Conditioning Test

I was wondering how hard the conditioning test is and how long it would take for him to be able to pass it.

WALT HARRIS & MOUNT CODY Fail Conditioning Test

Ofcourse it's something to worry about. Walt Harris not so much. He's coming off an injury so it isn't surprising.

But Cody fails the conditioning test? That's a tad worrisome. What if he goes out and pushes himself hard to get himself ready to pass the conditioning test, and hurts an ankle or something.

Well have to keep eye on it. But bottom line is , he can't practice. And if we want our rookies to have an impact, they need to practice!

This topic deserves a thread by itself. Don't delete it. I know we were talking about it in the other thread but it is a good discussion on its own.

Wow it seems like this passed week or two things have been falling apart, with Reed, the back up QB drama, Kindle and now Cody. When will he get another chance to take the test again? And what made him fail?

With all the hype from the media and fans, and the high expectations from the coaching staff and players you would think these guys would be ready to show off what they got. Instead you have guys failing physicals and fracturing their skulls. Back in April these two rookies seemed like steals but just maybe this is why other teams passed and we just took a chance knowing what the upside would be if they panned out. It's probably too early to start thinking like that and getting all negative about our picks but you have to wonder what is going on with these guys.

It varies from team to team. It's not uncommon for rookies to fail conditioning test. Both Malcom Kelly and Devin Thomas of the Redskins failed last year. Casey Hampton failed a conditioning test last year.

But usually it comes down to....if you fail a conditioning test....something is wrong. Whether it is just being too out of shape or something is tweaked.

Cody will have to do some work on his own to get him ready for the test, he knows what it consists of. We just need to hope he doesn't push something to hard and forces an injury.

Actually, there's an entire FORUM for Training Camp reports.
I figured that forum was for this:

Talk about your training camp experiences at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD. Tips, recommendations and suggestions welcome!

Not for actual "Ravens Talk" from training camp.

Easy now. This is not falling apart. We all knew Cody was fat. Kindle found out why it's bad to drink and walk in the dark. Reed is fine, Harbaugh said he would talk to him and deal with the matter.

We are gonna be fine. All of these things are secondary parts to our team (except for Reed but Harbaugh will talk to him). Its the beginning of camp. Things will look drastically different in a few weeks

If it's general discussion about "how hard is camp", etc., we'll move it over there. If it's real Ravens news, then it'll stay in Ravens Talk.

Also, keep an eye on the News forum for breaking news and blogs from camp. There's no need to duplicate the threads. The discussions are a lot easier to follow if they aren't spread across multiple threads.

When you come into the forums, just click on "View New Content" and you'll see the latest posts in all the forums.

We don't know yet whether Kindle was drinking the night he fell. I know it was a party, but that doesn't guarantee he was intoxicated. Harbaugh merely said that he got up in the middle of the night in complete darkness.

Just trying to be optimistic. I would hope that Kindle's DUI days have taught him to stay away from alcohol...especially now that's he's about to be signed as a professional football player.

Cody and Harris failing the conditioning test disappoints me. It sounds like Cody needs to get himself into better shape. But if guys like Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas failed as rookie receivers last year and a veteran like NT Casey Hampton failed as well (thanks for the info PuRock), maybe it's not as bad as it sounds. We can only hope.

Harris:"I wasn't as close (to making conditioning time) as I wanted to be, but we'll see this afternoon and hopefully I'll be out there."
And Cody reportedly was running on field after the AM practice

He should be able to pass the conditioning test sometime this week. I heard he was running by himself.

I'm just hoping he doesn't push himself to hard for a big man. That last thing I want is a mountain with a tweaked ankle.

So...judging by that Harris quote, they're letting him re-do his physical this afternoon..?

...and if Cody was running on field after the AM practice, does that mean he took another physical and passed it or was just running on the sidelines or something? I don't mean to sound uneducated, but I can't imagine them letting him participate on-field if he didn't pass his physical...?

well if they are doing 2 a days possibly yes,but Im not sure I know they were put on the PUP list for am practice, not sure if that takes them out all day?
Even if he was running on the sideline is just to excersise that I think would be fine as long as it isn't a team thing.
I am sure someone could probably explain it better, just going by my assumption tho

...like a thorn in the lion's foot. That would be a significant injury for such a massive man. That's a lot of weight to keep off an ankle.

Yeah...I'm not worried about Cody running. It's good to hear him working on his fitness. But I do wish we knew what the protocol was...

For me it doesn't really bother me if he was drinking. The encouraging thing for me is that he wasn't drinking and driving. But the man is old enough. He can kick a few back. Just unforunate that he fell like he did. I've kicked a few back a lot in my day and have never have fallen that hard. Well then again, my houses were never that big enough to fall that far.

I don't think it bothers me that he was...it just bothers me that people jump to that conclusion. However, it would also bother me if that was the reason for his fall.

I bolded that last sentence because I couldn't help but laugh at it...and because the same applies to me xD.

haha. It's so true. If he was drunk it would kind of explain to me more why he fell so hard. If he was sober, he is a klutzy dude. So in my mind, I'm going to say he is drunk so it explains it better.

Thats a fair point about jumping to conclusion. People are really freaking out today, with Cody not passing conditioning, Kindle getting hurt, and Reed being upset.

People need to chill out. Stuff happens. Offseason never goes as smoothly as we hope.

From what I read in a Harbaugh quote is that he didn't complete a certain number of sprints in a certain period of time. Raises a question for me: wouldn't you inform a player of the baseline requirements to pass the conditioning test so that he may prepare in the weeks leading up to camp? If they did in fact provide this info and the player still failed the test, then I have a problem with that player's preparation.

It would explain it, but I hope that's not the case. I'd rather him be a klutz.

Yeah. I'm not that worried. The Reed thing will blow over as soon as he gets to camp and Harbaugh, Ozzie, etc. get a chance to talk to him. Cody should be fine. He's bound to get into better shape if he stands outside in the 100 degree heat long enough :229031_rofl:. I just hope Kindle makes a full recovery.
