We all know Cinci signed T.O., so does that make the Bengals receiving corps better than the Ravens?... As said in the poll, for this year only, would you rather have Ocho Cinco / A. Bryant / T.O. / Caldwell / Shipley (Rookie) |or| Boldin / Mase / Stallworth / Clayton / Reed (Rookie)?

I think it's close and I would take Boldin over anyone else, but for this year only, I think the Bengals have more well-rounded receivers. Bryant, like Mason, is really underrated, but is younger and more athletic. He's the one that gives the Bengals the edge IMO.

What do you all think?

well.. I lied... I didn't realize Antonio Bryant was hurt and will likely miss the first half of the season (just heard in on ESPN), so I'll take the Ravens, hands down.

If everyone was healthy, based on talent alone, I'd take Cincy's WR corps. Right now though, I'd take Baltimore's corps.

btw you forgot williams in the ravens list but yeah if bryant is gone and you have the two biggest meatheads in football on the same team fighting for more catches i gotta give it to the ravens. we have boldin to make plays and play tough, mason being ole' reliable, and stallworth as a deep threat. Also all three are humble and just wanna be good.

Ravens all the way!

If Bryant was healthy, I would take Cincy because... well they have 3 capable #1's on their team, and we only have 2 and a capable #2 receiver in Stalls.

Our 4th receiver is also better than their's but it isn't that big of a difference. Either way, however, I will take Joe Flacco throwing to either one of those corps than Carson, so talking strictly passing game, we are still the better choice, whether Bryant is injured or not.

yeah.. I know I left out Williams, but the Bengals have some other decent receivers, too, and Williams cant seem to stay on the field. I like D-Will's potential, but it's just that... potential.

Demetrius is a non-factor in my opinion. Reed, Clayton and even Harper have a better chance at making the team.

I personally think we'll see someone come out of nowhere on our WR depth chart. Maybe not a Miles Austin type deal, but more like Hakeem Nicks/DeSean Jackson. I think that Harper or Reed can be that guy, at least I hope. I'd take our WR core.

I am always concerned when we play the Bengals because Carson Palmer torches us. He usually has good numbers against us.

It's not a question of who has the better receiving corp, it's about how each will perform against each others secondary. With that said, I think the Bengals WR Core, Bryant or not, would perform better against our secondary.

Looking at it from that perspective and assuming that at least Webb and Reed won't be able to go in Week 2, I would have to agree. But, the performance of the secondary might be affected by each team's pass rush. If you add that factor as well, I don't know if I could give either team an edge right now.

C'mon now! T.O. and Chad? I'm a die-hard Ravens junkie, but those two together is almost like what the Miami Heat are trying to put together. I think the only other combo in the league that may compare is Randy Moss, Tory Holt, and Wes Welker in N.E. (w/ Tom Brady, WOW!) This surely is not a good year for our secondary to be banged up. Good Luck fellas!

Almost is the key word there. Ochocinco and T.O. aren't in the prime of their careers like LeBron James and Dwayne Wade...not to mention Chris Bosh as well.

I wouldn't go that far. Both T.O. and Chad aren't spring chickens anymore.

As for NE's corps, Holt got let go by Jacksonville; that should tell you all you need to know about where he is in his career. And Welker is coming off an ACL tear. There are at least 5 WR corps I'd take before them.

You do realize that Nicks/Jackson were big time prospects and didn't just come out of no where right?

If you factor in Heap, Dickson and Pitta, we've clearly got the edge.

Jermain Gresham and Chase Coffman are no slouches... Gresham is a monster.

Nicks dropping some passes doesn't change how good he is. Steve Smith took a big step forward last season but don't be surprised if Nicks outperforms this year.

I actually had the fortune of having seats on the 50 yard line during the Duke-UNC rivalry game in 2008. Nicks didn't originate his catch of the year their, but he did have this amazing catch on his helmet with one arm. I wish I could find it somewhere...

This is such a close call I'm not even voting. But one Bengal that everyone is forgetting is Andre Caldwell. Remember those two TDs he had against us and the winner against Pittsburgh? Even though his numbers last year weren't pretty, he was a solid player last year behind Chad and given that Carson has had a lot of success against us and Bryant's status is unclear, Caldwell will finish the season with more catches than Gresham, and possibly even Stallworth and Clayton if worst comes to worst. But I have no opinion on which WR corps is better.

Great post. I believe they mentioned Andre on NFL Live recently. Apparently he is receiving a lot of praise as the most improved Bengal from last season...no pun intended.

Pretty much all of these guys can catch, so personally I'm inclinced to believe that the better quarterback will be the determining factor. That said, I'd take the Ravens wrs. At least they've won playoff games. ;)

Which WR corps has more bust potential? I'd go with Cincy, but they haven't busted yet and until one of us does, it's way too close to call.

Fun fact...Flacco put up (slightly) better #'s last year than Horseteeth, despite being a sophomore and not having as good a receiving corps. Is it too soon to say Flacco is already the better QB?

Really, you arguably can say the same thing about Mark Clayton...

Ravens receivers.

More hard-nosed, hard working and complimentary players who will all understand their roles on the team.

I bet this Cincinnati experiments implodes!
