Heard it on NFL Live. We haven't met with the Eagles for any McNabb trade.

that's bad news!

Yeah but Byrne said the supposedly top-secret head coach search was riddled with leaks, as we all know. Just throwing that out there.

it was stated on philly's comcast sportsnet that it would take an astronomical offer that would start with no less than MULTIPLE 1st round picks! and also, john clayton from ESPN reported that mcnabb is an eagle and isn't going anywhere! not chicago, not the vikings and not baltimore!

Philly would be INSANE to let the cornerstone of their franchise -- Donovan McNabb -- go!!! Philly fans are notoriously crititical...how would the Eagles spin that one and keep season ticket holders happy??? Who is going to replace him???

Andy Reid is happy to see John Harbaugh get his shot, but giving away his franchise QB to B'more as well. NAHHH!!!!

I hope not! That's all we need another drain on our salary cap and draft choices.

Philly fans dont really care for McNabb. Do you know how many times they booed him this past season?

They booed Charles Barkley when he was with the 76'ers -- they probaly booed Randall Cunningham in his day -- they are hard on everybody...

I can't speak as one intimately knowledgable on the subject, but for the city of brotherly love they could show more loyalty to their sports stars, but their reputation is otherwise.

I still don't want McNabb if he will cost a fortune, and cost us valuable draft picks. If we release McNair he would cost us a salary cap hit probably, so, so much the worse.

I go back to developing Troy and Kyle (who was a "new" Kyle under Neuheisel), and get another guy in the draft to add to the mix. If we want a "fresh start" that is what we need to do. IMHO

Does anyone in the NFL actually care for him? If we started to care about him he'd probably start screaming "YOU ALL RACIST!" out of paranoia.

His comments make me laugh.

Sorry for the multiple post here, but it addresses the overall thought of McNabb/McNair and the whole QB situation.

I suggested above we develop Troy and Kyle and sign a QB in the draft. And an old thought of mine occurred to me again. Maybe we already have our bargain player at QB who is still on the active roster -- Cullen Finnerty. I will post his stats here from Wikipedia, and again say he is impressive. (And add that guys like Unitas, Montana, and Brady were overlooked or undervalued in their draft years but went on to be champions.) Here are Cullen's stats/bio:

[edit] 2006 season

As a senior quarterback, Finnerty became the winningest quarterback in NCAA history for all divisions, with a career record as a starting quarterback of 51-4, and he was named to the 2006 American Football Coaches Association All America Team [5]. Finnerty also earned Daktronics First Team All American honors[6]. He finished the 2006 GVSU season with a 15-0 record, completing 195 of 343 passes for 3,220 passing yards and 41 touchdowns, and leading the nation in quarterback efficiency with 169.32. Finnerty also rushed for 580 yards and 8 touchdowns himself, totalling 3,800 offensive yards and 49 touchdowns on the season, for an average offense of 253.3 yards per game [7] . Finnerty was awarded second place for the Harlon Hill Trophy award [8], just prior to the NCAA Div II national championship match in Florence, Alabama. In the title match versus Northwest Missouri State University, Finnerty completed 15-of-33 passes for 225 yards and rushed for 115 yards on 22 carries for 340 yards of total offense, passing for one TD and running for another. Finnerty became the first quarterback in NCAA Div. II Championship game history to pass for over 200 yards and also rush for over 100. [9]

[edit] Legacy

Over four seasons, Finnerty finished 14-1 in the NCAA playoffs and 51-4 overall. His 51 wins as a starting quarterback is the most in NCAA history. Finnerty finished his career as one of only two players to throw for more than 10,000 yards and rush for 2,000 yards (10,905 passing and 2,383 rushing). Finnerty ranks third all-time in the NCAA in total offense (13,288), and holds the NCAA all-divisions seasonal record with 41 touchdown passes. Finnerty ended his 4-season playoff career with 3,009 passing yards and 3,784 yards of total offense, accounting for 35 touchdowns in the playoffs. He personally finished tenth in school history in rushing yards (2,383), and went over 3,000 yards passing on the season (3,220 yards). In total, Finnerty threw for 110 TDs and ran for 31 TDs in his career. He was the third player in NCAA Division II history to quarterback three national championship teams. [10]

Finnerty and his senior class of 2006-2007 at GVSU produced a four-season record of 52-4.

With those stats/bio, maybe I have been wrong in calling for us to draft another QB. AND he can ot only throw he can run too, which complements an offense with a mobile QB in Troy.

Just a thought...

He looks interesting, maybe a darkhorse QB to come up during the off-season and training camp; we'll see what Cam and the new QB coach do with him.

I dont want him either but I was responding to the statement that someone made about Philly fans being angry about any trade involving McNabb. They wont be angry until they starting losing miserably without him.

The last thing we need is another "seasoned" quarterback. I say: let Boller and Smith battle it out in training camp/preseason and go with the best of what we have. Gaining Coach Harbaugh allows him to come in without the "loyalty" that Billick had, and really determine what direction we need to go in. Maybe Boller can finally step up under the guidance on Cam Cameron, maybe it's time for the young Smith to become a starter. Regardless of that battle, we certainly don't need McNabb.

No McNabb for us. We need to find a guy to develop into our Franchise QB. Rather it be Troy or a guy we get in the draft or a young guy we get in a trade or something. I have no doubt that Cam will develop the talent and we will be just fine with the QB position for the first time in years. And who knows maybe even Boller will develop into that guy (I can't believe I just said that) but Rivers was in the same situation as Kyle before Cam came along.
