I know Ozzie doesn't like to, but I'm sure he is looking into the options.

On a related note, I think it's interesting how quickly people's perception of Foxworth has changed in less than a year's time. Just last offseason, people were questioning why he was paid so much money. And now, people are hoping that his injury isn't nearly as serious as it sounds.

I guess there are future draft picks but I dont see any team doing that for a quality corner they will need this year. Plus Ozzie hates giving those up

Bad news on Domonique Foxworth. They are saying on the radio (fan) the Ravens are making phone calls to other teams to see who is available.

i felt Foxy wasn't proven didn't have enough time to really judge, but he showed some great presence ouot there last year, had a few holes in coverage but you know no pass rush can do that to any CB

Other free agents that caught my eye were Will Allen, Ken Lucas, Anthony Henry, Fred Smoot, Shawn Springs, Rodrick Hill, and Ty Law. But they just sound like band-aids, and not potential no.1 or 2 CBs.

It speaks to how he's improved as a player and injuries at the CB position.

Wondering what the guys on NFL Network would say about the Bengals and the Ravens now that Fox is down and out (currently watching NFL Total Access)?

As of last night, they all feel we could take the Bengals.

*sigh*

I'm not sure if draft picks have the same value as they normally do, if only because of the uncertainty of the league after this season. With a potential work stoppage imminent, college players might be hesitant to declare themselves draft-eligible if scrubs are being brought in and the money isn't there -- so we could actually see players turn down NFL teams for guaranteed money in the AFL or CFL or UFL (though not nearly as much) if the labor conflict creates an unusual situation that we've only seen maybe once before with the old USFL.

i told everyone getting rid of frank walker was a bad idea. Considering we had to starters with season ending knee injuries last year and now we are more than thin at this position. Although Fab is back it will take him quite some time to get up to speed. This is horrible i am so Mad we didn't draft Kyle Wilson. But on the positive side we get to see what we are really made of.

That's the weakest link of our team. If this holds true, we are going to have to figure out something.
I agree, depth as well as quality are question marks. I just hope someone steps to the plate. The secondary is hurting bad, but we always fight back so I have faith. I'll be at training camp in a few weeks so I will hope to see some good play making out there.

I can't believe this is all happening. Whoever is causing the Ravens this bad karma needs to start doing something good to turn the karma around.

Aso anyone?

we are all freaking out now let's give the FO a few days to sort this out who knows we might have a very good replacement coming in.....just give them the time.If not let's hope that pass rush is better then maybe our secondary(which we have been saying)won't have to carry the load

I remember people arguing with me on how great our draft strategy was and I remember saying what happens if foxworth goes down, Look out it now. One of the Worst secondarys in football. I hated last seasons approach and I hated this seasons approach. Terrible

Anyone have a time machine pill we could give Ty Law for him to be the elite corner we saw in the early 2000's?? I'll give you a million, no, a BILLION bucks if you could give it to him and get him to come here.

from Dan Kolko twitter
CB Walt Harris says he sees this as a great opportunity for himself. Obviously feels bad for Foxworth but says he can now step up #Ravens
