"My entire identity and self-worth hinges on the ability to act smug about the supposed supremacy of Boston's sports teams, as though I had something to do with their performance on the field.

If that goes away, I am an empty shell. I am a fraud. I would have nothing. And I'm not ready yet to deal with that. So I will simply deny that it happened."

This article is so funny! It accurately describes every Pat's fan that I know, and I know PLENTY. I married into a New England family, and they aren't quiet about it. They acted like they "had something to do with [the Pat's] performance on the field."

Anyway, they are not so smug now. In fact, they won't even answer any phone calls. I guess it's bad to rub it in, but after being force-fed the whole "perfect team" garbage all year (NOT TO MENTION: the Pats-Ravens Game), I think that they have it coming (just a little). So much for the "best team of all time."

I don't feel sorry for them at all.

Let's see 3 Super bowl wins from 2001-2007, missed the playoffs only once during that time and usually they make it to the AFC championship. Then they have the Red Sox who won two world series titles in that same time frame, not to mention the Celtics have the best record in the NBA.

im glad the Pats lost the way they did, their fans have been really spoiled. What's even sweeter is that the Pats dynasty just might have begun their downfall.

Yeah, the Pats are in a hard spot from what I saw. They have like seven unrestricted free agents, and alot of them are key players like Moss and Samuel. I think that their last offseason really hurt them in the long run. They tried to buy the Super Bowl.

Well, they paid for it. They just didn't cash-out.

I agree that Pats fans can be a bunch of morons that never shut up. But that is the exact opposite from there team. The pats are just a group of hardworking guys that only care about winning (sounds like our Defense). i watched the superbowl and i was disgusted with the reffering. i thought it was bad in the Steelers super bowl XL victory but it didnt even compare to that pats game. I feel bad for Pats fans you got cheated out of a super bowl and a undefeated season. As for the giants, they benifited from a weak division and even weaker confrence they would not go 8-8 in the AFC.

i think most of them are still in shock and in dis-belief because they thought that their team was invincible and totally un beatable...when all along people were saying (as well as me...you can qoute me on this)...."with all this success they are having this season...you can surely bet that a loss is coming...its in the works....and it will come at a costly time for them." or something like that.

the NFC is not weak. during interleague play the AFC and NFC were tied at 32. and the Giants division was definitely tougher than the Pats. Their playoff run was impressive, all road victories this coming from a wildcard team. they beat the hell out of the Pats, they deserved to win.

If the reffing was so bad, how come the Pats lost?

because the refs were so bad at fixing the game.

Obviously, maybe they were getting back at the Pats after calling that Gaffney juggling act a TD.

P.S. And now, a poem on how we really won that game....

And 4 of the top 6 picks in the draft this year belong to teams in the AFC.

And the NFC won the Pro Bowl...because that actually matters.

only fitting for Patriot fans.....throughout this past season they got wayyyy to cocky and big headed and what not. seemed like they bit off way way to much than they can really chew. because now look.....they went undefeated yes BUT they lost on the biggest stage where it REALLY counts. and now its like they are eating their own words. and it appears as though the old statement of " I told you so" comes into play.....i think it was a great thing to happen because it made all those patriots and patriot fans have a heavy dose of reality and a slap across the face.

the NFC East is NOT a weak divsion. its one of the toughest in the league, we beat the hell out of each other every season. the Giants got hot come playoff time and they beat Tampa, Dallas and Green Bay. not an easy feet with my 'Boys and the Packers. they went on the road to do it. getting a win at Texas Stadium is not easy and neither is getting a win at Lambeau Field. what led to our defeat against the Giants was, they blitzed every down in the 4th quarter having Romo run for his life. by the time the ball reached his hands he had 3 and 4 guys in his face. they bet the house on their pass rush and beat us. look at what happened with Tom Brady in the SB. they were all over him in that game. what also killed us were dumb penalties. something we need to limit this season.

the Redskins were dangerous coming into the playoffs. they as well as the Giants and eagles always play my 'Boys hard and give them about as much as they can handle. when the 4 teams in my division play each other, granted, Romo lights it up with Witten and T.O., but both teams play smash mouth. always.

granted i can only think of a handful of teams in the NFC that are dangerous and thats the Cowboys, Packers, Vikings and maybe the Giants. a team to look out for is Arizona. they can be dangerous as well. they play hard and if u give them an inch they will eat u alive.

but back to what i was saying..the NFC East along with the AFC North are 2 of the toughest divisions in the league. bar none.
