So, i saw Wacco's post asking for critiques of his team, so i figured i would do the same and see what y'all think. This is my first draft of this year (2 more closer to the season) on nfl.com. So, give me your opinions please!

QB: Payton Manning (i know, i know, but i got him as a steal!)
RB: Frank Gore
RB: Ryan Grant
WR: Chad Ochocinco (read comments after manning)
WR: Greg Jennings
WR: Derrick Mason
TE: Kellen Winslow
K: Lawrence Tynes
DST: Ravens

Backups:
QB: Flacco
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Vincent Jackson
WR: Kenny Britt
TE: Heath Miller
DST: Patriots

So my plan is really to flex start flacco and forte based on matchups, and throw in jackson for either ochocinco or mason when his suspension is up. Thoughts?

You got Manning, Gore and Grant? daymn. I sthis 8 or 10 person lead?

Eveyr draft I have had those 3 were gone in first two rounds.

Your team is nice and beastly looking.

Haha i know, it was a ten person league, and Brees, Rodgers, Brandon Marshall, and freaking Deshawn Jackson went before Gore, who i got with the 9th pick ;)

i then got manning with the 12th and Grant with the 29th. It was pretty awesome, not gonna lie :)

In my opinion Forte is terrible. Averaged less than 4 yards a carry last year, his offensive line didn't get any better. And they got Chester Taylor and paid him a decent amount of money so Taylor will get carries. I would try to trade Forte for Jahvid Best or Ben Tate if you could.

I like your team. Your wide receivers aren't real strong but they are balanced. And if Jackson comes back which I think he will, your team will be in business. Getting Flacco to backup Manning will be good during fantasy playoffs considering I anticipate Manning sitting again during fantasy playoffs. Not a flashy team, but I see consistency out of your team.

Try picking up Jacoby Jones from the Texans. My reasoning, averaged a lot of yards per catch last year showing he can be explosive. So I think he will eventually outplay Kevin Walter. Texans throw a lot and effectively, Andre Johnson takes double teams, leaving Jacoby Jones with single coverage. Explosive and single coverage is a scary thought.

I too am a Forte hater. But the value you can get for him this year is really good. As a bench RB he can't be beat. With some upside.

eh I'm not so sure. The guy got 900 yards and 4 tds last year, and Taylor wasn't there. Not only that, Mike Martz is going to throw the ball so I don't know how much Forte will get the ball. To each his own, but I'm not touching Forte

Also if James Jones is available, pick him up, Packers are going to be a passing team, so expect Rodgers to spread the ball around.

Psh. Taking my advice and spitting it back at someone else to take credit for it. You forgot I told you that Donald Driver has been having problems with his knees too.

I agree with all your points about Forte. His YAC was bad last year, he has a QB that doesn't like to dump it off to RBs and he has an offensive coordinator who likes to pass the ball.

But if you can get him late in a draft. There is the potential for him to have a better YAC (especially since he played through injuries last year. He can't get any worse, can he? I guess we'll have to see.

I can see your point. I didn't know he was hurt last year, so that would make a big difference. All depends when you can get him, and who is around him in the draft. Thing about rb is after Ben Tate or Hardesty this year there isn't really anyone else. There are more breakout wr's that no one expects than rbs. So it's always good to load up on backs earlier in the draft.

Yea. Forte went into the 2009 season nursing a hamstring injury which affected his training and played into his slow start. Then in Week 3 he sprained the MCL in his knee. He didn't miss anytime from these injuries but they definitely affected his production last year.

Apparently he is healthy right now. His bursts are a lot better and reports from minicamp was that he looked good. But he's still in an awful situation for a RB.

Well thanks for the info. Maybe if he falls real far in another draft I'll get him. But for me, I wouldn't draft him before round 10

team looks good man... V-Jax is a good pick if he ends up signing. solid, solid team.. I don't like having a backup D or TE, so I'd look through waivers and see if I could get another RB b/c you only have three, but that's about it.

You know after reading all this about forte ( i got him 7th rd, pick 58) and looking over his situation, i agree that i should at least pick up a 4th rb. Not to say he won't be good, but right now he's more of a sleeper with possible potential than anything else.

Oh, and i forget who asked, but i am playing online on nfl.com. I highly recommend it if you don't have a draft with friends (i do those on yahoo) because the random people on there always find a way to suck. Case and point, i just picked up Ben Tate for Miller on the ww, as insurance on Forte. I almost feel kind of bad, as it seems the people on nfl.com have no idea what they are doing (DeSean Jackson was the 5th overall pick..), but i know winning in a league puts you in a running for super bowl tickets, so i'm gonna keep on playing!

Of course, after saying that, i know i'm going to come in dead last this year ;)

You're like me. I think having a backup TE or defense is a wasted draft pick/slot. Now if you have a crappy TE, then maybe you can argue picking up a second TE. But defenses there is no excuses. Even the bad defenses have good matchups every week.

I agree having a back-up D is a waste but a backup TE is a must for me. You're going to have to make a move when your starter has his bye anyway; why not ensure he's a TE you can feel comfortable starting?

If I get either Dallas, Gates, Celek, Witten, Gonzales or Witten there really won't be a time where I would bench one of these guys for a lower tiered guy. Only time is the bye like you mentioned.

I'd rather invest my draft pick in a sleeper. And when the bye week comes along I assess my bench and cut whoever is least productive for some waiver fodder TE. There are usually decent options at TE on the waiver wire.

It's a bye week replacement TE. I'm not expecting much. But if it is a 12+ team league then it is worth having a backup TE. Because the waiver wire will be thin.

That's it. I don't play in league less than 14 teams anymore so that's why I value depth so much. Plus, I'm still basking in the glow of drafting Witten and Keller respectively in two leagues last year and then having their back-up, Celek outproduce them.
